Came with high expectations but unfortunately I think I’ve had better omakase experience else where. The food is good but I think the overall experience was just meh. The chef didn’t interact with us much and despite having counter seats, we didn’t get to watch the chef prepare our food as he was situated in the middle of the room. Other than my delicious toro and uni, there was nothing much to rave about. Service is decently good, as expected (well we are paying a hefty sum for it). Honestly don’t think I’ll return as I’d be able to get this elsewhere at a better price.

My first and last visit was 5 years ago. This will be my first visit to TAKA after Sushi Saito took back his name and chefs. TAKA’s current head chef, Yazawa Daichi-san used to work at Hakkoku at Ginza. Actually I met him once there but we do not know each other then. This meal here at TAKA got postponed since May 2021 because of lockdown. Was so so glad that we finally made it and it surely did not disappoint. Staffs were very friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the flavour and texture of the shari. It might taste very vinegary to some but I loved it, especially when paired with tuna. I ordered Tsuki course as the rest of the course was not very cheap and I do not want to splurge on my first visit under the new chef. But I do feel that it’s really worth the price tag as all the neta that he served us were really good when I compared to the few sushiyas that I visited frequently. The size, the shape, the taste.. It’s closest to the Japanese taste that I’m used to, and since we are still unable to fly to Japan, this will definitely satisfy my craving for edomae sushi for now. TAKA is really a place for edomae sushi aficionado, I can guarantee this. I can’t wait to revisit them again the next month. And I will try another course on the menu that chef said yes to tweaking it a little for me. Chef is not a person of many words but I do feel if you have any question regarding the food, the origin of the seafood, he would explain them to you.

Exceptional ambience in a private room with very attentive service. The restaurant has 2 main dining areas - the sushi counter and the grill. Excellent ingredients. Highlight was the first dish serving minced tuna neck with seaweed and the grilled Hokkaido scallop. It was a wet day, so the room was slightly chilly and temperature could not be set higher due to the central air-conditioning.

Taka is currently helmed by Sushi Chef Yazawa Daichi formerly of Hakkoku in Ginza, Tokyo. Luring someone of Yazawa San's calibre is indeed quite a feat by the owners of Taka and it shows. Taka is currently serving up some of the freshest and best quality ingredients in town. I had the Taka Omakase which consists of an orchestra of 7 appetisers, 1 grilled fish, 10 sushi & 1 sushi roll. The gastronomical journey consists some of the freshest and top-grade sea urchin, fatty tuna and of course being the winter season, some top flight shirako. If you are in the mood to complement your meal with some Ozaki beef, you can order from Ushi's menu, which is just next door to Taka. Look out for the last dish on the menu, which is Chef Yazawa San's unique take of the tamago. As opposed to the mainstream spongy cake-like omelette we are used to, his version tastes a custard-like cake with a crème brûlée top. Less heavier menus are available such as the (normal) Omakase course which consists of 4 appetisers, 1 grilled fish, 10 sushi & 1 sushi roll or Hana which consist of 4 appetisers, 8 sushi & 1 sushi roll. Tsuki, which consists of 8 sushi & 1 sushi roll is available for lunch only. Taka has a decent sake menu offering some of the finest sakes to pair with your meal. Quantities of these fine sakes are limited so it is recommended that you call ahead to ask for the sake menu and reserve a couple of bottles of your favourite sakes to pair with your meal. Albeit the premium pricing, the quality of premium ingredients served by Taka is arguably the finest in town. Service levels at Taka are of course as always, top notch.

Firstly, the price per person for the sushi counter omakase works out to approx RM1,500. Don't get me wrong. The food is quite excellent, but for that price point, there are other (very few but they exist) sushi specialists and Japanese restaurants that offer equivalent omakase of this sort for half the price. Secondly, if you're going for a one-off experience to impress clients or a date, then this will definitely do it - the ambiance is private, exclusive and service is attentive to a T. So all in all, the food is great but not so special that it's worth what you have to pay for it. Perhaps it's the St Regis and Saito brand that you're really paying for here?

My first Omakase experience was here! Amazing food with the best ambience. The head sushi chef was really witty and friendly. For me, the rice was absolutely amazing 💯 If you are ready to splurge and try Omakase for the first time, try here !

