One of the historical community get call (kofa in hausa) kofar mata is one of the get or (ganuwa )in kano state. since before the coming of the colonial master administration. This kind of get at that time it is use for deferent things such as a part of security to that very community . Because at that time when there is a war between them and other community they are usually close that get and prepare for that war . Since that time of to now those (kofa)are in existing as a historical things.

This happened to be a century old dye center in Kano. But history have almost wiped it out as it no longer produce dye materials like before. Though there are still few people that does the dye, but it wasn't the originated work by the traditional Hausa people. People from different part of world use to visit this place when it was functioning well. But now the produce only used to be sold in local markets in Kano.

Kofar Mata is a great place to be. I toured up to the kofar Mata dye pit that has existed for over five hundred years and still in existence. It's cool to be there.

A very nice place to visit. There you can visit the famous Kofar Mata Dye pits with over 200 years history. You can also visit the Sani Abacha Stadium which was amongst the stadiums that hosted the junior world cup. Not far from the famous Kwari Textiles and Fabrics market. Also a walking distance to KANO Emirs' Palace, the famous KANO City Mosque and the Gidan Makama museum at the heart of KANO city.

It's a beautiful place that reminds me of the cultural authenticity and origins of out house traditions.

Kofar mata (female gate) is one of the oldest gate in kano city the gate is exiting for over 500 years.
