So nice to see they've maintained an excellent quality of food and hygiene even after decades of operation. It seems like the operations has been passed down to the next generation without compromise. Every bite taste so complete and delightful. We enjoyed the small talk, friendly hospitality and how they bother to check on you as you dine. In many regards, Jothy's has purposefully made a lot of attention to detail with banana leaves cut to the shape of their serving plates and bowl shaped rice servings. They hallmark a refined approach on banana leaf rice.

Undisputed champion of banana leaf in Kota Kinabalu. Best service, food quality and hygiene. They've gained extra popularity recently, so expect limited seats and longer wait times for dinner service. The roti section seems to be discontinued for a while already.

Authentic banana leaf experience, complete with veggie refills and ethnic music. Spacious air-conditioned store just down from McDonald's. Food is tasty and the right amount of spicy. The vegetables and dishes were fresh and flavoursome, and everything comes on a banana leaf. The wait staff seem a bit weary, but service is reasonable. Fair variety of curries and dishes, with a range of seafood items like squid and crab. Pricing is a little above average, at around RM20 per non-seafood dish.

As an Indian from Penang, this is one of the best Indian restaurants in kota Kinabalu, their dishes were so good. Especially their chicken curry, damn nice n spicy n good! Their chicken65 was delicious. After staying in Kundasang for 3 days, I finally got to give my tongue a solid pleasure !

Most Delicious is Mutton Briyani & mango lassi is my favourite, many flavours and spices in the curry sauce, and very well cooked meat being juicy, and tender yum! All the food here is great to try and have, especially the banana leaf with the condiments like the Brinjal, & fried Pavakkai and squid. The chicken masala is great. Also try the awesome roti Canai & naan cheese and garlic. The atmosphere is a home feel, and the sitting is comfortable, quality very consistent and great service. Thanks guys. I tried the banana leaf rice at this place and had a mixed experience. The vegetable side dish included well-cooked eggplant, which was delicious. However, the sayur manis turned out to be overly salty, which was disappointing. Moving on to the roti, it was just average, nothing to write home about. It lacked that extra fluffiness or crispiness that I usually look for in a good roti. On a positive note, the fish curry was a standout. The fish itself was fresh and tender, and the curry had a creamy texture with a nice blend of spices. It wasn't too spicy, which could be a plus for those who prefer milder flavors. Overall, while there were some hits and misses, the fish curry was the highlight of my meal. If you're in the mood for a tasty fish curry, it might be worth a visit.

As name said all dishes are served in banana leaf. Indian varieties of food at normal prices are available here and taste also good, mainly dishes are not sweet. I had lunch - chicken Briyani, banana leaf set , sardine varuval, prawn varuval, fish fry, masala tea & coffee are not hot n more sugar added otherwise all food varieties looks good πŸ‘ almost 40+ mins we waited after ordering that is only minus I feel...

Yummy banana leaf rice!! We ordered the ikan tenggiri, fried baji and mutton veruval and it did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and the skin was crispy, the fried baji was crunchy and the mutton veruval was so tender. Definitely recommended.

We love it. We are so desperate for flavourful food and with real spices taste, and came across this restaurant on Google Maps. Nearby waterfront, just look for McD at the Api Api Center, it’s on the same stretch. The restaurant is super clean and air-conditioned. Service is fast. Taste also sedap. We ordered the rice set with M-sized peria goreng and chicken varuval. The rice set is complete with rassam, papadam, acar and dried chilli. This restaurant is a saviour for us.

After 5 days in Sabah, I finally had really good food here. Old school no frills atmosphere. The Fried tenggiri fish and sambal sotong were exceptionally good. The pricing was very reasonable. Staff speak good English as a mode of communication. Anyone that wants good Indian food in Kora Kinabalu should visit this gem of a place.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent staff. That’s all you really need to know. I’ve eaten at Indian restaurants across the U.S. and India and this is easily one of my favorites. We found ourselves eating at Jothy’s twice during our 5 day stay in KK. Both experiences superb! At the end of our second meal, the gracious owner even gave us a Roti Tissue on the house, just unbelievable! Food is made with extremely fresh ingredients ,well spiced, and made to order. Nothing stale, luke-warm, or bland. And if you do have an issue, just let the staff know because the service is impeccable. During our two visits we went through probably a third of the menu. Personal favorites include garlic&onion roti, fried squid, mutton varuval, chicken 65, sliced fish curry. Don’t forget to order a Teh Halia or Masala Tea on the side, both were excellent. I highly recommend pairingThe dishes with the many rotis and/or poori. Rotis were flaky, buttery, and cooked to perfection. Beautiful layers and elasticity that soak up curry like an sponge. Close your meal with Roti Tissue, a β€œdessert roti”, a crispy/sweet showstopper that is sure to impress. I confess that we didn’t try any of the rice, but the rotis were just that damn good.

If you’re a vegetarian definitely eat here! It’s slightly harder to find good vegetarian friendly places to eat here in Saba but this restaurant has a whole page & TOFU! I ordered the chilli tofu & roti canai - they did not disappoint! The food came out quickly & hot, it was delicious. I came here as a solo female traveler & did not feel out of place. The staff were lovely and attentive. 100% recommend.

Food was great. Curry was a bit spicy to my liking but still nice! Roti canai soooo sedap even without the curry. Love how the staffs served us. Feels like home. Definitely will return to this restaurant for banana leaf rice. Thank you⭐️

Very nice curry house. The food we had was great, very flavourful chicken masala, the veggie banana leaf was great too. Reasonable price and good quality. The only shame is that their bread chef is currently unavailable so they have no roti or naan. We came here twice and enjoyed both times!

Had a delicious Indian Food at affordable for quality and quantity of satisfied platter. Situation near KK times square and near food market.. Suitable place for lunch with banana leaf meals with vegetables and Chicken biryani.. both are so good and fulfilled . Normal time they served so quicker than crowd time it would take late service .Over all good meal time at this place. Definitely worth for Money .end of the meal had a India special delicious bru coffee and masala tea so nice and Aroma of flavours. Had yesterday Lunch and Today dinner with fulfill. Try here at once you visit kk those who stays near KK time square. The taste is good. But they dont allow the top up of vegetable dishes, which is common practise for other indian restaurants such as Krishna, Claypot, Srilatha. The worst part is, the server wanted to top up for our table, was told off loudly by the lady boss. Very ugly and rude scene

I have been having my lunch and dinner at Jothy's for the past 20 years. Never would I recommend any other place for top-class Indian food. The best in town and the taste of their curry chicken has not changed a bit. Very reliable. A food experience worth remembering and Raj & family hospitality guarantees that experience.
