Full
disclosure:
This
review
is
of
my
trip
in
November
2017-
I
don't
doubt
changes
have
happened
since.
Would
give
3.5
stars
This
was
my
first
time
to
Thailand,
and
Vikasa
was
the
first
stop
of
a
2-week
trip.
I
booked
this
as
a
3N
yoga
retreat,
joined
by
a
friend
who
stayed
here
for
the
island
(he
didn't
practice
yoga).
Money
was
stolen
from
our
accommodations
over
(at
least)
2
days.
The
first
time
we
noticed
money
missing,
we
thought
maybe
we
dropped
it
somewhere
without
noticing.
However,
the
day
after
(on
the
morning
of
our
7AM
departure,)
we
realized
more
money
was
missing
(THB,
CAD,
USD,
roughly
600USD
in
total).
I
reached
out
to
Vikasa
directly,
and
got
“We
apologized
for
unexpected
accidents
happen,
we
have
a
plans
to
set
up
the
safety
boxes
in
future
soon
because
we
are
upgrading
new
version
at
the
moment.
Please
accept
our
sincere
apology
in
this
issues.
Thank
you
very
much
for
your
comments,
we
will
solving
this
problem
in
shortly.”
I
replied,
but
did
not
hear
from
them
again.
Basically
keep
your
cash
on
you,
or
you’re
SOL.
Now
to
the
resort
itself.
Atmosphere
&
check-in:
We
organized
a
transfer
from
the
airport
to
Vikasa
(600THB+7%
VAT)
which
was
pretty
seamless.
Reception
is
right
at
the
front
of
the
entrance.
After
providing
our
reservation
details,
we
were
brought
to
the
Cafe
across
from
reception
to
enjoy
a
complimentary
smoothie
while
they
prepared
our
check-in.
The
ocean
views
all
around
the
resort
are
splendid
(see
photos).
Rooms:
We
booked
the
Beach
Bungalow
Superior.
Two
single
beds,
ensuite
bathroom
(with
limited
hot
water),
and
cute
balcony.
Our
bungalow
was
quite
a
ways
away
from
the
reception
and
cafe,
but
steps
to
the
beach,
yoga
salas,
and
pool
-
relatively
quiet.
Ants
occasionally
got
in,
but
we
were
careful
if
barefoot.
No
safes
in
the
room-
I
asked
reception
about
this,
as
security
boxes
were
advertised
on
the
website
I
booked
on.
The
only
security
boxes
were
at
reception,
so
we
naively
decided
to
hide
our
cash
in
our
luggage.
Mosquitoes
were
quite
aggressive
around
here,
I
strongly
recommend
buying
repellent
in
Thailand
(I
brought
from
home,
but
seemed
ineffective).
Because
of
the
distance
from
the
cafe
and
other
rooms,
our
spot
was
pretty
quiet.
Yoga
Sala:
A
YTT
was
taking
place
in
one
of
the
salas
and
renovation
in
another,
so
all
the
classes
I
took
ended
up
in
the
White
Sala.
This
sala
was
large
and
open,
facing
the
ocean
which
you
could
hear
during
practice.
I
recommend
bringing
a
drink
container
-
there
was
a
cooler
here
you
could
fill
from.
Mats
provided,
and
cleaning
products
for
after.
Pool:
The
pool
area
was
next
to
the
YTT
sala,
we
would
see
yogis
gather,
but
did
not
find
it
noisy.
There
were
6
lounge
chairs
available,
and
lots
of
sun
exposure.
There
were
no
fresh
towels
when
we
went,
so
we
brought
our
own
from
the
room.
The
edge
of
the
pool
is
a
faux
runoff
into
the
ocean,
was
one
of
my
fav
spots.
(Pic
included)
Food:
Our
reservation
included
meals.
Meals
were
hosted
in
the
Cafe
-
a
buffet-like
spread
with
a
wide
variety
of
fresh
veggies
and
fruits,
some
meats
and
seafoods,
rice,
soup
for
lunch
and
dinner;
fresh
fruits
and
veggies,
cereal,
oatmeal,
eggs,
rice
at
breakfast.
There
would
be
a
drink
dispenser
or
jugs
of
water,
tea,
or
juice
at
each
meal,
but
beverages
from
the
menu
(lattes,
smoothies,
etc)
were
extra
charge.
The
cafe
is
open
between
meals
for
sustenance.
