The hotel is situated at a awesome location, close to the river and it has some breathtaking views! 😍 The rooms were luxurious. The breakfast and dinner spread was huge and they have great variety in all the cuisines. We had a great time and I still miss my luxury time spent over there. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel when you are in Kandy.

This is the first time we had a bad experience at a Cinnamon hotel. We booked 4 rooms in the hotel through the website and we tried to contact them before the arrival date more than 10 times, but unfortunately, the front office didn't respond to calls. But we contacted F&B through a mobile number and received the details we need. During the stay, we had to change two rooms due to leakages of the roof in the room due to bad weather. But we must say we never expected that kind of bad experience at a Cinnamon hotel. The staff mentioned that the hotel was closed almost two years and management is expecting a renovation. We would like to suggest the hotel should renovate immediately to avoid this kind of bad experience for their customers and keep the goodwill of Cinnamon. And room amenities were not consistent over the rooms. We must say, the foods are delicious. We experienced three buffets during our stay. All three buffets are very good and they had a wide range of varieties. And their pool is also good. We would like to rate your service and hotel as follows. Front office service - 1 out of 5 Foods - 5 out of 5 Restaurant service - 4 out of 5 Rooms - 1 out of 5 Have a good renovation project!

Cinnamon is of course one of the best places for hospitality. Location is great and the hotel is designed so everyone can enjoy the beautiful scenary. Despite the pandemic the service was wonderful really enjoyed the stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had all the safety measures. Food was good and had a decent spread. Wish the spice levels were bit higher to cater locals 🙈 Would definitely recommend all to visit cinnamon citadel and will be a memorable stay for all. Looking forward for future visits with cinnamon ❤️❤️

Great hotel in Kandy with a beautiful view. We stayed one night on full board basis. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very spacious. What a great place to stay. The food was awesome and I would highly recommend to anyone. The staff was friendly and the rooms/washrooms were clean. Not a single point to give a bad comment but I would recommend to have a elevator/lift cause its hard to walk through the staircase all the time. If someone is old or hard to walk I would recommend to book a room close to the lobby and dinning area. Everything was perfect Job well done.

Had a wonderful time at Cinnamon Citadel. The hotel is beautifully located next to the Mahaweli River. The rooms have a panoramic view over the river. The staff and their service were excellent. The gardens are well-maintained and wish we could spend some more time there. Few things for improvement: 1. Some areas seem to be a bit worn out and need being refurbished 2. The spread for breakfast buffet, especially for desserts, was limited and it was below the standards expected of a Cinnamon hotel 3. More parking space is preferable.

We were at the Panorama restaurant for the Lunch buffet today. The starters, salads and the desserts were good. But, the main courses were too simple. This was not something I expected from a Cinnamon hotel. The vegetarian options were very limited. I was disappointed with the options that were available. Definitely not worth the price. The staff were were friendly and the service was good. But the food must have been a lot better.

Very helpful and friendly staff! They were very attentive and accommodating. Had a small celebration here and they provided the cake as well. Good food at the lunch buffet - wide variety and very tasty. Beautiful views of the Mahaweli river from the poolside, with comfortable bean bags and chairs as well for a good hang out spot. Was only possible to have a short stop this time, but would love to re-visit and stay longer.

The staff at this hotel were extremely kind when catering and accommodating to our requests. The pool overlooks a lot of greenery giving you the feeling of being in nature. If you like plants, they have a wonderful array of plants around their garden as well. The buffets are still running these days and they change the menu each night. Would highly recommend staying here if you are in Kandy

Am writing this review staying here. The rooms are fabulous. Hotel food is also great with lively ambience. The staff are very courteous. Especially, Chef Kelum Thilakarathne is a wonderful person and needless to mention his culinary skills far exceed your expectations. The food spread is vast. All in all, a great experience.

Lovely hotel surrounded by greenery and river. Garden is so big you can always find some private spot for you to relax. Food was nice, so is the service. Rooms are fine, stayed in the superior room, could be bit more neat and smell better.

The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating, and they provided me with all the information I needed. Prior to my visit Christina from front office called me to get my requirements clarified and she had made sure everything was arranged according to our liking. We were given comfortable and spacious rooms with a great views of the river and gardens. The amenities were great, and the food was delicious! The staff was very helpful in offering suggestions of places to visit during my stay. I felt safe and secure throughout my stay. Honestly had a good blend of all the things that we would love to have a guest at a hotel! A boat ride in the Mahaweli River, a splendid garden to roam around where we got lucky to see peacocks! The rooms were spacious and neat with great views to the garden! I think above all I loved the staff who were friendly and lovely! I would definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful hotel!

