Lets address the negative comments about the cost first. 3000 Baht per person. How much is your food shopping bill? How much would it be if one person ate between 149 and 169 kg  of vegetation daily? Times that by 7, (number of elephants here) Plus all the other costs, like buying the elephant from the owner, medical bills, etc. Plus they are not guaranteed to have people visiting each day. People spend that on a one weekend drinking without batting a eyelid, but put it to a good cause and they complain. Anyway, rant over. Had a amazing time this morning. Very friendly and informative staff. This sanctuary requires booking first. Do not expect to wash or bathe with the elephants. You get picked up from your hotel. You have a safety briefing on elephant etiquette. There are lockers for your bags. You then make some elephant food and feed them to the elephants. Then you walk round to see the other elephants, feeding them from you bag of bananas. Then you see them bath and have a mud bath. Then its time to feed your self with selection of complimentary vegetarian meals.

If you want to see the elephants in a safe happy environment this is the best way to experience them. Their stories are heart breaking of how they were treated in industry and tourism before rescued but then spending the day making food and walking with the elephant feeding them to food you made and water melon is not to be missed people - and you are contributing to making a difference, a once in a life time experience for many and I am sure one you will never forget!

This is a place doing their very best for the rescued elephants in their care. These elephants have had a long, tough life in rough conditions working in logging and tourism. Return to the wild is out of the question, so this sanctuary is the next best thing. The elephants are able to roam freely and are fed a carefully monitored diet designed specifically for their age to ensure the best outcomes for their health. As a guest, we get the chance to learn about the elephants, feed them by hand, and get up close for pictures. An unforgettable experience and a place that deserves your support!

A great experience with elephants. The tour include preparing food, feeding them and watching them bathe in the pool and in the mud. It costs 3000 baht by person. The elephants really seem to be cared after in here. The guides were super nice, really knowledgeable, and passionate about their jobs. The elephants we saw were rescue and 50-60 aged who spend most of their years working for hauling the logs and then for tourists to ride on ... It felt great seeing them enjoying their freedom at last. As a great plus, food at the lunch buffet was super delicious !

They come pick you up at your hotel which is very nice. They take you back at the end also and they also serv me some food before going back. An actual sanctuary where elephants are not used for stupid tourists activities such as trekking. You hear every story of each elephants (there are 7 elephants in this sanctuary, can't get more because they don't have enough space but they opened another sanctuary recently which is much bigger). The people who works there are really welcoming and work for the wellbeing of the animal. Overall, the sanctuary deserves a visit. Each visitor contributes for the saving of another elephant in the future. Thanks for your work guys !

Turned out to be one of the highlights of our visit to Koh Samui. Enjoyed the participative way you learn about taking care of the elephants. Recommend going. Worth supporting their important work

We have also visited the sanctuary in Chang Mai and this sanctuary is run exactly the same. We would only come to this company wherever we are in Thailand. All the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and gave us lots of time to feed the elephants. The staff look after the elephants very well and it's clear they trust them which keeps the public safe too when visiting. We had a lovely lunch and would definitely visit the other sanctuaries in Phuket and wherever else they open 🙂😍

Fantastic place, really well looked after rescue elephants, with proper care taken of them. You can prepare food to feed the elephants and walk around with them in their home, feeding them and watching them bath (in the mud and their pool!) with the guides. Absolutely no riding or bathing with them, which is really bad for them (avoid any so called "sanctuaries" that offer these kinds of things). Our guides we're great, funny and really knowledge with an obvious passion for caring for them. Highly recommend if you want to get up close to an elephant, in the right way, and at the same time, support the on going rescue of these amazing creatures.

Genuine care for elderly elephants who have had tough past lives. Could feel the passion of the staff and could see how well the elephants are treated at this sanctuary. On this visit we were able to help make the food for the elephants, then take that same food and feed them. They have a special mix of mashed bananas, fibre, tamarind and other vitamin bearing ingredients, and then they have watermelon and pineapple. We got to walk around Their field and meet all the different elephant residents of the sanctuary. Highly recommended.

Only focused for tourists. Nice to have lunch included. But have doubts about whether this is truly an elephant sanctuary given the size of the enclosure and no sub divisions. Also the elephants just * happened to go for a swim* right at the end of the tour. Guides where most nice. British guy during the intro video was annoying.

The elephants here are taken such good care of - no violence or aggression is used to control them. that means no hooks, rods or beatings. no riding on the elephants, and if they don't want to interact they aren't forced. they do though, because they know the team are bringing them bananas and rice treats! beautiful, clever creatures, go support the hard work the team are doing to make their lives better, or if you can't go, donate through their website. you can even buy a cake option, which is a giant fruit platter with your message on in special frosting - an amazing gift for a birthday, end-of-year teacher gift (they do not need another mug or tiny succulent) and will show you the beauties eating it!

