Delicious exotic meats traditional Nepali style in a comfy courtyard restaurant. Good wholesome sets that come fairly quickly - decent value and neat presentation. Mutton and wild boar options are a must-try. Chill atmosphere with group seating and not too crowded. Pricing is reasonable around 800 - 1k Rupees per set meal.

Great food with really polite and friendly staff. Everything we had here was nice especially Mutton. Their mutton was so well cooked and so juicy. The only reason I am taking a star away is coz we ordered their unlimited meal plan but they only served us mutton once and said its over. The only reason I went for this meal was mutton and this was very disappointing. Overall amazing experience and I highly recommend this place.

This is a very good restaurant to enjoy Nepalese cuisine. The food is very good. The portion size is small. This place has a great ambience. It gives you vintage feel. If you want to enjoy Nepalese food and are okay to spend some extra bucks for ambience, then this is the place for you!

Lovely inner courtyard. The smoking area is up on a terrace so you don’t encounter the smell of smoke when eating. We had momos and a tasty yogurt, cashew nut dessert which I highly recommend!

A quite a cozy place, we went on a business dinner and the food was quite good. We ordered the set menu and it is highly recommended as it gives you all what you wish to taste in Nepal. The ambience was really with great service.

The best Nepali food we had in Kathmandu without a doubt. The sampler plate was amazing! Not the cheapest but worth every penny!

We went here a few times during our Nepal visit. All the food was great, but the lamb momo was absolutely the best momo I've had anywhere!

For a slightly more up-market dining experience in Kathmandu I would strongly recommend! The set menu was EXCEPTIONAL! Some of the best Nepali food my partner and I ate in Nepal. The atmosphere was warm, with soft lighting and lots of greenery. The staff were very friendly and extremely hospitable - nothing was too much and there was always someone around to attend to any requests with a smile. We were disappointed to find out on arriving that the traditional performance advertised on their website has not been running for several years, which was a shame because we were both looking forward to this. My only piece of advice would be if you have a stomach with a tendency to upset - avoid the yoghurt dessert as I had some gut issues the next few days. But would still happily eat here again for all the other food!

Nice place, decent food. Set around a courtyard. But I came for the Nepalese dancing that I read about in the guidebook but they no longer have it.

It is my second time visiting this restaurant. The food is still very nice. People who love mutton are able to enjoy various mutton dishes here. The place looks nice but I also notice the stage for traditional dance is gone. Maybe that is why there are some works on process right now.

Good choice for Newari food in Thamel, possibly only one offering it in Thamel. The environment is great, you can choose to have you good indoors or in a small courtyard that is surrounded by unique old structures. They now got a small coffee shop area too.

The very best Dal Bhat all over the world! I have been to Nepal seven times, and every trip ended here: with Dal Bhat, full course. The memory triggers wide grins.

Here is a place well known for its authenticity and this reputation is fully deserved! This establishment is located in the heart of Thamel which is the favorite tourist district of any good traveler in Nepal passing through Kathmandu. You enter a real traditional Nepalese house with up to two floors under the ceiling with spaces all as interesting as each other. On the first floor, a classic room with small tables but above all a balcony overlooking the interior courtyard where you can also sit down. Above this level, still taking the typical traditional staircase, you reach another room with sofa and coffee table. Higher up, there is a single large room where woven mats await delicate mount clients or clients looking for originality. Finally, the attic completes the accommodation but it is not intended for the public in the immediate future. A real unsiue and authentic house! But the interior courtyard, even if it is furnished with more modern tables, is nevertheless decorated with plants and one notices on the walls various ornaments such as masks or kites. But above all the service is up to the quality of the dishes you will find there. Prices are correct considering that. And in the pure Newar tradition, the small flight of house alcohol will be offered to you!