Delicious, and high quality. But …. Minor complaint that there was a large fish scale in my Otoro sushi, it’s kinda fine but did take away from what’s an amazing ‘bite’ of food. These things happen, but the chef didn’t seem to care, just shrugged, and dismissed it. Would have been nice to remake it. Also, the chef wasn’t around as we left, as is normally the case as we thank the chef when leaving a Japanese restaurant. He just vanished, no goodbyes or thank you. Seemed a little strange, and not in keeping with our experience in Japan and at other high end Sushi restaurants. A little like he didn’t quite appreciate us eating in his restaurant. Overall, nice food but I feel a bit down about the experience. Disappointing when this place is aiming high with prices and service. I would not recommend. Somethings off with the mood here.

Ambience was good, staff service excellent. But beyond that, quite disappointing. Chef seemed quite rushed in his food prep and delivery. For the price point I paid, food was really just okay, nothing mind blowing. I am no Japanese culture expert, but I always had this impression that the Japanese treated food with maximum love and respect. In this instance, I did see the chef throwing food back into the container without grace. Perhaps I'm just being very picky, but hey I did pay over 300 bucks so...

This is perhaps the closest you can get to eating almost the very best fish (sushi) outside of Japan. You do however pay Japanese / international prices, in Malaysia which seems outrageous but you are paying for produce from the same markets / fisherman as that in the original location. Not so fussed about Tekuni. This is all about Taka by Saito. @foodbymark

Japanese fine dining at its best. Food was great. Had the Tempura courses. It was delicious. Quality goods with thin batter. Fragrant and light. Appetizer was seasonal excellent. Service was top notch. Pricy though.

Don’t waste your time. Don’t expect anything high quality here. Rush job. Seaweed kept in ziploc bag, browning yuzu and Sinewy otoro. Sushi rice falls apart as soon as you touch them. One of the worse Omakase I’ve ever had not worth a single cent.

Beautiful environment for omakase. Need more surprises on the dishes. Overall good food and good environment. Thank you Chef Daichi and team for the good presentation and nice food. Yet I am still looking for a omakase that can surprise. Keep up the good work Taka and team.

(Translated by Google) It seems that there is no Japanese word of mouth I write about going to sushi shops all over Japan. Is it because I went with super expectation? Overseas or from? It's quite normal. Sake is only beer and sake. There is no shochu. No highball, no wine, no champagne. Is it all right with sushi and sake alone? Japanese have one hand for over 10 staff members. Of course I can not understand Japanese except for the clasped hands. Oh, is that right? Train your English skills. However, the most famous sushi restaurant in Japan. I would like to have at least 2.3 Japanese people. It is 45,000 yen per person with this content. Whether you go or not depends on you (Original)

We were fortunate as it was only my dining partner and me seated at the wagyu counter on a weekday night. I had the Ozakigyu Omakase menu with a bottle of sake. It was fantastic. The cooking style of the chef really showcased the natural flavours of the Ozaki beef. The best part of the experience was Chef Yosuke's clear explanations that followed the preparation of each dish, including his helpful suggestions on how best to enjoy it. Taka Ushi gave me one of the best omakase experiences I've ever had. I highly recommend the 8-course Ozakigyu Omakase menu. This restaurant deserves a Michelin star in the upcoming Michelin Guide for Malaysia.

Located at St Regis, the restaurant served Authentic Japanese food. The ambience of the restaurant is good and practical for business discussion. the restaurant provides private room and open space where it is good for business or casual. As it is in St Regis, the price is still reasonable with the experience.

If you are looking for an extraordinary unbelievably delecious food, this is the place to go, dress up, be hungry and get ready to have your mind blown away, ask for chef Satoshi and Order their special Wagi Sando. Also make sure you have enough on your credit card, this isn't your usual restaurant.

This is a fine cuisine japanese restaurant. It's in the St. Regis hotel premise. The choices of dishes are limited to some set and ala carte but adequate to satisfy a discerning palate. A good choices of sake to accompany your food are available. The chef's style is unique in its presentation and flavour. An enjoyable feast of flavour for the palate.

Been here twice with my previous boss treated us a lunch cost 1000+ per person. Overall should be no doubt on the food but the intangible effect the dining experience and the chef was not prepared well as we expect the chef represent chef Saito so at least give some standard for it for this high price sushi.