Had a great time seeing and feeding the elephants! Overall rather expensive but had a great time and would still recommend it. The staff were very friendly and patient, and the ride to and from the hotel was very convenient. Pickup was very close to the actual tour start time unlike what the site says, they communicated the day before when the ride is actually going to be. Also unlike what the site and email say, you don't necessarily need closed-toe shoes, my sandals were just fine. Also they give out water bottles, no need to bring your own. The food at the end wasn't great, but that's not what we came for...

Great to see the rescue elephants up close and get the chance to feed them, take photos of them and basically support the rehabilitation process. Have clean toilets available. I would recommend bringing boots as it gets muddy when it rains... and loads of mosquito repellent. Lunch is provided but only watermelon, pineapple, mango, fries and spring rolls... so don't expect much for lunch.

Spent a lovely morning here feeding and learning more about the elephants of Thailand. You can tell that the organization cares alot for the well-being of the animals. A light breakfast and lunch was included + they offer pick ups and drop offs from your hotel/Airbnb. Overall I had a great time!

Probably the most memorable experience on the island for us. Very educational, I learned a lot about their diet and special needs, the elephants past lives and the difficult situation for elephants in Thailand. We felt really safe, the tour guide explained what to do and what not to do very well. The preparation of their food and the feeding were so much fun. In addition, the staff and facilities are really nice, there were even some snacks at the end of the tour. A really nice way of supporting ethical elephant tourism.

We had a Fantastic experience at Samui Elephant Sanctuary. You learn about each of the elephants on the site and get to prepare their food which you then feed them as you walk around the site. This is an ethical elephant sanctuary - they are free to walk about the site and mingle with other elephants. Lots of complementary food and drink available for the humans also.

If you want to see elephants, this is the only ethical way of doing it. Supporting a local sanctuary helping elephants that were used for labour. These magnificent beasts invite you in their sanctuary where you can respectfully interact with them, prepare them food and feed them. It is but a glimpse in the life of the people dedicated to change the condition of elephants in Thailand. Would totally recommend.

Best experience I have ever had! Very educational but Pik had the best way to make it so fun, he is super funny. Making the food was amazing! The walk with them was not forced, elephants love bananas, showed them bags and that was it. Like Pik said no food no friend, which reminds me of my cats. I went on my birthday and they surprised me with them offering me a special treat to give to the elephants, it was amazing experience. I was so touched by there kindness and genuineness. 100% recommend. It is 100% authentic! Also heads up please be patient you are in a real place they do not rush the elephants. You go at their pace not the other way around. Thank you so much Samui Elephant Sanctuary! Keep doing the amazing work you have been doing! Kap kun ka.

Amazing tour of the elephant sanctuary, the staff are friendly and do a wonderful job looking after the elephants. We got to feed them, watch them in the natural habitat, and bath them. Definitely recommend visit while in Koh Samui!

The elephants get to live in dignity and are happy. The staff is so dedicated and work so nice with the animals, you can feel the love. Really eager to educate the visitors about the elephants and how they should be treated. No humiliation by letting the visitors ride the elephants. The more people visit, the more elephants can be rescued.

We heard a lot good things about the sanctuary but we had been still very critical because we saw so many „sanctuaries“ in our life’s that we could not believe it that it’s really a sanctuary. We arrived and got a good explaination about the elephants and also about how to handle them during the next hours! Then we made food for them - we got a lot of information what they need and how it’s made. Everything was explained very well! Then you are allowed to feed them but not to touch them! You should always hold a certain distance! It was all guided and you were able to g

Great experience learning about the elephants staying at the sanctuary. It's good to see them be able to live out the rest of their lives freely there. Activities included feeding the elephants and learning about their individual personalities. There were plenty of opportunities to take photos with them as well.

This experience is value for money. The elephants are treated well and the ethos is that of a real sanctuary. No riding or working for the elephants. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Comes with pick up and drop off and lunch. If you love animals this is the place for you - and I don't say that lightly.

Loved this experience! 7 females around 60 years old that seemed very happy. Very happy to not see them being ridden or chained up. Enjoyed making them snacks and feeding them freely. Watched one play in a large pool they are able to bathe in. Knowledgeable guide. Wish all the abused elephants were taken care of as this place did.

These are some super lucky elephants to be rescued by this organization. My daughters had a great time feeding them bananas and learning about their stories.

Truly amazing experience, although prices it’s going to good course. We were lucky to have it all to ourselves, however the more visitors the better for elephants 🐘❤️💙

They do an amazing job by giving the best treatment to these abused elephants. The tourguide was very passionate and kind. He gave us a lot of time to ask questions, feed the animals and learn about them. He gave us a lot of informations about the elephants story and background. The price is not high if you compare how much food and care elefants need. Every Baht should be worth if you can help elephants to have an happy and worthy lifetime outside of being abused and used as a touristic attractions. Thank you so much for this experience
