This is my go-to happy place whenever I visit Taiwan. The heat did not stop me. Though it may just sound like rocks, there's so much to see here, even my third time back. The waters are so blue and the rock formations are really beautiful. This is truly nature at its finest. In the summer, I suggest coming as early as possible so it's not as hot, not to mention there's way less people. We arrived around 10am on a weekend and stayed for two hours. Bring an umbrella to shield from the sun as there's not much shade. The breeze from the waters was refreshing and made the scorching sun more bearable. Tickets are 120NT per person.

The view was nice during summer season but the weather was very hot. I will recommend you go on winter period if you prefer cold. Although the weather was hot, but the sky and the sea was super blue and clear. It was a very good time to take photo there.

This is a must place to go when you come to keelung or taipei. The scenery is good and fantastic. The landscape is one and only in the world ! Awesome . Never regret coming here. Although it is for but there are busses that come here straight from the city center.

One of the main attractions of the North Coast Tour is the Yehliu Geopark. If you take the Klook North coast tour, you'll only have 90 minutes to explore the place so it would be best to familiarize the place before going here. It would save you time in finding nice instagrammable spots. Also, wear tight clothes and nothing too flowy because of the strong winds as this is just beside the sea. For a hassle-free tour, book your North Coast Tour via KLOOK (not a sponsored ad 😅) for Php 700.00 only! 8am to 6pm bus service Start of Tour 🔺8:00AM - Pickup at Gakuden Bakery in Ximending 🔺9:30AM - Arrival at Yehliu Geopark 💰 Entrance fee: 80 NTD ⏳ Free time: 1hr30min for photo op *Long queue at Queen's head 🔺11:45AM - Arrival at 13 layers remain & Yin yang sea viewing deck 💰Free Entrance ⏳ Free time: 10min for photo op 🔺12:00NN - Arrival at Golden Waterfalls 💰Free Entrance ⏳ Free time: 5min for photo op 🔺12:10PM - Arrival at Jiufen 💰Free Entrance ⏳ Free time: 2hrs for Lunch & shopping *Xing Fu tang milk tea: 60 NTD *visit A-Mei Teahouse 🔺3:10PM - Arrival at Shifen Waterfalls 💰Free Entrance ⏳ Free time: 35min for exploring & buying snacks 🔺4:00PM -Arrival at Shifen Old Street 💰Free Entrance ⏳ Free time: 50min for Lantern flying (200 NTD) and buying souvenirs 🔺6:30PM -Arrival at Ximending End of Tour *Fees are subject to change anytime* Travel date: August 28, 2019

Really hot place to visit. The main attraction is actually just the queen's head. Was made to understand that it is running the risk of falling off given further erosion of the "neck". Hence, weathered the heat to have a look and customary photo shots. Word of advice...bring a large brolly rain or shine. It will be a God send.

A fine park to visit if your tour stops here or if you’re in the area. It’s a lot of fun to walk around the rocks. The mushroom rocks were interesting to see. We came on a weekday on the line to get a picture with the Queen’s Head rock was WILD! We waited half an hour and some groups would take 5-10 minutes taking photos with no sort of efficiency. The sidewalks can get very busy as well. There was no wait to enter. The park itself is not very large.

Good to go early morning when it's less sunny. There are boardwalk paths and you can also go down the ground areas to take photos next to the mushroom rocks. Most iconic one is the queen's head. We found many other interesting mushroom rocks. After the exit you can visit the shops selling food and drinks. Tried the local jelly drink made of seaweed jelly and lemon. Very refreshing.

Yehliu Geopark, Taiwan is an amazing place to visit. There were crowded of people but clean and cooling. As me, I think you will also like there. Good feeling. Don't miss it when you travel to Taiwan.

This park is stunning!! We totally expected it to be a quick, maybe 1 hr visit to look at some rocks as we travelled around the north, but there is actually so much more. We ended up staying and enjoying ourselves for over 3 hours! There are some really incredible rock formations that you can explore, but there are also views, tropical flowers, hikes along the shoreline, and a particularly great hike up to the top of the rock jutting out into the ocean. Even though the experience is great, the crowds can be massive here, and the sun can be very harsh (no shade). I suggest coming in the very early morning when it first opens, as it is nice and cool, and you can get all your Instagram pictures without any worry of crowds. Then, when it starts to get busy, go on the hike, and be amazed with the stunning views of ocean all around.

A beautiful family weekend spot. Good to walk around, relax and enjoy the wholesome beauty of nature. The special rock structure and the sea view are something worth visiting on a sunny day. Many sea food restaurant/stores with delicacies. Easier if you got your own transport. Just a 40 minutes drive from Taipei.

