Construction of the two-story, five-domed temple began in 1687 under Patriarch Iaokim. The funds were provided by local residents of Kadashevskaya Sloboda - merchant Kondrat Markovich Dobrynin and his son Longin Kondratovich. In 1695, a 43-meter six-tiered bell tower was built, which was popularly called the “Kadashevskaya Candle”. The Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Kadashi is an outstanding monument of the “Moscow Baroque”. During the Patriotic War of 1812, the French plundered the church and set up a stable in it. Leaving Moscow, the French set fire to the temple - as a result, the bell tower was badly damaged. Restoration work began only fifteen years later and lasted three decades. Metropolitan Vladimir (Epiphany), Saints Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) and Philaret (Drozdov), and Saint Aristoclius of Moscow served in this church.

A very interesting place. There is a museum and interactive excursions. The church itself is very unusual inside. You can climb the belfry and see an interesting overview.

The most beautiful Moscow Baroque temple. Inside we met two friendly women who told the history of the temple and offered to go out to the walkway and examine the temple from this angle. Then, accompanied by one of the ladies, we went up to the bell tower (150 rubles per person). The views are wonderful. The staircase is spiral, very narrow with high steps, but not long.

The temple is very beautiful! Unique architecture. This is a very rare style, almost extinct - Moscow Baroque. The history of the emergence of the temple is as sad as most of the temples in the Zamoskvorechye region. The founder was a great philanthropist, and all that remains of him is a portrait on a red brick wall.

A typical representative of the Naryshkin Baroque. Active work with children ---- Be sure to take an excursion to the bell tower: it offers a super view of the Kremlin and Zamoskvorechye

Moscow is a city of discoveries, and for St. Petersburg residents it is a very special, Russian, merchant, suburban world. In Kadashi, a magical door into the capital’s past opened for us. The temple appears of stunning beauty and power to those who know where to turn off the main tourist routes. Seeing him is already a gift. We were doubly lucky; we spontaneously went on a tour led by Evgeniy Davutov. Thank you for the detailed and thorough story about how and how the settlement lived, about the architectural features, perestroikas and researchers; about the crypt, where the remains of many Muscovites were found; about the significance of the temple in Kadashi in the life of Moscow and its revival. We climbed the bell tower with the last rays of the May sun and looked at Moscow in all its glory. Thank you very much, Evgeniy!!! It was a real miracle that will be remembered for a lifetime. God bless your church, the rector and all the parishioners!!!
