Excellent stay in an institution of a hotel right in central Khartoum. George and Marcus are magnificent - organized, helpful and efficient. Clean rooms, good showers, decent wifi and home cooked food. Hope to go back one day.

Best hotel experience in town. Hotel owners helped me arrange visa, permit, and trip professionally. I saw lots of journalists, archaeologists, and travellers love it here. Atmosphere is like home, I had a good sleep every night. As it is very hard to find a nice restaurant here in Khartoum, I found Acropole's restaurant a decent place to have dinner and lunch too, food are superb.

George and his family are great at running this hotel! The stay was perfect, aircon worked very well, hot & cold water, good wifi. The hotel is very very clean. You feel really welcome here! George was able to organize a tour of Meroë on short notice. All the bureaucracy (travel permits, etc.) was taken care of. The tour price was very competitive. Highly recommended!

A truly top notch establishment. The owners take care of their guests and are extraordinarily helpful, as well as knowledgeable about everything to do with Sudan. I will definitely stay here again the next time I come to Khartoum.

The Acropole is the oldest existing hotel in Khartoum, that has been in service without interruption. It was founded in 1952 by Panagiotis Pagoulatos from Cephalonia, who had left war-torn Greece during WWII, and his wife Flora, who was from the community of the Greeks in Egypt, specifically from Alexandria.

Budget hotel. Not located in a fascinating area but the family run hotel is amazing. They keep you comfortable as humanly possible. Just book a room and ask for airport pickup. You will find assistance at the airport from immigration till you reach the hotel. I don't stay anywhere but Acropole Hotel. Extremely clean rooms. The management is a call away for all you needs.Try to use their recommended taxis and other information you might like to know. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for short and long business trips.

Your best option in a post-apocalyptic looking Khartoum. Very clean with excellent services, and they speak your language. Easy and cheap to take a cab to anywhere. In the entrance to the hotel you'll find not only honest deals on handicrafts but also the last working iPhone 1 - check it out!

Great accommodation in the centre of the city. Nice meals at breakfast and dinner. Small simple gym on terrace to use at night. The owners will organise your every need when in Sudan. Can be pricier than organising things yourself though.

Stayed here in 1986 and were treated like royalty. We were even made temporary members of the Greek Club. Have the fondest memories and would love to return one day.

What a fabulous place. Have stayed here several times over the last 20 or so years and have always been favorably impressed. Friendly, helpful, clean and comfortable. If you’re looking for fancy or upscale, look elsewhere.

Don't pass up the opportunity to stay at the Acropole. It is a slice of Khartoum history and the owners and staff all make you feel incredibly welcome. The rooms are clean, the WiFi is strong and the food is tasty. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Old hotel run by Greek family... friendly atmosphere... wireless available.. clean and healthy food is served... The toilets aren't suitable for muslims because they are not provided by water hoses... It's located in the capital Khartoum... in alzubair street...

Just back from an amazing 3 days in Sudan which was largely thanks to this hotel and its senior management. The hospitality, attention to detail, and warmth of the senior management and staff were second to none and easily show up chain hotels. We organised a day tour to the Meroe pyramids and several other archaeological sites north of Khartoum through the hotel. The tour, vehicle and driver were all excellent, and the price was quite competitive. The hotel’s free city tour is highly recommended too. Many thanks to George and his team for the highly enjoyable stay.

Very nice and traditional hotel. Not the most luxury one, but for sure the best in all Khartoum. The best service by far.

Acropole is a family-run hotel and everyone there goes out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. The hotel has made our trip to Sudan hassle-free and easy and the lovely Greek family running it always has a smile on their face, is friendly and beyond helpful. The facilities and clean, the food is excellent. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a smooth trip to Khartoum.

This isn't a five star hotel - that implies somewhere posh and grand. The Acropole is a friendly helpful hotel that takes service to a higher level. The building is old and well worn, but clean and comfortable. I've stayed there several times and take friends there with confidence they will have good memories of their stay in Sudan.

This is the best hotel in the world. It is run by a Greek family who arrived in the 30s. They combine in an artful manner Sudan to Europe while offering the best of both worlds. Mr. George who is one of the fantastic owners will load your day with little surprises and will dedicate all the attention needed to facilitate your stay and have you discover the best of Khartoum and beyond. The hotel is full of archaeologists, journalists and NGO members. Finally, the Acropole is a place where the Mediterranean tiptoes silently into the depth of beautiful africa.

The Acropole has the nicest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel, and is an absolute pleasure to stay at. I would recommend it to anyone coming to Khartoum!

  • 5/5 Krisztina B. 1 year ago on Google • 2 reviews
Although it is far from the prettiest and most glamorous place to stay, it is without a doubt the friendliest place I have ever been. The directness of the family that runs the hotel and the staff is amazing, and their ability to solve the problems and helpfulness is unique.
