Lime stone cave which you can see from outside. People's are not allowed to go inside. Boats usually costs heavily but in my opinion it's a waste of time and money for visiting a single place.over crowded too because every boat will stop here for snorkelling. Though the water is torquise blue and it's a feast of eye for snorkelling

Phi Phi Leh is a shelter to the "Viking Cave", which is residence of the white-nest swiftlet 🐤(indigenous bird). These birds create their nest from their saliva and are harvested for human consumption. The cave is surrounded by deep blue seawater. Tourists are not allowed to go inside. only view is available from the boat. Even though they don’t allow to snorkel in front of this cave but they can enjoy snorkeling at a distance. Overall exciting experience!

This is the real deal. People here give three overworked / old elephants a nice place to retire. Every other place would just expose the elephants to more people to increase the profits. Not the Krabi elephant sanctuary. Limited number of visitors (maximum 20 at a time). Great English guide. Gentle caretakers. Amazing and super friendly animals. Great interaction. You are actually helping - really HELPING - the sanctuary to prepare food and feed / clean the elephants. It was an absolutely amazing day. And I am absolutely convinced that the money is very well spent here.

An amazing experience. The 3 female elephants are docile and super relaxed, you get the opportunity to learn about them, feed them, prepare their protein food, walk with them, get muddy aaaand finally take a bath with them and wash them! You can tell they are well looked after and that everyone here loves these animals and does not exploit their existence. Our group was only 6 people so everyone has plenty of time with each animal, but they don't have sessions with more than 20 people which is very sensible. The facilities are also quite recent so you get clean toilets, showers, lockers to put your valuables, and they also serve you some fresh fruit and beverages. Staff is very friendly and helpful and ready to answer any questions. Can't recommend enough. Thank you for everything!

See the photo below? That’s the view you’ll be hiking for. Getting to the view point is rather easy. And it takes only around 20 minutes one way. I actually saw many parents going up with children and even few with infants. So, if you were thinking if its doable by kids? Yes, it is. But you should be prepared that your clothes can get dirty. As you may sit down in some places, while climbing over huge rocks.

The view is just superb! You need to take the trail to reach the top bit it is so worth it. Beautiful rocks formation and trees along the trail, after the effort you can of course enjoy your prize: an amazing view of Railay beach and its iconic rocks!

Awesome view point of Railay beach area. Short 20 minute hike requires some climbing up a steep section so not for everyone. The view is worth it though. I recommend wearing tennis shoes or strapped sandals. Folks wearing flip-flops were struggling. I would do it again and recommend it if you have the appropriate fitness level during your visit to Railay beach.

Phi Phi Leh is home to the "Viking Cave", which is home to white-nest swiftlet 🐤(indigenous bird). Viking Cave in Ko Phi Phi is a breathtaking natural wonder. Its towering limestone cliffs and mysterious cave art make it a must-visit. The boat tour is exhilarating, and the cave's history is fascinating. Don't miss this unique experience when in Thailand!

So far it's been the highlight of our Thai holiday. Feeding, playing with and bathing the 3 rescued from tourist industry elephants was most probably the most calming experience in my life. While your half a day visit you'll help to feed, walk and bathe the elephants. You can choose either morning or afternoon visit. Personally I recommend morning visit as it's still not too hot. That is of course if you don't mind an early pick up. Time will depend onin which hotel you are. The van will pick you up from the hotel around 7am and drive you to the sanctuary. Here, first of all you'll be told about the elephants history, how they are being looked after in the sanctuary. You'll also be told about the safety while interacting with those beautiful giants. Later on you'll be feeding, walking and bathing them. You'll get plenty time for interaction as well as taking some amazing photos. Elephants look happy, well looked after and healthy. I'd definitely recommend that breathtaking experience and truly great cause.

So cool to see these elephants and interact with them. They are living their best life :) You feed them, walk with them, and bathe them. Love that this place rescued them from poor conditions at an elephant riding place and are now taking good care of them.

Climbed there after rain. I reached to the top in 15 minutes but it was really scary as the rocks were all sticky and red mud everywhere. Going down was even harder. The view was awesome. Your physical condition should be really good to go up there and you should have good shoes. The view is great, totally worth my effort.

Don’t really understand why it’s called this 😅 but nice cave and I think they found a boat or something in here at some point. Now they use the cave for picking bird nests. So it’s not allowed to go in for tourist I think.

It is home to thousands of swift bird nests, which build nests using their saliva. Locals go here to harvest these nests as the saliva of these birds are an excellent source of protein and it is a thriving industry. It is sold at a premium price and is listed as one of the most expensive animal product foods to be consumed by man. These nests cost around $3,000 - $5,000 per kilo! The entrance to this cave is very small and there are few tours which take you inside the cave.

Viking Cave is a captivating wonder of nature. Nestled on Phi Phi Leh Island, this cave's intricate limestone formations are nothing short of mesmerizing. The cave's historical significance, with ancient drawings adorning its walls, adds an intriguing layer to the adventure. A peaceful place for elephants. If you want to help the animal cause and fight against elephant abuse in Thailand, this is the best place to. Here elephants are treated with care and respect. I highly recommend this place which will transport you to the world of elephants. I went there with my friends and we loved it. We had prepared their food to feed them afterwards and we also went to clean them. A real escapade for a moment. Thanks to the team and the elephants for this unforgettable moment.

Such a fabulous day at an ethical Elephant sanctuary. Fed the elephants, then had a mud bath with them. Great to see the elephants personalities. Also wonderful to hear the history of each elephant and be reassured that their remaining life will be of leisure and not of the hard work they used to endure. Lunch provided in half day package was also amazing. Enjoyed it so much, we visited 3 days.

