Sharing my personal experience about this institute and research centre ( It's an institute and not the exact hospital). Lot of less experienced doctors are treating the patients and there are not much senior doctors. I went to this hospital after seeing few positive reviews here but regretting it. This Hospital (Research institute) would give typically an upgraded government hospital environment and the doctor fee is very less. Doctor charges are less because this institute giving their junior doctors (who might have studied in their own institute) and their students get practice and experience from patients like us (in simple terms, we are their test rats). You can't see any senior doctors or experienced doctors. Due to their less experience, Treatment may go wrong so they will get our signature before they do the surgery to be at their safer side. You can confirm that this is not an hospital but the college by going to the canteen, you would see more college students than the patients and visitors. We are their real time case studies and those students will be with doctors and in the wards and taking notes from our health records for their studies. Receptionists and the staffs working here are typical government staffs behaviour. Nurses are same as doctors. Less experience. Service won't be good. You would realise if you stay in this hospital a day. You would get good treatment by staff and nurse if you know any doctor here. Hence this institute is running not with the main intention to treat us but to give their students practical experience through patients like us. Patients who want to get treatment in this hospital is putting their life at risk.

My wife was admitted for a minor procedure ,the medical part was excellent however for a reputed hospital ,cleanliness was at a backfoot ,am uploading shots of WC my first impression next to the causality ward in block c ,the canteen (reasonably priced) was filthy during lunch hours ,used paper plates cups strewn all over ,used SS plates not cleared ,it was a big mess , of course the blame also goes to people misusing the facility i choose to stay hungry seeing the blocked wash basin Otherwise medical services, ambience, security, parking extraordinarily good

Not able to give zero star, not worth to rate. Wanted to give awareness. My wife took my son with finger injury and its night time, duty Dr is young and he is taking pictures and sharing with Sr Dr all these are happening in emergency room. Then think about condition of other services. If we ask any any questions he will offended for that and answering in rude manner. Finally some how he did his surgery and end with 5 stitches and again he shared pic and confirmed his work with Sr Dr. Climax is he don't know to read the immunization record of my son and again end up calling Sr Dr. Finally comes with TT injection is required and the big surprises is, this big hospital is out of TT Injection. We end up spending extra one day and had his TT injection in some clinic near my house. Very very bad service.

Hi I am Amarnath(37M) I was admitted in Chettinadu,Kelambakkam,Chennai hospital for nearly 67 days for covid treatment from May 14, 2021 This is my own experience and its bit long post 😊 When I was admitted my oxygen level was low, during that time there was scarcity for Oxygen cylinders all over India but I was told chettinad Hospital had enough oxygen so I prefer to get admitted there. when I was admitted I was given bed in the normal ward for nearly three days, I was not given much medication but soon I got lot of problems with my breathing. So I was moved to ICU. Have been in ICU for nearly 12 days. When I was in ICU my Oxygen level went very low , I had to be given 50 litres of a Oxygen for two days. Doctors have suggested to buy some costly medicines like 50000 plus rupees per injection. After taking the injection my body started to respond my oxygen level increased. After 12 days I was moved to normal ward. In 2 weeks I got my nose bleeding and it was a bit blackish. I told the same to Dr. Guhan and he suggested to take some test by ENT specialist Dr.Shyamala mam . With some initial analysis they have doubted it could be a black fungus and started to take the necessary scans. later it is confirmed I was affected by Black fungus and it spreads all over my sinus area. I was given some medicines for that but doctors advised me that the problem could be more severe than what it appears in the scan reports, so they advised me to go to Apollo Hospitals and take the necessary operation to remove the black fungus. But I had much confident with the hospital and said I need the operation procedures to be done by Dr Shyamala mam itself. which took some days because the necessary operation tools were not available in the hospital due to the nature of the situation in second wave of covid. After couple of days I was told they are going to purchase the tools and then my operation can be done in 2 days. I was undergone the black fungus operation and as expected the severity of the fungus was high and then it affected most of my sinus area. After that Operation I was in the ICU for nearly three days and then moved to my normal ward again. After that I had to be in the hospital for nearly one month, during the time Dr Guhan, Dr Radhakrishnan and Dr.Shyamala mam and physiotherapist Sathish all were very much supportive. Apart from the medication they gave the proper counselling which helped me a lot to cross the tough times. My hospital bill was 20 lakhs but I believe it is comparatively normal with other good hospitals in Chennai. It’s been 6 months now after my discharge, I am back to normal life, I can do all regular works. Still I am getting frequent health checkups and counselling directly as well as via phone calls from Dr.Shyamala Mam , Dr.Radhakrishnan sir and Dr Guhan sir. The Doctors, nurses and other supporting staffs were very friendly and caring. Yes its costly, but compare with Ap***o and some other specialty hospitals its economical. My rooms were spacious, clean, and maintained properly. There are some cons which I also experienced. But I think its common in many hospitals especially during pandemic. Apart from that I would say Chettinad hospital is GOOD.

