Chancellor
Baqai
Medical
University
(BMU).
BIDE
was
stand
as
a
single
room
diabetic
clinic
in1996.
later
on
it
was
converted
in
to
Baqai
Diabetic
center
with
Skeleton
staff
of
one
medical
office,
one
computer
operator
on
Administrator,
One
dietitian
and
consultant
Diabetologist,
Prof.
Abdul
Basit
in
1999
with
the
commencement
of
one
year
Diploma
in
Diabetology
for
family
physicians,
this
center
was
given
a
status
of
institute
under
the
directorship
of
Prof.
Abdul
Basit
and
was
moved
to
a
new
building
near
Baqai
Hospital
Nazimabad.
Besides
academic
activities
this
institute
then
started
an
In-Patient
specialized
diabetes
service
along
with
a
24
hours
acute
diabetic
and
Non-Diabetic
medical
emergencies
Coverage.
The
Out-Patient
of
this
Institute
gave
a
new
concept
of
collaboration
service,
where
an
AssociateDiabetologist,
nutritionist
a
diabetes
educator
and
a
consultant
Diabetologist
along
with
prompt
labaroratory
back
up
services
make
the
management
plan
in
a
single
visit,
increasing
convenience
and
compliance.
The
diabetic
foot
Clinic,
a
unique
and
first
of
its
kind
in
Pakistan
provides
standardized
foot
care
service
through
a
team
of
chiropodist,
Associate
Diabetologist,
Consultant
Diabetologist
and
a
Surgeon
with
special
interest
in
diabetic
foot
since
its
inception.
The
institute
maintained
the
computerized
record
of
the
patients
data
and
full-fledged
IT
Department
was
established
in
1999.
The
IT
Department
provides
the
network
that
connects
different
departments
like
pharmacy,
laboratory
and
reception.
The
Research
Department
a
brain
child
of
Dr.
Abdul
Basit
was
established
in
1998.
With
a
research
officers
and
Consultant
Statistician,
along
with
other
Consultant
were
able
to
produce
date
in
to
research
papers.
Which
were
presented
at
local
and
international
Forums.