When you first get there by bus 1815, you’ll start walking, you can see temples along the way. There are tiny market stalls outside of the park and they sell lots of snacks and souvenirs. The tickets are reasonably priced at 120NT per person. Unfortunately the student price is for Taiwan students only. There are a few attractions inside. The queens head were saved for last. We hiked all the way to the end of the peninsula and reached the top observation high. Great views! Heading back down, there were also spur steps that could lead to the lighthouse and also down closer to the water. Overall the walk Took around one and a half hours to two hours.

Yehliu Geopark is around 45mins drive from Taipei City. I went on a wet Wednesday morning (14 Dec 2022). This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Taiwan, fortunately it was not so crowded when I visited. I did not purchase the ticket on klook because there is no option for kid ticket. Fortunately there is only a very short queue at the ticket booth and I managed to get the tickets for my family. NT$120 for adult and NT$60 for kids 12yo and below. There is very clean toilet at the entrance near the ticket booth and another one inside where the small cafe is (near the end of the footpath). Obviously the main attraction is the queen's head where people will queue up to take pictures with it. Overall we enjoyed our time there but unlikely to make a 2nd visit because this is one of those attractions that you only need to see once.

Wow!! Roaring Pacific Ocean, amazing looking rock formations along with a few iconic ones too. This area has a completely otherworldly feel to it. A great stroll. It would take about 1.5 hours to see most of the rock formations along the main trail. But if you are keen, you can spend more than half a day going till the end of the trail till the tip of the islet. Entry fee - NTD 200.

Been here the last time. That time was more winter season. It’s summer now and it’s super hot. Would suggest to bring umbrella and lots of sun screen. The crowd is definitely lesser so you can take great photos without anyone photo bomb your work. I think there is also night sessions to see the queen’s head as well but it starts at 6:30pm onwards and requires a separate ticket if I am not wrong. I think it’s limited time till August 2023.

My 2nd time to visit the Geopark in 5 years. Much have changed. The boardwalks have improved, especially at the area around the rock formations. We came at noontime so it was very hot and humid. Good thing that there are shaded areas and sheds where people can stay and rest. But the area where the rock formations are could be too much to bear at noon time. Tourists must have hats or umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun. Must bring water, too. Very important. The tourist center is a nice, multi-level building with souvenir shop and a nice cafe. Clean restrooms. Entrance to the park is NT$120/person. The park opens from 8am - 6pm. The restaurant that we ate at 5 years ago called "Shark", was no longer there.

Whether you're a geology enthusiast or simply seeking stunning natural beauty, this place is a must-see for anyone visiting Taiwan's northern coast. The rock formations "Queen's Head" and "Sea Candles" are fascinating results of nature's work over time. Lovely and beautiful coastal views here. P/s: The weather can get really hot, remember to apply sunscreen if you're concerned about sun exposure.

Best when weather is good. Kinda crowded when there's tour group, but the place is huge enough to accommodate all. Just skip the popular queen's head and find hidden photo gems around.

The attractive tourist spot that show you the earth's art. There's plenty of sediment that make a picture just like a mushroom, queen's head, and etc. You can get here by bus. But you need wait more because not much bus operate. But, if you visit Taiwan with group, I recommend you to use local taxi cause it's cheaper and yeah you'll arrived in front of your destination. It's simple

Yeliu Geopark in Taiwan is a breathtaking display of natural beauty, featuring stunning rock formations and mesmerizing ocean views. The short hike through the park is easy and rewarding, leading to a panoramic vista that captures the heart. A must-visit for an unforgettable experience with nature's artistry.

I mean… I was here with a tour. It was enjoyable up to a point but I don’t think it’s an attraction I’d recommend or visit again, unless you’re a fan of these kind of places. There was a very long line to take pictures with the Queen’s head and some other rock formations, but that was about it. I would definitely have spent my time somewhere else. Also make sure to bring protection from the sun because it was SCORCHING

  • 2/5 Charmaine L. 4 months ago on Google • 251 reviews
Hmmm this place is packed with human beings. Hard to take good pictures without human beings, maybe it is just my luck. To queue to see the queen’s head, oh my lord… the queue was soooo long. Not sure if it is worth it, maybe it is just me. I won’t return again but for once just to do it and had seen it, is okay, i guess. It feels like going to Stonehenge in the UK. U will have to buy a ticket to enter but there is no queue to get the ticket, so u won’t have to buy it upfront unless there’s a discount. The sea is absolutely beautiful though…..

A very scenic coastal area famed for its unique structural rocks formed through erosion by natural elements, the most ‘famous’ or rather popular among the tourists is the rock resembling the late Queen’s head when viewed from a certain angle. Tourists would queue for just a photo with it. Yehliu Geopark located on an outcrop on Taiwan’s north coast which is projecting into the East China Sea, it sees very strong winds and pretty rough waves at the time I visited in beginning of January. Walking along the boardwalk till the end leads to a nature trail. It has proper steps built for easy climbing but be prepared for a bit of climb upwards. Pretty good exercise with very few people/tourists on this trail. On reaching the top, you will see the Yehliu Lighthouse, beside it is a rest area with stone table and benches for you to take a short break, admire and enjoy the surrounding scenery, before walking down again. A very lovely place for learning about nature’s work as well as walking/exercising. Really a must visit if you do come to Yehliu.

