The Deutsches Eck with the huge monument is now a popular meeting place, tourist magnet and landmark. When you stand in front of it you are very impressed by its size. The German Corner was created for the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument, an artificially raised headland at the mouth of the Moselle and the Rhine. The equestrian statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I was inaugurated on August 31, 1897 in the presence of his son Kaiser Wilhelm II. The monument, which the Rhine Province had commissioned for the monarch's 100th birthday, was intended to commemorate the founding of the German Empire in 1871. As a thank you to the prince for the unification of Germany fought for in three wars (1864, 1866, 1871). Shortly before the end of the Second World War, the statue was destroyed, and from 1953 to 1990 its base served as a “Memorial to German Unity”. Since its purpose was fulfilled after reunification, a replica of the original sculpture group was placed back on the base in 1993. The monument is 37 meters high, with 14 meters being the equestrian statue, and the weight of the bronze statue is 63.5 tons. It is based on the plans of the architect Bruno Schmitz.

Is one of the German hotspots, such as Heligoland, the Großglockner, the Brandenburg Gate, the Battle of the Nations Monument, the Niederwald Monument with the Germania, Hermann the Cherusci, Neuschwanstein Castle, the Cologne and Magdeburg Cathedrals, the Frauenkirche in Dresden, which a German visits must have!!! 🇩🇪

Good day This attraction should also be on the list if you want to explore Koblenz. From the top of the monument you have a beautiful view of the Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. The Eherenbreitstein Fortress is also easy to see. Best regards

With fantastic weather, the monument alone was impressive; the Rhine and the Moselle flow together. It wasn't too crowded with tourists, so it was very pleasant. 🌞

I was amazed how many people had no idea why it was there, and to find out that most of the people were Germans, do they not teach history in school anymore. 5 sets of people I helped take their photos of their families, and I asked if they knew how the man on the horse was and why he was there, not a one know. So sad

We were in the beer garden at the monument. You couldn't go to the forecourt because of a concert. From the Neuendorf campsite you have a great view of the fortress, the Kaiser Wilhelm monument and the Deutsches Eck.

Top event location and historical place worth seeing in one. Whether for events or just to look around, the German corner with its Kaiser Wilhelm monument is always worth a visit👍🏻 From there you can enjoy not only the Moselle and Rhine but also a great view of the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress on the opposite bank of the Rhine. There is a beer garden on site and the cable car to Ehrenbreitstein is also nearby.

Koblenz deutsches Eck is well worth seeing, unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate - it was rainy when I visited - otherwise it was another experience that I would like to repeat

The Kaiser Wilhelm monument is very beautiful and large. Unfortunately the day was very cold and windy so it was better to visit when the weather was nice. We still had a wonderful day. It's worth taking a quick look when you visit Koblenz☺️

A stunning stop for a rather large statue. Not sure if I've been to a statue you can walk around in!

An impressive monument celebrating German Unity. Its very imposing with multiple steps leading up to one the German Kaisers....most likely Bismarck. It portents to be a very popular area for crowds to mill around.

Lovely commanding celebration of the unification of Germany in the 19th Century, combined with a modernisation celebrating German reunification in the late 20th Century. Loved the very teutonic carved faces on the pillars!

Large statue that over looks the river merger. You can walk up to the base and get a really good look of over the river.
