What an amazing evening it turned out to be. I absolutely loved the sections on Japan and Korea. Sadly there was very little English on the displays... that would have put the cherry on the cake for me. There is staff present in all the halls and I did think the tickets were pricey but only because most museums are free in Korea and very inexpensive in Vietnam and Cambodia. All that said.. it was a beautiful evening.

This is one of my favorite museums in Moscow and I absolutely do enjoy the scope and quality of the exhibits (especially in Korean and Iranian sections), but with current covid-related rules in place I'd like to actively discourage you from visiting now. First, 1.5hr they allocate per session is absolutely not enough to cover all the rooms (I personally would guess at least 2.5-3hrs to browse through), and further, we had to book the last session today, 6.30-8.00pm, and the watchmen babushkas kicked us out 7.45pm, making us leave lots of the collections unseen. Discontent.

Entrance was little difficult to find but one staff woman helped me to go inside. Good place to learn orient , not only for student. There are many oriental arts from Middle East to Japan. It look like gradation of civilization.

Nice place to visit. A very traditional museum with diverse exhibits. Could maybe use a 21st century rethink.

(Translated by Google) I really liked it! I highly recommend taking a guided tour! At first, we looked at the exposition on our own, since we arrived earlier than the appointed time of the excursion. With the story of a wonderful guide (unfortunately we do not remember the full name), the exhibits "came to life" and the whole family was transported to the distant past! The winter house of a cricket that took part in arena battles, do you know how it was made? Oh, yes, the whole process was there! ) Netsuke, these miniature masterpieces, fascinate with the quality of workmanship and a variety of shapes! Ivory carvings - vases, figurines, caskets, this must be seen live! The admiration for the craftsmen who have created such splendor is simply off scale! We will definitely come again, we did not master everything at once!

This museum had huge collections of East and western Asian art and they had a beautiful Nepal exhibit. They had a decent size Japanese and Korean exhibits with a small China exhibit but the had quite a bit of Asian countries, some in Russia (Caucasus) and the far East like Thailand and Cambodia on display. A great museum if you are looking to read into a bit of many Asian cultures.

The museum has quite a few exhibitions, with art from ancient Iran, Korea, Japan, Central Asia and more! There is a variety of art, from paintings, sculptures, pottery, and ancient costumes. However, it was not very English-friendly, only some exhibitions had translations.

A fairly small museum worth visiting if you are interested in the Oriental and Middle Eastern culture. Don't go there expecting to spend more than a couple of hours, though. Almost all exhibits have English descriptions, but the text feels very stiff and unnecessarily scientific. I think it takes some effort to write something about netsuke that would make the reader doze off. Almost no text on the exhibits is translated, which is a huge shame. The Japanese collection is small, and so is the Chinese one. Many Soviet museum stereotypes are valid in this museum, also, such as every single item being hidden deep behind non-anti-glare glass, or the staff members being too numerous and not hesitating to chat, eat something, or listen to loud radio right next to the exhibits.

(Translated by Google) A very nice and cozy museum. How many times I have not understood the plan of the building. It's funny. Nice and interesting collection of Tibetan, Mongolian culture. Carpets are a separate cult (Original) (Translated by Google) I highly recommend visiting this museum! I am not an avid visitor to museums, but I am delighted with their collection. A large number of incredibly rare exhibits that help to plunge into the atmosphere of the past and feel all the elegance and diversity of oriental culture. In addition, the museum organizes tea ceremonies where you can taste unusual and very interesting Chinese teas under the guidance of an experienced tea master. Of the minuses, one can only single out a weak modernization of toilets and the absence of a cafe, but for the sake of such a museum you can tolerate. Delight is guaranteed to you.

Good number of interesting exhibits but sub-par in terms of the actual museum layout and narrative. You are more often than not greeted with walls of miniscule text written in an unnecessarily descriptive, Scholarly manner and English-language descriptions can sometimes be missing entirely. Not a foreigner-friendly museum in the least (staff may not speak or read a word of English). Visitor's tip: don't bother spending time immersing yourself in the provided information. Skip through the museum quickly for a purely visual tour and you will likely get more out of it.

(Translated by Google) A rich collection, but trouble with navigation. There is no logical route through the halls. The audio guide is inconvenient and does not cover all halls and exhibits. I do not advise taking money down the drain. The Roerichs' study is very small, the paintings hang in several rows, not everything is visible.

(Translated by Google) Nice museum. Apparently he used to be soviet, but now he is correcting himself and with each visit it gets better (was only 2 times). There is room for development, but the collection of expans deserves the highest praise.

(Translated by Google) Great exhibits, but complete collapse in the sense of navigating the museum. The audio guide delivers separately: finding numbers for him has become a real challenge, the narrative is extremely chaotic and sometimes describes missing objects (some were later accidentally found in other display cases, but not all). The presentation itself is also sometimes meaningless and practically not associated with exposure. Bottom line: in order to somehow understand something, you first need to buy a guide to the hall (yes, they are separate for each hall, and the price is from 400 rubles).

(Translated by Google) A wonderful museum with a rich collection. In Kiev, there is a Khanenko Museum (during the Soviet era - a museum of Western and Eastern art), it is also good, like its "eastern" half. But here the collection is much richer and more diverse. I recommend it to anyone interested in the East, art and history. (Translated by Google) A very interesting and beautiful museum. There are, in my opinion, amazing exhibits. Have been 2 times. The second is this year. But I removed one star, as it looks like after the quarantine they save lighting; on the ground floor stuffiness (in a mask, as for me - impossible at all). And the Chinese hall disappointed - the lighting is dim, in the past it was brighter, and the glasses are dirty (incomprehensible stains), because of this it is difficult to see very beautiful, but small exhibits. But the next hall in Japan is exemplary - the glass just sparkled and the ventilation works perfectly.