Hi I am Sidney D’Souza originally from Goa. I am sharing my experience at Chettinad Hospital and its Staff who were my saviours. I will be always gratful to them. My Story goes like this. I had stone problem, so I was admitted in one of the hospitals in Chennai and was operated there. But after the treatment my health conditions worsened to the negligence of the Doctors and the staff of that hospital. It was on 21st around 2.30.a.m. that I started feeling uneasy the pain was very severe and called Mr. Shiva, I was very much taken up by Shiva’s gesture, as though it was early morning yet he received my call and guided me I will be ever grateful to him. When I reached Chettinad Hospital at 3.00.am. I met Dr. Harsha Vardhan who helped and was very much professional. During my 4 days stay at the Chettinad hospital the treatment I received here was the best. I owe my recovery to the Senior Doctor who treated me and even agreed to speak to my family doctor. I was inspired by his humility. When I was taken to the other Chettinad hospital for CT scan the ambulance in which I travelled was really good neat and clean. The driver and the attendant were very helpful. I noticed that everything was well organized. Speaking about my experience in Chettinad hospital I cannot bypass the Nurses who attended to me specially Sister Saranya who was on the night shift. She was very professional and did her duty to the best. In most of the hospitals it is very difficult to call attention of the nurses specially during night but Sister Saranya was present before even the drip got over to check on me. My sincere gratitude all the doctors, nurses and other staff of Chettinad Hospital who were my saviour in my difficult times. Though I was alone you all took good care of me. May God bless all of you and protect you. May your noble profession help you to reach great heights in life. My special thanks to Dr. Harshvardhan and Sister Saranya. All the best and keep the same passion and zeal towards your work Thank You … God bless You!

My Mother was killed in this hospital by Guhan who calls him a doctor and kills his patients. I admitted my mother in this hospital on 02/06/2021 during the second wave of the Covid pandemic. She was admitted in 2 other hospital previously and she had been given Bevacizumab and she was recovering from a 60% lung infection and she was getting better. A small variation in ECG was spotted in the previous hospital and the doctor from previous hospital suggested us to move to a hospital where there is a Cardiologist so even if something goes wrong with her it can be looked into straight away. So in the peak of the pandemic there were not many options and we had to move her to Chettinad Hospital and the doctor who was in-charge for my mother was Guhan. My mother was (69 yer old), Guhan reduced the amount of oxygen provided to my mother from 8 Liters to 4 Liters in less than 24 hours to manually induce a cardiac arrest to the patients. Anybody who has been through Covid and if you are specially older the amount of oxygen that was provided should not be reduced such drastically. Following is the information that was provided to me by Guhan during the e counselling session on those days: 02/06/2021 was 10 liters Oxygen with SpO2 level 89 to 90 03/06/2021 was 9 liters Oxygen with SpO2 levels 85 to 90 04/06/2021 was 8 liters Oxygen with SpO2 levels 91 to 92 05/06/2021 was 4 liters Oxygen with SpO2 levels 97 (the patient had a first cardiac arrest on this day and second on 08/06/2021 and she passed away) During the daily status update which was provided by Guhan in Covid ICU on 03/06/2021 and on 04/06/2021 he told us after the Chest CT scan on 03/06/2021 the patient lung involvement has not changed from the previous CT scan which was taken on 27/05/2021. But when we looked into the reports after the discharge there was a substantial difference in the percentage of infection. The percentage of infection was 60% on 27/05/2021 and 70 to 75% on 03/06/2021. This was misinformation (wrong) information that was provided by the specific doctor. Also, when I went later and asked about this information that was not matching with the records he was changing the actual information that was said earlier to us. I raised a complaint with the doctor and had a meeting with the Dr.Prabu Mayakeesavan who is the Director of Chettiand Hospital dismissed this as wrong communication provided by the doctor to save the concerned doctor. But I will not be raising this as an issue if such a thing didn't happen to my mother. All the above said information is true and I will leave you to make the decision, whether or not to visit the hospital

As rightly mentioned in Karthik D post, you will be a self funded rat for the experiment. So, either way it's risky, you don't know when a fresher will come and make the situation better to worse because They don't even cross verify the medication and consultation with senior doctor. After, 2days of medication, I could barely stand for 3mins. I stopped taking the dolo 650 thrice a day, probably not suitable for every one. And now I'm feeling better after spending 1k for normal flew. Sometimes, it make sense to visit the health clinic instead of big hospitals for normal flew.

