A 107rs veg briyani is not filling a 5 age child stomach. Money moto service. Poor experience.

Went here all famished and surely did the steaming hot idlis made up for it. We truly realised Ghee Podi Idli, Steam Idli, Mendu Vada & Butter Dosa with all 3 varieties of chutney. The hot sweet Pongal just melted in our mouths. We agree that the prices are a little steep and the management should consider revising the rates or increasing the quantity.

No complaints regarding the food here. Meals was available at a decent rate. The service was also good, unfortunately I can’t say the same regarding the billing system being followed here. A friend of mine asked for an extra cup of curd but I was shocked to see an extra rupees 11 being charged for that. I know it’s not a huge issue but we were given the cup after we finished eating everything right before they came with the bill. I’ll be back for more soon, hope they don’t disappoint the next time.

I have been visiting Murugan Idli Shop all across Tamil Nadu from ages and this restaurant was a new addition in that quest. However, the poor service and poorly maintained cleanliness in the restaurant disappointed me a lot. On the first day, I went during lunch hours. Though the restaurant was not so crowded it took almost 15 mins for a server to attend to me. Also steward didn't give me a bill despite waiting for 15 mins after finishing my food. I voluntarily went to the billing counter and asked for the bill by telling what food I ordered. In the second instance I went for breakfast and this time the service was somewhat better but still didn't feel comfortable enough. The food was good. I ordered Ghee Podi Onion Uttappam which was nice and Curry Leaf Podi Idli & Ghee Podi Idli which were really delicious. They got limited parking space in front of the restaurant. The hygiene of the restaurant could be better and they accept all kinds of digital payments including cards. Recommended for the delicious food if you have a lot of patience to deal with servers here. -BeingBakasura

One of the worst services in this branch. Food is also not that much standard available in other branches. The service is very slow even during the time the crowd was very less. This shop is famous for idli only even that idli is not hot enough. With this service the waiter is expecting for tips as well. Highly not recommended this shop for anyone. Please avoid this.

The idli is awesome , the taste of sambar and chutney is wonderful. The staff is humble and polite. They have very wonderful collection of snacks and powder podi masalas too. That's great was to show unique blend of snacks. The restaurant is little overpriced , I think they could attract more crowd if they can reduce the price a little. The place is hygienic , but I would say they could use air freshener for washroom . Please keep a sanitiser at washroom too. Please keep tissue papers, salt and pepper bottles and spoon & fork stand on tables.

best and quick place for breakfast. idlies are fresh and soft. Pongal is slightly dry but has its charm. savoury not sweet sambar. service is quite quick. prices are definitely a little above average range.

Tried the famous Murugan Idly. As the name stands out - the idly is really nice. I had Podi Dosa as well but found Idly to be the best. It’s slightly premium but loved the chutneys and Sambar as well. It’s served on banana leave and loved my morning breakfast. Must try in Chennai

Too expensive. Paneer dosa costs ₹180. And that too the taste doesn't match for that high cost. Taste is ok. Only podi idli is good. Better you can look for some other option for satisfying your taste buds

Murugan idli shop is a prominent place in chennai if you want to have authentic South Indian dishes. It's a pure vegetarian restaurant with many varieties of idli, dosa including South Indian meals. They have many branch across chennai. Though I visited other branches however this is my first visit to this porur branch. Loved the food, they serve you on banana leaves. Food so authentic and tasty. Staff members were courteous.

One of the most renowned idli shops in Chennai. The restaurant is known for its soft idlis. I have tried their ghee podi idli and Onion uthappam. Podi idli is spicy. Onion uthapam made with small onions, which made it different. They had 4-5 varieties of chutney of which tomato and coconut chutney was my favorite. The resturant ambiance is very average. The dishes are little expensive. Totally recommended for idli lovers.

Didn't expect that Meals was over at 2.30pm itself even the cashier not aware of it, when asked for sambar vadai. They just put an vadai in sambar and served immediately, can feel the hardness of the vadai. Service not good called 4-5 times for getting water itself. And there was a quarrel in kitchen which is very much audible till dining area.

