From
mid-June
to
mid-July,
B&S
ventured
to
the
Fitness
Retreat
Thailand
in
Koh
Samui.
We
decided
to
take
the
plunge
on
a
month
long
retreat
-
we
had
become
very
unfit
(and
unmotivated)
and
needed
a
reset.
We
both
came
with
some
fitness
but
not
much.
B
was
a
lot
fitter
than
S.
We
are
in
our
60s
and
knowing
that
we
had
to
do
something
now
to
regain
some
fitness
and
wanted
to
be
serious
about
this.
We
decided
to
enrol
in
the
transformation
package
-
accommodation,
all
meals
except
Sundays
(cheat
day)
and
an
exercise
plan
that
was
negotiable
depending
on
circumstances.
So,
what
did
we
do
right?
The
time
of
year
was
perfect.
The
length
of
time
was
perfect
(except
would
have
liked
to
have
stayed
longer).
The
combination
of
exercises
were
perfect.
Food
was
great
and
extremely
healthy
-
but
huge!
So,
were
never
hungry.
What
would
we
change
-
starting
point
-
should
be
a
lot
fitter.
We
needed
two
weeks
(especially
S)
to
get
a
reasonable
amount
of
fitness
to
be
able
to
cope.
Day
2
we
were
wondering
how
we
were
going
to
last
the
distance.
However,
we
did
get
into
a
rhythm,
even
if
it
did
mean
that
we
were
the
worst
tourists
ever.
We
stayed
1.3
km
from
the
gym
(beautiful
resort
on
the
beach
and
highly
recommend
for
the
location
and
closeness
to
facilities).
We
walked
to
the
gym
1-3
times
a
day.
We
walked
home
between
sessions
when
they
weren’t
back-to-back
-
for
food,
rest,
or
a
beach
swim.
What
did
we
do
-
combination
of
many
sessions
-
loved
them
all
(although
not
very
good
at
some).
Mauy
Thai,
swimming,
crossfit,
endurance,
yoga,
beach
workout,
hiking,
gym
PT,
calisthenics,
breathwork,
ice
baths,
paddleboarding,
body
scans
and
massages!
It
was
amazing.
The
instructors
were
knowledgeable,
patient,
super
friendly
and
young.
We
learnt
so
much
and
were
very
sad
to
leave.
We
worked
out
that
over
the
four
week
period,
we
attended
81
sessions,
3
body
scans
and
4
official
massages.
These
ranged
in
start
time
from
5.00
am
(not
very
often)
to
finishing
at
9.00
pm
(twice
per
week).
Biggest
challenge
-
keeping
going
once
home
and
back
to
our
lifestyle,
fitting
in
exercise
and
work.
Would
we
do
it
again
-
absolutely
-
totally
loved
it!
Would
we
go
for
shorter/longer
-
longer!
Were
we
too
old?
No
-
and
they
didn’t
even
go
light
on
us
because
we
were
significantly
older
and
less
fit
than
most
people
there,
which
was
great.
Recommendations
• Know
what
you
want
to
achieve
before
going.
• Get
some
fitness
behind
you
before
getting
there.
• Listen
to
suggestions.
There
were
things
we
didn't
want
to
do
but
decided
to
try
them
(e.g.,
ice
baths
-
very
challenging,
but
totally
worth
it
-
invigorating,
refreshing).
• Make
sure
you
take
a
plate
and
cutlery
with
you
if
you
are
on
a
meal
plan.
• Check
Visa
restrictions
• Ensure
you
have
fun!
