This huge arcaded courtyard is a pearl of Renaissance architecture, and one of the first palatial Renaissance structures built anywhere north of Italy. Make sure to pay attention to the third, top tier, of the building. It features frescoes by Hans Durer, the brother of the famous Albrecht Durer. The throne chamber is curiously located on the third level. Only two other monarchs had their throne rooms on the third level of their palaces, the dodge of Venice and the pope in Rome.

Bardzo ładne miejsce, schodki idealne do przycupniecia i odpoczynku po spacerze. Pomiędzy murami rozciągają się trzy promienie. Zwykle jest tu sporo ludzi, wieczorem się trochę przerzedza. Jest tu kilka sklepików z pamiątkami.

A na środku dziedzińca wmurowany jest medalion AXIS MVNDI CRACOVIENSIS - krakowskiej osi świata - z prawdziwym diamentem w środku. To pamiątka Światowego Dnia Geodety 21 marca 2023, hołd dla wkładu geodetów w badania Wawelu i wotum Stowarzyszenia Geodetów Polskich dla Zamku Królewskiego na Wawelu. Jest to znak geodezyjnego punktu pomiarowego wysokiej dokładności.

Miejsce robi wrażenie. Wspaniała architektura. Człowiek czuje się tam malutki i z uniesioną głową podziwia całość dookoła siebie. Gratka dla fotografów. Dziedziniec kojarzy się z obcą architekturą. Ma się wrażenie jakby się było za granicą lub w scenerii filmowej.

The central place of the Royal Castle

The courtyard overlooked by the royal state rooms is already fascinating at first glance. Majestic but at the same time the high and elegant loggias give it a sense of lightness. Light colors dominate both in the floor and on the structure. Visiting the courtyard is free, you only pay to visit the interior.

Great place to visit and learn more about Polish History

The central place of the Wawel Royal Castle, from where you can start visiting other places, for example the royal chambers or the armory. For me personally, the Renaissance courtyard with cloisters typical of this period is the essence of the Wawel Castle. I really like coming here, which I also recommend to others :) Admission to the courtyard is free, and you can get to it through the gate on the right side of the Wawel Cathedral.

Later u can go around it's very nice and beautiful building around . Ps: church close at 4pm . If you go with baby ,not suggest coz it's not easy go up .

Dziedziniec arkadowy pałacu wawelskiego, jednego z najważniejszych zabytków architektury renesansowej w naszej części Europy, stanowi chyba najbardziej charakterystyczną jego część. Byłem i widziałem :) Zawsze szczerze i tym razem mogę powiedzieć ze pierwsze wrażenie jest na prawdę duże. Byłem w rezydencjach , jednak jak dla mnie lepszy widok i uczucie daje bycie na dziedzińcu. Bardzo dziwne ze w tym miejscu w momencie gdy tam byłem było bardzo mało osob. Cała reszta chyba poszła na katedrę :)