This review is mainly for their Mini Hall on the first floor Pros * As usual, the taste was top-notch at an affordable price. * Their Ghee Pongal was like Cashew Pongal. Literally, one scoop may have 5-10 full-size cashews. * They do have a Car Parking which can hold 6-7 cars for the Hall Customers but you need to get approval from their manager/supervisor. Cons * We didn't see any room for dress change in the Hall. * No music system (I took my portable Bluetooth player). * The ice cream served on the menu was not all good. No flavour but full of sugar (I guess it would be used in their Jigarthanda)

First off, the food is good. The ghee podi idlis were delicious. And so were the dosas. But bear in mind if you are going to order a fancy dosa, it’s going to come to you bill a high priced bill. There is enough seating and the servers/waiters are quick with their service. The toilets need some additional ventilation though. We parked near the shop, but there can only be a certain number of cars parked here.

The taste of food is not like before. Murugan idli kadai is basically famous for variety of chutneys but the same now is not up to the level. Even the sambar tastes has really gone down. Very disappointed. 👎👎👎 Ghee podi onion uthappam is good. Garlic podi idly/other podi idlis are average. The podi taste seems to be the same which is available in the packet in supermarkets. Nothing special to try it. Highly disappointed😞

The worst place. I will not recommend this at Porur. The lady at reception was good but the other staff should learn to behave. Actually I have always had a good experience. This time I am writing this because after eating food from here I got rashes all over my body and when consulted the doctor, he said it could be a food allergy. He further added allergens could be mushroom, MSG or food colours. I have never got anything like this before.

One more great experience at Murugan Idli Shop. This place has maintained its way of working as is since years. We visited this place for dinner after three years, and had the same experience as before. It is like a must to have ritual for us to visit Murugan Idli Shop when we are in Chennai. The menu is the same, the taste and quality of food is the same, the speed in which food is served remains unchanged. This place is all about a very good, vegetarian and South Indian quality food for our regular basic needs of food. Donot expect a great ambiance or pampering service here, It is always crowded, one needs to wait for a table whenever you go there. Also, donot get nervous if there are people watching you eating and finishing your meals, so that they can grab your table when you get up from there. After our meals, we really cannot leave without buying the variety of items like Podi and Savouries from the counter as well, one more great attraction to this place, apart from eating. Very good experience once again!

If you're podi food lovers, then this place is for you. They serve all foods with podi, like podi idli, podi dosa, garlic podi. You have to inform while order to exclude podi, if you don't like. Also they serve some millet foods. The server marketing for the high priced foods, if you order idli, he trying to sell garlic podi idli will be good try it or mudakkathaan dosa is good go for it. Atmosphere to be improved.

Cleanliness needs a lot of improvement..Food tastes good but too many liquid chutneys make it a mess.....

Good food, quality and taste better. One bad experience I had is waiters gives pathetic look when I didn't pay tips. Paying tips is individuals wish, one can't explicitly expect. Management should look into this seriously.

Food is always awesome here and they maintain the same taste till date ever since I had my food for the first time here in 2015. But recently in this particular location of murugan idli kadai, the service was very poor. The servers wanted us to order as per their choice. Whatever we ask they say it's not available even during peak hours. But without our consent they put vadas or idlies or dosas on our plate and made us eat.. this is a very unwelcoming behaviour.

Food is decent! They bank on their podi idli and dosa items. Waiting Timing is not too long but not short either. Vada is super-oily, see the white tissue that became completely drenched. Not fr the diet conscious

The shop's credibility is not maintained in this branch. The quality of food is not up to the mark for the people visiting with expectations. Now the food availability is only a filler material for our emergency needs. I strongly advise the people managing this branch to sustain with quality first.

Very worst customer service I ever had It’s 30 mins I seated in hotel to have my breakfast , not a single server came to take order, Moreover came out from hotel nobody to ask for not having the food. Servers are very lethargic and rude , yeppa cash counter people more than that . Due to this people , the name fame of brand is spoiling in day to day business. Worst start of day to le in Murugan idli Shop porur branch.

Seriously definitely did not expect the franchise to have better taste than at home. The podi idly was rich- super dipped in ghee and a lot of podi. The chutneys definitely did super better than at home! Damn satisfied. In case you are wondering why I am talking about chutneys, try having your idly with just the tomato and coriander chutney.)
