a very beautiful museum - dedicated to history of the oldest Polish university. All fans of Harry Potter will love it as it feels like Hogwarts a bit ;) I would recommend booking a guided tour, as not all artefacts are labelled. Tours are offered every half an hour until 1pm, and from 1.30pm it's only self guided. Try to be there on the top of an odd hour (9am-5pm) to see their beautiful clock (on the wall facing north) playing the University hymn Gaudeamus Igitur, with clockwork figures of the school officials on display. Inside you can see amazing old furniture and household items, souvenirs and valuable objects (like the Polish director Andrzej Wajda numerous awards, including the Academy Award and Golden Palm from Cannes). There are also the university founding documents, astronomical instruments and old globes). A true gem for every history buff, and especially those interested in Polish history. depending how interested you are in the collection, you can spend there 30-45 minutes. the guided tours take 30 minutes. the museum is no accessible. washroom available (you will need the code printed on your ticket). a lovely cafe located in the same building - they advertise pies and coffee mostly, but they also sell local craft beer.

The first, the oldest, and the most acclaimed university in Poland. This particular set of buildings dates back to the 1300's and is where the original medieval college was first permanently set up. It is very well worth visiting. The tour is highly recommended. It takes about a half hour and leaves every 30 minutes. The guides speak English and explain the history as well as the function of the buildings etc. all at a very reasonable price of about $5 US, depending on the exchange rate. There is a gift shop downstairs next to the entrance

We visited on a Wednesday so it was free this day. The museum is quite small but it was interesting and very nice to visit. I was expecting that you can wander around the college like you in most famous college around the world but you can’t. There is just a small little courtyard and a museum.

The old building of the oldest Polish University. It is really nice, the internal court is very picturesque and authentic even under the rain. It is accessible with a guided tour of 45-60min, and the guide is the graduates from this university. The excursion is really interesting, well equilibrated between historical facts, curious facts and visiting. The interiors are nice, the wooden works are outstanding. And I liked a lot of the old globes. Also in the shop you can buy the university goodies and clothes that make difference with usual Chinese stuff

The Museum of Jagiellonian University sits in a historic building which itself an exhibit. The building is as old as of 14th century. It was the first seat of the Jagiellonian University when it had started its operation as an academy. Later, when the main campus shifted nearby it became university library and eventually university museum - collegium mius. There is an interesting musical clock which is visible from the courtyard and that plays an academic theme song five times a day after every two hours. The museum is fabulous. It has very rich collection. I have seen some prized medal of Nobel, Oscar and Grammy, belonged to the distinguished university alumni. In addition, it has scripts of Copernicus, autograph of Neil Armstrong.

University founded in 1364. Go inside courtyard and it is nice to sit. No many students as the they opened a new big campus and many moved there.

Went for a guided tour in English. Gorgeous building and rooms with a lot of history. The tour was good and informative but we were rushed through the rooms on the tour a little bit. Would have been nicer if we could have looked around the room and looked at the artifacts closer on the tour.

We really struggled with this place. Do pay very close attention to the uncommom opening and tour times. If you go - definitely go with a tour. We went without one and it was rather boring. Almost no real Kopernikus artefacts and also only a few rooms to walk through. By reading all the little plaques we stretched it to 30 mins.

If you are in Krakow, try and have a guided tour of the historical rooms and halls of the Jagellonic university. The guided are extremely well prepared and cover a good number of languages. The climax of the tour is obviously the Copernicus room with the astronomical instruments. Once back in the courtyard, seize the chance to take a look at the carillon.

This historic university building is well worth an afternoon. While the tour was short, and ultimately only goes through a handful of rooms, it was very informative, and helps you to grasp the significance of this place. The ornate art and architecture, inside and out, as well as the collection of artifacts and precious objects is astounding for a university. Nicholas Copernicus' time at the university is explained, as is the interesting way of life of the early university professors. The tours are limited in size, and are only available certain times of the day in English. They also only take cash as payment. While the tourbooks all recommend coming on the uneven hours to see the mechanical clock, this particular element seems overrated (though entertaining), especially considering that it is not original and has been rebuilt several times.

I could not visit the museum since I could not pay with my card (MasterCard) The payment machines here ask if you want to pay in your currency, then I never remember whn I should enter a PIN. Everything is in Polish and it's a pity the cashier cannot sell tickets because they do not know how their machine works. So pay by cash if you go there Edit: My card was actually charged. So I paid a ticket and could not visit the museum WHAT A SCAM!!!!

A very interesting museum, definitely worth to visit. The also provide free admission on Wednesdays from 13.30 till 16.30. Removed a couple of stars just because the restrooms look very dirty.

An interesting collection and a very knowledgeable staff. The catalogueurs must be very good! I especially liked the astrolabes, the globes, and the hundreds of years old piece of royal chocolate.

I paid for the tickets with a time slot but when I arrived it was closed with no museum employees in sight. There are no free toilet facilities and the single cubicle available is disgusting.

This has been a really good experience. We had a great guide who really spent the time to explain the place’s history with passion. The location itself is very exciting. One of the oldest Universities in Europe. Must see when visiting Cracow.

Visited Aug 2022. Not a massive museum, by any stretch, but worth a visit to get a peek into the history of one of the oldest European universities. A selection of interesting exhibits and access to some of the building’s glorious rooms. Free entry on Wednesdays. Much more informative if you can get yourself into a guided tour.

Great and very interesting museum, it was exciting to get known about some pieces of live of such old university and about famous people who worked there. Gorgeous inner yard, collection of old devices - sundials, astrolabes etc. Price of 15 PLN is quite democratic for such place.

Didn't take the guided tour, we just looked at the courtyard and watched the animated chiming clock perform. A quieter part of Krakow with fewer tourists but still fairly busy. Worth a look and also a quiet stroll around the university buildings.

Part of the guided tours in Krakow as it's a large part of Poland's history. If I remember correctly, most of Poland's/Krakow's universities were once institutions of this university. Interesting fact we found out passing a nearby house. If a black flag is adorned from a nearby house it means one of the professor's/senior staff had recently died. You can do a tour on your own as the guided tour will take you to other destinations. Also a prime spot for a photo.

Small museum with very interesting exhibits and rooms. There is a room dedicated to Copernicus who studied at this university. You can also several awards belonging to former students such as a Nobel Prize, Oscar or Olympic medal. The museum closes some days due to events and is better to check the website ahead of the visit as they change often the opening time. Every 2 hours there is a nice musical clock on top of the main entrance of the library. When I was there it was at 9-11-13-15-17. Entry is 12zl and if you need to use the toilet mention it when buying the ticket as they will give you a token for a very close toilet. Otherwise there is one in the basement/cellar where the coffee shop that costs 3zl.