Worst & Cheating Hospital. I would request the covid patients not to get admitted in this hospital. I have admitted my dad on 27th April 2021 due to mild covid symptoms as he was tested positive in Apollo Hospital, OMR, Perungudi, there were no beds available in Apollo, so i took my dad to Chettinad hospital through His office referral, my dad is a central govt employee who works with Kalpakkam atomic energy. At Chettinad, initally they don't understand the seriousness of the patients health conditions and moreover it took 2 hours for us to get my dad admitted in Chettinad hospital, by god's grace we got Bed with O2 support. For the 1st 3 days they kept my dad under observation in the same room, and on the 4th day they told his oxygen levels are not getting increased so he has to be shifted to ICU immediately. And they took him to ICU and started their procedures, I was informed that Doctors in ICU wants to discuss few things related to patients past history. Myself and my sister went and told about his Medical history as my dad was BP & Sugar which is absolutely under control before getting admitted in Chettinad hospital. And the next day during review session doctors gave us positive note about his oxygen levels, but From 4th May 2021 i got very worst review about my Dad's health as he is not breathing on his own and he is fully adapted to the Ventilators so he is in a critical situation and Doctors are doubtful about his recovery. My mom got call from ICU on 2nd May 2021 from my dad that "he is not comfortable to stay in that hospital pls come and take me from this place", myself and my husband went immediately to the hospital and checked with duty nurse staffs, they complained to me that my dad is not obeying the treatment and he is removing all the tubes and lines which is connected with Oxygen system. Then i went near to my dad and consoled him that its just a matter of few days, you will be alright pls obey to what doctors says. He said yes and showed thumbs up to me. But all of a sudden on 5th May after review session Doctors called me and told that my dad's pulses are getting down and oxygen levels too. Immediately after few minutes Dr. Hemalatha came told me that he got Cardiac Arrest so we are trying our best with the last hope of treatment. but on 5th May 2021 by 6.45 pm she came told that my dad has passed away due to cardiac arrest-covid-19. I was literally speechless and it was quite disappointing about what sort of treatment they have given to him, whether they really care about the old patients are not. My dad was 59 yrs old. They even asked us to get Remdesiver to start the treatment and we have given 6 vials to the doctors but i don't think that they would have utilized the entire doses. Bcoz these doctors treatments is very artificial and irresponsible. not even getting a single hope to speak good about the doctors.

A big big thank you to the entire team for COVID-19 at this hospital for saving my mother. The entire team of doctors here are extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient and more than that very caring towards the patients. The doctors at both ICU as well as normal ward were robust and actively involved in both treatment and recovery process. Surely the remaining staff can do more and the cleanliness of covid wards can be improved but I suppose they're doing the best with available resources in these trying times. A special thank you to Dr.Guhan who works tirelessly for the well being of his patients.

Chettinad karapakam, the worst hospital and staff ever. It's been a year since I delivered the baby and still not out of the trauma because of the way they treated me. Staff and the Dr., do not have any politeness and literally treats the patient like an animal. Even though the patient is ready to wait the Dr is not ready even though there is no complications she wants to get the procedure done before 2pm after which the duty will be taken care by medical students. So she planned to induce without the concern of the caretaker. I had the worst experience every. Will never recommend this hospital for anyone. And this is how my hand turned out to be,this happened when a nurse tried to insert the vent without proper knowledge. They were least bothered even after seeing it ,didn't even prescribe any medication.Since my hand was in such a condition I could not lift my newborn for quite a long time. Since it was very painful.

My delivery was critical due to the Rh- case, and our expectation was fully on a normal delivery. Here, it was made possible. The doctors' and nurses' approach was very good, and their excellent consulting, treatment progression, and patient concern ensured that my baby was safely delivered into my hands without any complications. I am truly grateful to Dr. Suriya and the team who worked tirelessly for me. My family also shares their wishes and gratitude.
