Lately, at this museum, I've been enjoying photography exhibitions. Today, I saw the Spirits Unseen photography exhibition by Myrto Papadopoulos that was well installed in a modern, simple setting. 😊👍 The museum is huge and handicapped accessible. It has a nice café/restaurant ... where I and friends enjoyed good cups of coffee after seeing the photo exhibit! 😍😋 The museum shop is also really nice ... offering a wide range of quality gift items, many in the higher price range ... but beautiful & tastefully displayed. 😍 I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

A unique museum in the zone of Kerameikos of Athens, dedicated to the modern and contemporary art, culture and history. Located in a new industrialised building, it usually houses temporary exhibitions of high splendour, paintings, photographs, experimental actions. There is WiFi, WC and it is accessible via public transportation. There is also a cute coffee shop and the museum’s shop. Prices differ depending on the exhibition.

The space itself is impressive. Upon our visit the entire space was dedicated to photography - at least for now. Quite interesting with some very interesting photos. The museum contains a very nice cafe (bar included) as well as a gift shop.

This beautiful contemporary architecture museum, housed in a former car dealership and repair shop that got a radical renovation, has amazing spaces for exhibitions. What is more important, it has ramps for access by people with disabilities. I really enjoyed the inside atrium, and there’s an exceptional cafe for you to rest before or after your visit. The exhibition I attended about the history of a major Greek biscuit brand was exceptional! Easily accessible by metro, station Keramikos (blue line) and electric railway, station Petralona (green line).

One of the best museum in Greece. You can get some idea about Modern Greek society by visiting here. Especially, now they are exhibiting "the life before and after 1821" to celebrate 200 years greek independence war.

One of the main cultural places in Athens. Host very important exhibitions. Now we did visit an exhibition that just started about Greek famous photographer Nelly. Really interesting.

One of the most iconic female photographers of the 20th century, Nelly's was a real pioneer. She wrote history when she photographed Russian classical dancer Jelizaveta Nikolská naked on the Acropolis hill. The Benaki Museum owns the greatest collection of Nelly's photographs in the world and this exhibition is a must if you love photography. ❤️ 📸

We went here to see a photography exhibition and we were also treated to a lifetime retrospective of George Hadjimichalis. It's a beautiful space and the exhibitions were very well installed. The museum is huge and handicapped accessible. We spent the entire day and enjoyed lunch at the cafe. Extensive gift shop, helpful staff, spotless restrooms. Highly recommend.

Nice exhibition on Smyrna. The day I went there were no tour guides for the whole week but still, I enjoyed the exhibition a lot. Rich exhibits and accurate portrayal. A bit depressing thinking of the history but worth seeing.

A jewel of museum. I visited the exhibition for Asia Minor 1922 disaster and it was very well organized and presented. Must see, but most important to know the history behind the events.

This is a museum off the beaten track. The exhibitions are focused on a particular subject each time . The moment this is being written it is about "Greeks in Asia Minor" and in particular the tragic events at Smyrna and the exchange of population. Very well done. It is though quite large and if you read everything you will need a lot of time.

The museum was closed as per the sign on the building, however their website does not indicate the same. What a pity, not very professional and very disappointing. Information is not up to date - made the effort to visit and left extremely disappointed.

The website says they should be open on an early Saturday afternoon in July. we got there and a man at reception said they are closed and we should leave so I rate this museum very poorly. Definitely call before you go because the website is unreliable.

Went primarily to see the interesting building, designed by architects Maria Kokkinou and Andreas Kourkoulas. They don't have a permanent collection and hold temporary exhibitions, so check them out.

Excellent exhibition. Very nice place to have a coffee/snack/lunch. Very stylish Museum Shop. It is worth paying a visit. I love this place!

  • 2/5 Nikolas S. 2 years ago on Google
Compared to other museums the ticket price was very high considering that you can see only part of the museum's exhibits...unforgiving. The knowledge of the staff working there is non existent and in some displays the legends were not reflecting the actual paintings. Very poor performance compared to other museums. Still the coffee and gift shop areas are the best to enjoy...

Part of the network of benaki museums around Athens, which are some of the best private museums in Europe. The benaki of Piraeus has amazing architecture, hosts very interesting shows and has a great museum shop. This museum is unique also for its annual book bazaar and other cultural events, such as, concerts and the exhibitions cover a wide range of subjects.

I shall explain if the management doesn't contact me within a week. It's about the guards manners and conduct. No contact from them after all this time. They obviously don't care about their services' evaluation. If someone wants to know comment here and I shall pm.

A place for art and feelings! The architecture of the building is beautiful and the different exhibitions talking place are for every type of preference! The museum is pretty big and can get you tired but the thoughts and feelings that outshine through art worth the tiredness!
