the sacred tomb of Pir Haji Mangho (a saint whose original name was Kamaldin) with its resident population of crocodiles and the adjacent sulphur springs offered opportunities to pilgrims for cleansing both the spirit and the flesh. No evidence has been forthcoming as to how these crocodiles of a species not normally found in or around the Jndus river were marooned in such a hilly oasis. Their very presence, an enigma in itself, has helped popularise their attraction to visitors and residents of Karachi for over 150 years. An early surveyor of Karachi, Lt. T.G. Carless recorded in his report of 1838: 'The valley of Pir Mangho is surrounded by hills 700 or 800 feet high, between which glimpses are occasionally obtained of the level plains beyond, probablycontains a small portion of iron. The water is so warm that at first you can scarcely bear your hand in it, and its temperature was afterwards found to be 1330. The natives say it cures every disease, and they not only bathe in it whenever they have an opportunity, but drink it in large quantities. They believe that all the springs in the valley owe their existence to Lal Shahbaz, the celebrated saint of Sehwan, who, in order to make the spot holy, commanded them to burst forth from the rocks

Mangho pir shrine and its lake, Truly a mysterious place as there is no explanation about crocodiles which are abundant there and living peacefully. But disappointed to see this famous and fabulous place is lacking amenities from tourists point of view. Lake isn't developed that it can attract people again.

I love this place, very peaceful environment. Items are available there on very economical price as compare to main city but the route to go there is in very worst condition. Space of crocodile pound must be expended. Government must look into it for development of tourism here

The area of urban Karachi named Manghopir is believed to have the oldest Sufi shrines in the city. It's also home to hot sulfur springs and crocodiles believed to be sacred members of Pir Mangho. People from the Baloch ethnic group frequently refer to the place as Mangi or Garm-aab / Sard-aab. This is because of the presence of the hot springs and cold springs in the region.

It is a different place now easily accessible because of new road construction. There is a famous hostorical shrine (history discussed in our school text books). Quiet astonishing to find a large number of crocodiles at a pond attached to this place. As per local people, some crocodiles were given to Zoo management as well but they couldn't survive out of this place.

Manghopir is a rural area of Karachi, named after Sufi Pir Haji Syed Sakhi Sultan. The area has the oldest Sufi shrines in the city, hot sulphur springs that are believed to have curative powers, and many crocodiles - believed locally to be the sacred disciples of Pir Mangho.Balochs often call this place as โ€˜Mangiโ€™ or Garm-aab / Sard-aab (due to the presence of the hot & cold springs) The ancient inhabitants of Karachi also hold a festival at this place every year and express their devotion. They sing songs in the old language and dance to the drums. There is also a lake in which there are a lot of crocodile which are fed meat and sweets in devotion, at the same time people also say that one crocodile here is 100 years old.

An interesting place to visit apart from religious beliefs. It has nearly 45 crocodiles where people come to offer them meat as Nazrana. It also has hot water springs which is famous for the fact that it ails skin diseases.

Manghopir shrine, a large pond, hot and cold spring are what make this ancient shrine special. Numerous crocodiles live in the pond and are frequently fed by shrine visitors. The crocodiles, in their opinion, are representations of the Sufi saint.

Road was under construction, but the place is good and peaceful. You reach the sanctuary after passing thru a small bazar. There is a parking outside as well.

Have visited this shrine many a times in the past and its a really soothing and divine experience Pir Mangho's original name was Pir Haji Syed Khwaja Hassan Sakhi Sultan who was an Arab and came here in 13th century (He was the 40th Caliph of Baba Farid Ganjshakar and belonged to Chishtiah order) This area is also inhabited by Sheedi community who are descendents of Afro-Arabs who came to India from Zanzibar. Their Sheedi Mela (also held at Manghopir shrine) is totally different from the Manghopir's Urs (also held in Zul-Hijjah) Nearby there is a crocodile sanctuary which houses almost 200 crocodiles who have been here for centuries A must visit place though ๐Ÿ‘

Historical place, Shrine of the Pir Haji Sakhi Suktan Manghopir is next to natural sulphur pond. The pond is believed to have healing powers. Though the ponds have dried up due to excessive boring of water Wells, there still is a small stream which can be seen behind the shrine. The crocodile pond has an estimated 500+ crocs which are believed to be disciples of the sifi Saint.
