Review
for
Samui
Fishing
Club:
I
went
to
Samui
Fishing
Club
in
April
on
3
occasions,
for
2
afternoon
sessions
and
a
morning
session.
I
have
been
to
the
venue
before
in
2019
when
it
was
Fishing
Park
Samui,
during
those
2
sessions
in
2019
I
managed
to
catch
several
excellent
fish.
The
venue
has
changed
hands
since
then
and
a
lot
has
happened
due
to
Covid,
so
I
was
a
little
apprehensive
to
see
what
if
anything
had
changed
at
the
venue.
I
prebooked
the
sessions
online
which
was
very
easy
and
put
down
a
deposit
online
through
Paypal.
I
got
to
the
venue
on
a
Saturday
afternoon,
I
was
pleasantly
surprised
to
see
not
a
lot
had
changed
from
when
I
came
in
2019.
I
met
with
Tom
who
is
1
of
the
managers
there
and
a
great
guy,
very
laid
back.
If
you
message
them
on
Facebook,
it
would
usually
be
Graham
who
comes
back
to
you
and
he
is
a
great
guy
as
well,
very
knowledgeable
about
the
venue
and
the
fishing
there
including
tactics
and
best
locations
for
specific
fish.
They
do
have
new
guides
which
is
to
be
expected,
some
are
from
Thailand,
and
some
are
from
Myanmar
(Burma).
Their
English
isn’t
the
best
however,
they
can
understand
you
easily
and
you
can
understand
them.
If
you
are
a
keen
angler
at
home
like
me
and
have
specific
fishing
questions
about
tactics,
then
I
suggest
you
use
Google
Translate
which
worked
very
well.
If
you
are
just
a
pleasure
angler
looking
for
a
good
afternoon’s
fun,
then
you
will
be
perfectly
fine
without
Google
Translate.
I
had
specific
species
I
wanted
to
target
this
time
around,
I
explained
to
the
guides
I
was
looking
for
an:
Arapaima,
Mekong
Catfish,
Alligator
Gar
and
a
big
Red
Tail
Catfish.
Before
I
arrived,
I
picked
the
Sala’s
(pegs)
that
I
wanted,
and
we
started
on
them,
however
the
guides
quickly
informed
me
that
there
were
better
pegs
to
stalk
my
fish,
so
we
moved.
If
you
just
want
to
target
the
Arapaima
and
nothing
else,
then
Sala
2,3
are
good.
If
you
want
a
mixed
bag
including
an
Arapaima
then
you
want
Sala’s
9,
12
or
5.
You
get
2
heavy
duty
rods
with
bait
runners;
bait
is
provided
for
all
fishing,
you
also
get
2
bite
alarms.
You
can
do
as
much
or
as
little
work
as
you
want,
the
guides
can
bait
up,
and
cast
out
for
you
(which
if
you
are
looking
for
specific
fish
I
would
recommend)
or
you
can
do
the
lot
depending
on
the
experience
you
want.
When
fishing
for
Arapaima
I
would
suggest
letting
the
guides
set
the
hook
as
I
wasn’t
able
to
set
the
hook
on
2
runs,
however
the
runs
where
the
guides
did
set
I
lost
which
is
the
game
we
play
as
fishermen,
however
they
are
better
at
doing
it
because
they
do
it
all
the
time.
The
guides
will
net
all
the
fish
and
do
the
fish
care
as
well,
you
can
either
get
in
the
water
for
pictures
or
have
the
guides
hold
them
up.
Unless
they
are
Gar
the
fish
do
not
leave
the
water
which
is
for
safety
which
I
completely
agree
with.
All
the
Sala’s
have
plugs
(you
will
need
an
adapter
obviously)
they
also
come
with
space
for
4
people
to
sit
and
2
fans
which
are
always
needed,
they
are
also
shaded
so
you
can
stay
out
of
the
sun.
There
is
a
saltwater
pool
still
if
you
want
to
bring
your
partner
and
she
doesn’t
want
to
fish.
They
come
round
regularly
to
ask
if
you
need
anything
to
drink
or
eat
and
the
food
is
still
good
quality
if
you
want
Thai
food.
The
team
went
above
and
beyond
to
help
me
secure
the
fish
I
was
looking
for,
I
managed
to
capture
my
Redtail
Catfish,
Mekong
Catfish
and
Alligator
Gar
however,
the
Arapaima
were
elusive
this
time
despite
a
few
runs,
unfortunately
Arapaima
are
very
difficult
to
land,
and
my
first
trip
was
a
fluke,
I
think.
During
the
3
sessions
I
finished
with
a
total
of
29
fish:
Red
Tail
Catfish
x3
Mekong
Catfish
x11
Pacu
x2
Alligator
Gar
x3
Carp
x10
Including
a
very
large
Mekong
around
45/50KG
in
weight.
I
would
defiantly
recommend
the
venue
to
anyone,
whether
you
are
an
experienced
angler
or
just
looking
to
kill
an
afternoon
and
have
some
fun.
Go

their
Facebook
Page

Club
to
see
some
of
the
fish
I
caught
and
others.