It's great place to look at some volcanic rocks and take some beautiful photos. Go on a good day. We went on a nice sunny day. Paid entry and then walk to the formations and take many photos. Lots of people who know how to do great photos.

Slightly underwhelming experience at this park. Gets extremely crowded by 11am. Most tourists would be lining up for a picture with the Queen’s Head. Do make the hike up the hill further in, next to the cafe. Its much quieter and the view is beautiful from the top.

野柳 (Yehliu) National Park's success can be attributed to its unique geological wonders, conservation efforts, and strategic management. Renowned for its extraordinary rock formations, notably the iconic Queen's Head, the park captivates visitors with its natural beauty. The careful preservation of these geological features underscores the park's commitment to environmental conservation. Strategic planning plays a crucial role in managing visitor experiences. The implementation of well-designed trails and viewing platforms ensures that visitors can appreciate the park's wonders while minimizing environmental impact. This balance between accessibility and conservation contributes to the park's sustained popularity. Educational initiatives further enhance the park's success. Interpretive centers and guided tours provide valuable insights into the geological processes that shaped the landscape. This educational aspect not only enriches visitors' experiences but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the park's ecological significance. Additionally, effective promotion and collaboration with local communities bolster the park's success. By integrating with nearby businesses and accommodations, the park contributes to the region's tourism ecosystem, creating a positive economic impact. In summary, 野柳 National Park's prosperity is rooted in its unique geological features, meticulous conservation efforts, strategic visitor management, educational initiatives, and collaborative approach with local communities. This combination creates a sustainable and enriching experience that attracts visitors while preserving the park's natural integrity.

I rode a bicycle from Kellung City all the way here! What an adventure! With each turn you absorb more culture! It is very intense! If you gonna do the same really watch the road! It took around 1 hour or more depending on how much you stop to check out the scenery. Some steep parts so make sure your health is up to the challenge. As for the park some interesting rock formations in all shapes and sizes.

This is a really cool place to go if you are in the area. The park is full of hoodoo stones and the views are breathtaking. Most of the stones have names and there are places marked where you can stand to get the best picture. The Queen's headstone is iconic to Taiwan but it is said that it will split within the next few years or by the next big earthquake. It is a nice walk and pets are allowed.

If you are a fan of the “miracle Earth” and lack of vitamin Sea, this place is a must visit in Taiwan. The geological park is within a specific zone that you have to get a ticket of 120TWD/adult (60TWD for students with student ID). Highly recommend a gentle walk towards Guihou Fisherman’s market and Emerald Bay Beach after you finish the feast of rock mushroom, ice cream and the Queen’s head in the geological park. The route to the fisherman’s market and the beach is stunning, so don’t miss it! Can enjoy various seafood here as well.

Amazing rock formations by the ocean. You can enjoy all of nature’s beauty: The land, the sea and the wind come together in a breathtaking symphony. A marvelous place to admire the beautiful landscape of Taiwan. Note: If it is a sunny day, there isn’t much shade available so don’t forget you sunblock and sunglasses.

This place should be a must for anyone traveling around Taiwan. The entrance fee is merely 80 NTd, but the views are priceless. The ocean is just mesmerizing, and the rock formations are definitely interesting, including the queen's head, the most iconic of them all. You may want to wear some sunscreen if you're visiting during summer, it gets veeeery hot. Depending on how curious you are, you could spend from 1 to 2 hours here. Such a shame you can't go swimming tho, the water looked crystal clear and sooo gotyod (specially since it was 36°C when I visited)

Yeliu Geopark is located in Northern Taiwan, it's famous for the unique rock formations which caused by sea erosion. The scenery is fascinating and you would impress by the masterpiece of nature. However, there is quite windy and please keep warm when going there.

What a unique place to visit! Yehliu Geopark is an interesting attraction that offers unique geological formations. It is worth visiting and seeing these remarkable formations in an up-close view! The Geological Park resides within a cape 1.7km long and some of the most famous eroded rock formations in the world have been given names to represent their shapes. This includes the iconic Queen’s Head, Fairy Shoe, Kissing Rock, Ice Cream Rock, Elephant Rock, Ginger Rocks, and sea Candles. I was once told that the most iconic rock, the “Queen’s Head” was a lot larger back in the 1960s but due to the constant erosion caused by wind, the rock formations are in a delicate state of transformation.

