It's very clear that the consular section is managed by Sudanese people whom are very famous with their bureaucratic attitude. We are waiting for un determined time and no one picks up the phone or even reply to emails regularly.

WILL DO EVERYTHING TO AVOID HELPING AMERICANS IN KHARTOUM! As an American living overseas I don’t feel protected or that my rights are being preserved. The US Embassy in Khartoum has their phones set up in a way that makes it impossible to talk to someone unless it’s an emergency. I had to fight with people working there for them to mail my ballot for a senate runoff election after they initially refused to let me in and told me to mail it myself because it wasn’t for the general election (the man who mailed it for me was extremely nice and apologetic for what i had gone through so don’t wanna be unfair to him). I was just trying to exercise my right to vote and they were making it difficult! The waiting area at the embassy is outdoors and really hot and the way Sudanese people have no privacy when doing their visa interviews just blows my mind. The US Embassy NEEDS to do better! Nobody should have to pay DHL to mail their ballot back home!

This site is closed. The embassy moved to a new location outside of the city in 2011.