Having tried the Nepalese Thali we wanted to try the Newari Thali. For starters Newari cuisine is a sub set of Nepalese cuisine, and Newars are renowned for their sumptuous feasting. The food is simple wholesome , low on spices and oil and just deliciously wow. The set menu at this restaurant is just wow. You can also enjoy a live dance performance while enjoying your dinner. An absolute must visit when in Kathmandu

The food is good but the portions are really really small. A curry looks like a dal bat and prices are way too high for Nepal. Positive is the staff. They are really friendly

I went there because of the reviews and the outside sottong arrangements. The place was all ooked and had to sit inside which smeeled funny and moldy. Food was average, high price and the waiter forgot us almost because there was a big crowd. They also forgot to being the cofee. Overall, not worth it and there are other small places better then this one

Amazing food. Service was perfect. He explained the menu to us with so much heart. We ordered dal bhat, newari, momos and chatamari. This is my favorite chatamari in whole nepal. All the other food were delightful. One of our best meals.

Charming place. Friendly service but honestly the food is bland. Sat with my friends family for a formal evening. Enjoyed the place but had to sit opposite my friend's mother who kept asking if I thought the food was tasty. She was joking because her food is food cooked by a goddess. Generally this is a great place for foreigners to enjoy middle of the road food. But for real Nepal food with real flavour look for a local place.

I had diner meeting a few times in this place. Food mostly is not tasty, but prices are high. Fish curry was ridiculous small, and contained very lot of bones. Service is so so. And, officially, this place is working until 22.00 p.m. In 21.30 I asked food, but waiter said that kitchen have already closed. It’s outrageously! Actually, only momo and mutton soup are ok, and also blubbery cheese cake is really good.

Came here for for trying out some authentic Nepali cuisine & I had my mind blown. First let me talk about the food first because I need to reserve a section to talk about their service. The food was perfect for my pallete & the best part is that even though i ordered a thali, every single item was served piping hot & fresh. We went for the set veg and non- veg option. And the service was so good - with everyone paying so much attention to us. Special shout out to Yuvraj, Bhel and Bikash for ensuring we had the best experience ever.

More sophisticated than most places in the area, yet prices are very good. Most people go to taste the mutton but I had the vegetarian menu and it was outstanding. Service is very good and staff was attentive.

I am giving two ⭐️ because the place is so beautiful and the coffee was nice. Other than that, the food was obscene. We ordered set breakfast and it was just the cheapest ingredients possible: two sad eggs, tost bread with some butter, sausage (beeh) and little potato pancake. The orange “juice” was orange in colour and that’s about it. Pity.

Straight up the decor and atmosphere was a 5 out of 5. The same goes for the staff, who were polite and went along with some light banter due to failed attempts at lighting a fresh candle. Sadly the same can't be said for the food. Other than their delectable Shikarni, rest were mediocre at best, to not wanting to finish at worst. The Chatamari was quite decent and worth a try, a solid 3. Their Alu Tama (a sort of potato soup) was not for our pallets perhaps so I can't fairly judge it. The dish I personally was looking forward to was the Sukuti which I would struggle to give a 2 at best. The meat was super dry and crunchy and had an overpowering ginger flavor which was wall you could taste. Also no onions in there. The disheartening dish took away too much from the whole dinner experience. If looking for delicious Nepali Sukuti, you are better served elsewhere. But nonetheless, I would recommend this place if you wanted to relax at the end of a long day out and relax with a few drinks and snacks.

We were disappointed with the Thamel House. We were looking forward to enjoying the set meal on our last night in Nepal, but it was underwhelming at best. The table wasn't set, we had dirty placemats and we had to send our starters back because they were cold. To be fair, the staff apologised and rectified it immediately, but it wasn't a good start! The food generally was nice, but nothing to write home about. We felt that although the service was quick, it was slapdash and there was very little care taken. Two set meals cost Rs 2800 (no drinks); we should have spent a third of the money at the curry house instead. We expected a better meal and better service for this price.

I recently had a visit into this place with my French colleagues and came to know that this is a super friendly and professional service station in Kathmandu 🇳🇵. For those who really want to have an experience on what Nepali hospitality is and what delicious food means this could be one stop solution! Highly recommended from me and my entire team!

I would give one star because there is no other worst opinion. Food quality was disgusting. Amount of the food was not even enough for a 10 year old child. And they were serving it for an adult person in a high price. The ambience was tempting but the experience was worst.
