Not too far from Tokyo and not that small. Their lift system though might need revamping as they only have one gondola/ropeway that takes you to the top that takes a good 10minutes plus. There doesn't seem to be many lifts mid-mountain level that takes you back up so once you go down, the only way to get back up is via the time consuming ropeway which also shuts at 3pm, leaving the top out of bounds. Mountain isn't that high so was pretty good visibility throughout the day. Some really good long runs which makes the place interesting but you can soon get bored. The runs are long and wide so not as challenging but still fun. Snow quality is so-so, normal resort/groomed quality and didn't see much powder. Still they have a large variety of very long runs so taking different routes can provide enough variety for a day's fun. Does seem to be more geared for experienced snowboarders as they have several park areas. No problem but some of the snowboarders seems to have less consideration for others doing tricks, failing and then falling all over the place causing a nuisance to everyone. They also have a foot spa at the top but was frozen at the time.

Beautiful Marunuma Kogen Ski Resort is located on the western slopes of Mt Shirane in Katashina village close to the Gunma-Tochigi prefecture border. 😍 memorable visit.

If the ropeway/gondola is not running for any reason, you cannot access 1/3 of the runs at all. Also they do not welcome Snowscoots here. There is only 1 lift and 2 runs allowed so it gets boring very fast. Highly recommend other locations since there are a lot of choices if you have come this far.

On the week day the ropeway lift was not open so it was restricted to beginners course and many snowboarders went down slopes with no control of speed in narrow parts which was dangerous I think this park is good for advanced snow boarders and intermediate skier's

One of the best snowboard mountain in Kanto

Good ski field, another alternative to Yuzawa based fields if you have a car. Good clean modern facilities. Parking is free on week days, but ¥1,000 other times.

Small but very good ski park. It is wide and not crowded. It is best to stay at least 1 night. Day trip is not sufficient.

Meh... The runs were not really great and the variety was lacking. Lots of beginner runs and the snow wasn't maintained well There's also a turn stall at each lift which was annoying when queuing because people ahead weren't the quickest in getting the ticket out to swipe on the turn stall which slowed the lines significantly.

Well if you like ski, you will like this place. If, like me, you suck and can barely stand on your feet but you came here to please your wife, this place is your punishment.

It’s so cool place in summer. I had spent a amazing time for camping and touring.

Very comfortable and for beginners (no equipment), they'll have it. You can go to the highest peak, and there is Easy Route all the way down.
