It was a fantastic experience at Kinatei. Yoshiko is very friendly and spoke to us in English, describing all of the delicious food. The food is very good value, 1200 yen for a tasty lunch set that was all vegetarian. She even took us to Nara park after the meal. If you are a vegetarian or Vegan who is visiting Nara, I would highly recommend that you take the time to enjoy a meal here!

We found this amazing vegetarian restaurant on our visit to Nara. The food was delicious and would recommend anyone looking for authentic Japanese cuisine. On top of that the hospitality was out of the world. We had a great time and will definitely visit again on our next trip to Nara.

Small vegetarian eatery tucked in a residential district a few minutes walk from the Nara JR train station. Extremely friendly lady boss took the time and effort to explain the various ingredients that are commonly found in Japanese food which may not be suitable for vegans / vegetarians. Food wise, thoroughly enjoyed the soup ramen, and when the lady boss saw me pinching my friend's tofu and konnyaku jelly to try, she gave me a complimentary small dish, and it was really really good -- savoury tofu, which tastes a little like cheese, had bits of chewy konnyaku jelly, vegetables and mushroom mixed in, giving the dish this very interesting taste and texture! Based on memory, there were a few choices to choose from, including "four dishes and soup", ramen, and udon, while sets include drinks (coffee / tea) and desserts+fruits. Do note that the VAT/GST will be added to the bill upon payment.

A True Vegan Japanese Dining Experience We had the privilege of eating at Yoshiko's restaurant 3 times and we were very satisfied with the wonderful food Yoshiko and her daughter Hanako prepared for us. It was more than just a meal, it was an experience, because of the warm and genuine hospitality we received. In Japan , particularly in smaller regional areas, it is difficult to find good Vegan options. Kinatei is more than this! It is a truly authentic Vegan Japanese dining experience. It is worth it just to meet the legend herself Yoshiko. Thank you Yoshiko and Hanako for gifting us with the most memorable dining experience of our trip to Japan.

Come here if you want to eat traditional Japanese vegan food in a nice and home-like atmosphere! I got the lunch set and I loved every single little dish I ate, it was a really really good meal, the best I’ve had until now here in Japan. Also, the owner was really kind and I really enjoyed chatting with her. Loved it!

Even though it's written that they're open on saturday's lunch time, it was closed. It's better to call them before go there. I'll give 4 stars this time, but I feel like I might change to 5 after go there! =)

The woman who works here is so nice and sweet, and her food is super delicious. Completely vegetarian (and vegan if you so choose). And since we were on our honeymoon, she gave us souvenirs and offered to drive us to Nara Park, which is way beyond service! Loved it

We had an excellent lunch. The food is very authentic. Superb service and the owner and daughter made every effort to please us. The vegan entrees we're delicious. Wonderful jerbal teas and we had a sweet potato with soy cream desert. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The lady boss can speak Chinese and very friendly. She took the effort to explain the dishes ingredients and origins. Highly recommended.

We went there for lunch and she led us to a table opposite to the open kitchen entrance. So i sat down with my back to the kitchen because i didn't want someone to watch me while eating (we were the only guests). The owner came and tried hard to persuade me to sit on the other side, but i didn't want to. After a few times i said no and that this seat is good she let me be. I felt very uncomfortable at that moment and hoped that she would just leave us alone. Unfortunately, I had the feeling from the beginning that this person was very pushy and was afraid that she might overstep boundaries. But we had the hope, that the dishes are good, so we stayed. We ordered and after she gave the order to the kitchen she came back and said to us, that we have to leave because unfortunately there is a reservation in 15 minutes and we should come back later. What? Yeah, something like that can happen. But she tried really hard to make us a reservation two hours later and wanted our contact details (what we did not because we were hungry and annoyed of her).

I came to this restaurant once about a year ago. We ordered rice combo and noodle soup. They both tasted amazingly. The noodle soup was too yummy so I ordered second bowl. The owner was unbelievable nice and friendly. She even brought us to Todaiji after the lunch (I honestly was so shocked that she provided us the ride😍.) I’ll definitely come back if I have a chance.

Great food and nice company. The owner was so kind and gave us food advice to visit Toda-ji in Nara Park. She even said she would’ve given us a ride if she didn’t have other customers at the shop! We appreciated her hospitality and the yummy food!

Very nice food and friendly owner. Food was prepared with sincerity and strict selection of organic ingredients. If you have big group, would be best to make reservation. I would highly recommend to visit if you are going to Nara.