Cinnamon Citadel is located in Kandy, by the Mahaweli river. The location is beautiful and the atmosphere created by the greenery surrounding the hotel is quite amazing. There is a relatively big garden area that you can take walks in, and it really is peaceful to the soul. The rooms are very nice, too. They are clean, comfortable and equipped with all needed services. The bathroom cubicle is however a bit too small, but otherwise, overall, the rooms have a good ambience. The staff at the hotel is friendly and helpful. They are often ready to provide you with any service requested. The only drawback I have is the food. The buffet lacked variety, and some items, such as the potatoes were quite bland. To my dismay, the majority of the food I had from the action stations were quite salty. I thought of mentioning this because it happened twice, both in the breakfast and then at lunch. Nevertheless, Cinnamon Citadel is a beautiful hotel, and definitely has room for improvement.

This hotel is a great place which manages by Cinnamon group. High level of hospitality, one night stay where it’s really great experience. Food are at it best. Not much of complains to make only the concern is it’s limited surrounding but yet they tried to provide maximum to guests.

Rooms are big and clean, highly equipped and comfortable. Restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, a large variety of food, both local and international (common dishes). The hotel has got an amazing view! The rooms are really nice, spacious and cozy offering a nice view. The staff is very courteous, from check in till check out we felt welcomed by them. their drinks are really nice with the happy hours offers during the night. They have great number of facilities, and the swing by the river is the perfect view one could ask. Breakfast already is decent, good enough options and very good taste. We had a great time here during our trip to Kandy. The staff was very friendly and they treated us very nicely. They gave us a warm welcome. A girl named Dulmini who was at the front desk helped us a lot until we leave the place since we were there to celebrate my birthday. Rooms were very clean but the floor looked little bit old. We got a room with the view of river and it was so useful to spend our evening. You can walk around the hotel to take some good pictures. We got 3 meals at the hotel and they provided us good quality Food. This hotel is located out of the Kandy city so you have to reach passing few kilometers through some narrow roads. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Stayed in qurantine for 10 days as a Covid patient. I was given a room with a balcony overlooking Mahaweli river. Rooms were spacious. All the necessities were provided. Meals were good. Overall enjoyed my stay.

This is our first time in cinnamon citadel kandy for a family holiday. From the time we keep our first step to this resort its an amazing experience. The check in process was admiring. We arrived to the hotel around 10;00 the room is not ready we are fully understood because the check in time was after 14;00 however they give us a temporary room to take a rest because i have a infant. The buffet spread is so good and the food was delicious. The F&B team was so helpful in the restaurant and the bar. The rooms are well clean and have all the necessary amenities. My kids enjoy the pool . End of the 2 nights holiday this resort becomes our favourite hotel in cinnamon brand. Thank you all and see you soon.

It was very nice stay at citadel. They take all the safety precautions for Covid-19 and ensured we were safe. From the check in to check out they made sure we had a good time. Special thanks to Ms.Radee who greeted us nicely and made sure our needs are taken care of. Rooms are a bit old other than that everything else was simply great!

This our 2nd visit to the hotel. Had an awesome Christmas celebration with mouthwatering gala dinner with massive spread of varieties. Very friendly staff. All the 3 buffets were awesome.

Cinnamon Citadel has good food and several helpful staff members which makes any stay enjoyable. The hotel is not the most stylish (which is why it is one star less than 5) but it has its own old world charm.... They did follow covid regulations thoroughly (though I feel some of the measures need to be thought out a little more) Special thanks out to Shashi and Aruna from the serving staff at the restaurant. They were wonderful going beyond their duties at the restaurant to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Cinnamon Citadel is known for their good food. Which is why my parents wanted to go to Citadel in the first place despite having been there more than a dozen times already. And they didn't dissapoint.

We visited the hotel end of the February and staff was very friendly and helpful. But they forgot to provide the welcome drink. They provided early check-in facility as well. The food was really good and delicious. They have well maintained garden area and pool area as well. Room service is good. We had a great stay. We visited the place early January with Family. Fantastic guest service. Very friendly staffs. We stayed full board, food was really good. Larger spread with lot of choices. Kid enjoyed really well, they have good garden area and nice pool area. Room service is good. Unfortunately with the current situation they have stop the board services on the river. We missed that part. But memorable stay. Thanks to Restaurant team, they offered my kid lovely pan cake, very nice of them.

This is a 3+ star resort AT BEST. Do NOT be mis-leaded by its wonderful web page. This is hotel that is rundown, and clearly feeling the effects of the Pandemic. Rooms are NOT the size you see on the website, and the food is limited and mediocre. Other Cinnamon chain hotels might be better, but the one in Kandy is a disaster. Avoid at all cost.

Stayed there for a one night and we were satisfied with the food and the service. Everything was well maintained. Staff were enthusiastic out of all. For lunch they had a set menu and dinner and breakfast had a buffet. I honestly enjoyed the set menu than the buffet. But overall it was a nice stay for us!

One of the best resorts in Kandy. It is a 4 star resort but deserves 5 stars. Ample vegetarian options in the buffet. Fairly international crowd. Staff was the best part here. Location is fantastic, besides the river amidst pleasing greenery. Prices are also very reasonable for the type of property.