I absolutely loved my experience here! Three beautiful female elephants that were rescued from trekking reside here and are cared for. It felt very ethical. You get to feed, walk with, and bathe the elephants. I loved that it all seemed to be on the elephant’s time. If they wanted to wander around longer, they could. If they wanted to be done bathing, they were. I would never do elephant trekking after learning of how overworked and poorly treated elephants can be.

Highly recommend! This was an incredible experience with my family. We spent the entire day learning about these elephants, feeding, bathing and walking with them. The staff were all super friendly and educated!

(Translated by Google) Very nice half day, spent doing the work of caretakers: we feed the elephants, accompany them to go in the mud then finally we bathe with them and we wash them Two teens with us, who loved it! Despite everything, I wondered if the elephants were happy in this "sanctuary" because they have to do the same route twice a day .... They are therefore not free, but given that they were captive before arriving at the sanctuary and trained for shows or rides on the backs of elephants, they still won. Ils ne sont donc pas libres, mais étant donné qu ils étaient captifs avant d arriver au sanctuaire et dressés pour des shows ou balades a dos d éléphants, ils ont quand même gagné au change.

I highly recommend a trip here sooooo much! A place where abused elephants come and are highly cared for.. The elephants do what what they want, when they want. No riding - just ridiculous amounts of love and care. The owners compassion is astounding. They need all the support and monies that they can bc get, as to save the elephants from abuse costs this place a lot of money. If you go riding elephants in Thailand, I’m afraid you need putting down with a dart yourself.

Our tour guide explained that the viking cave was once open for tourist access - to witness bird nest harvest, enjoy bird nest delicacy. However, such access has caused unwanted distraction to the nature habitat, pollution and damage. It's now closed but there are still local living in the cave. It's very beautiful and we're allowed to park our speedboat and snorkel from a distance. It's a beautiful place. The snorkeling experience is great, rich marine life and beautiful live corals.

Superb views over Railay. Not a very easy climb even in the dry season but the views completely justified the effort

  • 5/5 Diana G. 5 years ago on Google
The view is amazing on the top, but the climb is not so easy. You should wear tennis shoes or similar since some parts tend to be slippery. Bringing water is also a very good idea. Your clothes will probably end up read because of the red soil and rocks coming up. But everything is worth it for the view.

Definitely worth a visit! In addition to the beautiful scenery and the beach, you can exercise extremely! if you want, of course! When you get here, do a favor for yourself - take comfortable clothes and shoes! What if you want to see the lagoon? 😉 It's free! The only drawback of this place is a very tourist one, therefore the prices are inadequate for food and drinks in local restaurants! They sell 1 mango for 100 baht 🥴. "Thank you" to rich tourists, who spoil their money

  • 5/5 Matthew R. 5 years ago on Google
A fun little climb while you are on Railay. I do have to caution that while short, the climb is intense and potentially dangerous if you slip.or fall. There are ropes to help you climb. I recommend wearing sneakers. It's heavily trafficked but it's a very beautiful view of the Railay peninsula at the top. Overall expect to spend 30-45 minutes there including climbing up and down.

  • 5/5 Ben S. 4 years ago on Google
100% worth it! 20 minutes or so, signs are clearly marked. Going down a bit tougher than going up but I would say most people could do this hike. Lagoon is a completely separate deal but would highly recommend checking this out!

Cool cave looked interesting. You’re not allowed in though. Snorkelling areas around the cave were very choppy waters and hundreds of jellyfish so be aware before you get in.

Rating for snorkeling: If you are doing one of these day trips short or long to Phi Phi Island and the neighboring Island and you are there for snorkeling, have in mind that u will see no fish, yes they tell you there are 3 snorkeling stops and so, but beware there is no snorkeling in these Islands, apparently all the corals are half dead and there is barely any fish to see. So dont have high expectations so you are not disappointed

Very nice cave. It is a pitty that it is not possible to enter. If you wear a mask you can swim in the middle of hundreds of fish (the distance between you and fish is about 30 centimeters). I saw almost 40 type of fish.

Viking Cave is the home to thousands of indigenous white-nest swiftlet bird. This is closed for tourism now and we can only view it from afar. Excellent view of the cave from the boat though we couldn't go inside to view its beauty. Locals go here to harvest these nests as the saliva of these birds are an excellent source of protein. This place is also a scuba diving haven which can be booked through local tour agencies. It has an amazing coral reefs to snorkel too.

Was not able to enter these caves as it was closed for tourists. But we did see from a distant. There are thousands of bird nests inside and locals do go their to haverst them (some form of delicacy!).

This cave is closed for tourists, so we can see from outside only. Their is also history that from some insects saliva they create and it’s been sold for use, so they are doing business here that’s why the cave is closed for tourists.

Viking Cave is one of natural sites on Koh Phi Phi Leh. Located at the bottom of a tall cliff on the northeastern side of the island, it takes 30 minutes to get there by long-tail boat from Tonsai Bay ( main pier of Phi Phi Island). Viking Cave owes its name to the paintings found on the walls of the cave – they represent various types of boats, including what resembles a Scandinavian Drakkar (Viking ship). These paintings were made by sailors taking shelter in the cave during a storm. Now it’s closed to tourists 🙁 Visited December 2022

If you like caves you may love this place. Take time to enjoy it other wise you will see it as just a place from boat. It will be better if you can go inside.

  • 5/5 Prashant C. 9 months ago on Google
Nice little bay to snorkel and have a casual swim. Lots of boats will be harboring here, lots of people snorkeling, water is cool, and the corals are mesmerising. The rock formation is nice to look at. Just pray that it drizzles a bit when you are there, trust that makes the experience so much better. Overall ❤️

A nice looking cave. Not much to see as the entry is restricted. We just took a glance at this cave from the Boat. It's included in the Phi Phi Island Trip