Yehliu Geopark is a must-visit on the North Coast of TAIWAN. Even though its summer and the heat did not stop us to visit this place. This place is famous for its hoodoo stones, thin spires of rock formed by sedimentary stone. Many rock formations have creative names, including the most well-known “The Queen's Head.”

if you have some spare time while visiting taipei you can take the bus to this peninsula, takes you around 90 minutes to get there (bus leaves very frequently), feels a bit touristy but fun to spend 2 hours here

One of the most beautiful places in Taiwan. It was a really cool place to visit. The whole visit took approx 2-2.5h to walk through. A really interesting and beautiful place, worth coming. The entrance was only $120, for students $40

Stunning vistas and well maintained overall. Definitely recommend a visit to take in the sights, although you can give the Queens head a miss if the photo queue is too long. There's a small cafe/rest stop about midway through if you'd like to recharge or relieve yourself too.

This is a very beautiful place with nice natural rock formation. The noticeboards with explanations are in both Chinese and English. So can learn the process of how these beautiful rock formations are formed. There is a small entrance fee. No need to buy online as the price is similar.

What a cool place Yehliu 野柳 is! The rock formations were truly impressive and so worth seeing ⛰️ The parts I enjoyed the most (by far) was firstly walking around the area by the rock called the Cute Princess 俏皮公主 and the Sea Candles 燭台石. One felt like an ant walking around in a stone forest. This was also a quieter area to enjoy the rock formations up closely, compared to the one around The Queen's Head 女王頭. The second part was the walk to the northernmost very tip of the geopark. It was a paved path going through the forest and over the hill, where the temperature was cooler, and there were less people. Gaps between the trees offered alluring glimpses of the sea and the rock formations from afar. A pavilion crowned the northernmost tip of the park, where the only sound present was that of the sea. A note on the closing times, was that we arrived at 4pm and the park was closing at 5pm. However, that just meant they didn't let more visitors in after that time, but we were free to explore for as long as we wanted after 5pm, so there is no need to rush.

Finally fulfilled my wish of visiting this famous place since childhood. People who remember the old days often exclaims how well the park is organized now. Apparently in the past it’s just free access without any controls. Quite glad that the park is organized and we can preserve these amazing natural wonders for the next generations. It’s quite cold during the winter. The rain coat that’s sold by vendors for $100 is absolutely worth the price!

It's a must visit if you are in Taipei. It's about 1 hr away by bus from Taipei City. If you are going on a weekend, it's recommended to buy your ticket online in advance to avoid the long Q. Highly recommend to bring an umbrella / rain coat with you. If it rains, there is no shelter or place to hide. The entire place is not shaded. It can be very hot or wet (if it rains).

A natural scenic spot! So excited natural scene. The area is well manage. You can take a long walk to the edge for more exotic stone (perhaps on the good weather day). The place is family and child friendly, has a ramp for the wheelchair and stroller. The dried seafood souvenir shops is at the exit. Worthy place to visit!

Beautiful location! We went early (~9am) on a Sunday morning and managed to take a picture with the Queen's head rock with minimal waiting time. It was nice to roam around the rocks and be near the sea

Very nice are to walk. The geological aspect is quite interesting. Some of this will erode in years, so kind of a must see.

Beautiful geological features of north Taiwan. Lots of fossilized and dramatic looking rocks that I’ve never seen anywhere else in the world. Lots of tourist around, but it wasn’t too bad. Definitely worth a visit

The transportation here is very inconvenient. If you don't rent a car, you can only take public transportation. Public transportation is limited every day and there will be a lot of people. I stood on the bus for two hours to get here. I like the scenery here. There are many people visiting here. There are no-entry areas on the roadside, but I saw that people did not comply with the requirements. They kept entering the restricted area to take photos.

Yehliu Geopark is definitely a place you must visit in Taipei. With numerous buses available, it is incredibly convenient to get there, usually taking less than 90 minutes. What's even better is that it is located near the ocean park, allowing you to visit both places in one day. Just make sure to check the schedule for the ocean park shows. The ticket price for Yehliu Geopark is very affordable, and the park itself closes at either 5 or 6pm. Plan accordingly to make sure you have enough time to explore. It typically takes about 4 hours to visit the entire park, as it stretches quite far and involves climbing a lot of stairs. Now, here are some interesting facts that you may not know. The popular spot for taking pictures with the Queen head stone has a long lineup, but the recommended spot to stand isn't as aesthetically pleasing as it appears in the photos. However, the lighthouse in the park has been voted as the most beautiful lighthouse in Taiwan, which is quite surprising. As you walk towards the edge of the park, prepare to be amazed by the abundance of beautiful butterflies, especially the large ones. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a view of the sea and the iconic "thumb stone." Don't forget to grab an information paper when you arrive, as it is incredibly helpful. Overall, I would rate Yehliu Geopark as a 10/10. The facilities are well-maintained, and Taiwanese people have done an excellent job of preserving and showcasing the natural resources for tourists to enjoy.
