Since 2015 I've been dining in contango from time to time. Their buffet price also keep on increasing while quality is dropping. Price from rm100 nett to 125nett and now 145nett. At rm100 era There is a live grill station which you can order the level of cookness that you get to choose few type of meat which is lamb and beer etc. Sashimi section offer over 4 types of sashimi like tuna, salmon, octopus leg, butter fish etc. Cold platter section offer fresh crab , big prawn, green mussel , and oyster!!! Desert section offer huge range! Used to be one of the best in KL, offer ice cream and fruit section as well. At rm125 era Cut off the oyster! No more live grill station, only pregrill in a big pot. Desert is less than before. Overall still acceptable. At rm145 era, which is today that i tried. I've decided this is my last time that i will visit here. They decided to cut off a lot of thing to save cost, teabag from TWININGS to DILMAH which smell terribly etc. No more fruit station, desert selection is less than half compared to before. Cold platter now left SMALL prawn and SMALL green mussel! Japanese sushi n sashimi section left 2 types of sashimi which is trout and not so fresh low cost yellowfin tuna, and even widely available red sause seasoned baby octopus is no more. Even the icecream is not solid and melting like they set the fridge temperature higher to save electricity. I suspected that they cut all the good food and do cheap room package which including the buffet dinner to attract all the customer to bring in more cash flow. Worst is that used to be no time limit and now there is 2 hours time frame which is lousy. Noticed that most of the worker is foreign worker as well. Parking charges increased from rm10 per vehicle to rm15 as well. Really huge disappointment that consider I'm a fans of contango and support them for so long! Im out.

Very beautiful hotel with excellent decorations. Attentive and great services by staff (except for dessert area). The CNY dinner buffet were quite good. Complimentary yee sang and also birthday cake. Foods were overall good. Highlights were the tiger prawn and sashimi. Tempura was quite good. Same goes for the four season roll. Guava juice and hot chocolate were good choice. The clear soup noodle and chicken rice were not so nice though, can be improved. Some of the lambs were too hard as well. Mac and cheese was quite bland. Dim sum was OK, nothing to shout about. Overall, felt that the foods should be improved to match the price.

Had the Weekday Dinner Buffet (RM138 after eatigo 30% discount @ 8pm) Food: Food was decent for a hotel buffet. Our favorites were the salmon sashimi, fresh and cooked prawns, tomyam soup, roasted vege, fried chicken in xo sauce, tempura station, pear berry crumble and croffle. Food was well decorated and clean! Good dessert spread. Misses: Pasta was undercooked (not aldente) and overly salted, crepe batter was overly salty, roast beef was tough and too lean, roast chicken too dry, and was disappointing to see no rojak station with fresh fruits to be mixed in. They have a pasembur station that no one touched. Maybe can change to a rojak station instead as it is always a HIT in other hotel buffets. Service: Everyone was kind and helpful but the running waiters are not observant as we had to walk to them in their corner to ask for water or clean up table. Good be better. Parking: RM15/entry

Great buffet dinner..food was all hot n warm. International spread. Too much food couldnt get a chance to try out the cakes section. We purchased our buffet dinner via eatigo apps which gives us discounts for all buffet restaurants. Ambience is beautiful and glam. Wil come by again this time hopefully can stuffed some cakes too.

Had buffet lunch on cny eve. Overall not up to the standard for the price charged. Food quality: Sushi taste was terrible. Mushy rice. Sashimi did not taste fresh and rather chewy. Curry very salty. Sausage salty. The rest so-so. Several desserts are too sweet. Food variety: Mediocre. Service: Just within one hour some food trays were empty. Very slow refills which is Not acceptable for buffet.

They’ve been keeping their quality even in the midst of pandemic. Good food and service. Make sure you call in advance and book your table. Their alcohol package is worth to add on.

The buffet spread has a good variety of Asian and Western cuisines. One of the better ones in KL in my opinion. Seating is spacious and service is attentive. They offer discounts (different rates depending on your timing) if you book through eatigo.

Enjoyed the food selection tremendously. Despite comments about the lack of choices for the price, I personally felt less is more if the quality of the food selections is superb.. The deserts were meltingly glorious. Enjoyed the roast beef , medium rare perfectly and so tender, sashimi selection was fresh and consistently topped up. The salad could have been more pleasingly displayed ( salad in a bottle seems creative but I like to pick n choose my salad dressings n toppings) The complimentary birthday cake given was surprisingly dark chocolate ganache and we enjoyed that too. We had an attentive waiter too . Overall, an enjoyable and memorable experience

This is a grossly over-rated 5 star restaurant. I am totally appalled that the restaurant charges 5 star rates for very limited buffet spread and very bad service. If there was an option for zero stars, this restaurant would deserve that. Issues encountered during the buffet lunch today (20 Dec):- 1. Desserts ran out by 1.45pm. On inquiry, staff mentioned no more replenishment despite buffet end time at 2.30pm. Why call it a buffet then? 2. Fruits seem to be not fresh and soggy. First time seeing this served in a buffet line. 3. Service team seems to have no motivation to deliver. This is probably the only 5 stars hotel restaurant that delivers service with very bad attitudes. 4. So called barristar maning the coffee machine was either lazy or truly there was no electricity supply to the machine. The latter was the response when asked to be served with a cup of lattee. Instead, was asked to go queue and DIY at the instant coffee machine. 5 stars? 5. Manager or supervisor does not seem to have control over the operations. I wonder if these staff are trained for the job as this seem to be the worst ran restaurant that I have seen. Again 5 stars? 6. Restaurant has flies. Not sure if any customers had any issues with their tummies but there were flies helping itselves to the jellyfish salad. No restaurant employee seem to notice this or were they just turning on a blind eye? Who ever is thinking of having a nice and good meal here, please think twice. There are many more better options at the similar price range that would guarantee a better experience.

Dinner or breakfast..the buffet is always super good. They have many selection of meat and deserts esp during Christmas time. As for breakfast..their croissants are to die for...its so buttery ,cripsy yet so fluffy... my favourite here is that there is a barista that takes your coffee order and they make the coffee art which I feel its so satisfying to watch!

Had a CNY lunch. The ambience is good with jazz swing music in the background from the parking to the restaurant. Food selection wise , a mixture of western, Malaysian, Japanese sushi sashimi. Quality is at best 3 stars for the cooked meat, lamb and beef mostly overcooked and stiff. Sashimi was fresh with a complimentary plate of Salmon Yee Sang. Extensive selection of pastries and dessert though not my preference. Good selection of coffee and house wine to go with the meal. The 4 stars is for the ambience to complement the slightly above average food. Decent enough for this price range.

We came for buffet dinner at Contango, Hotel Majestic. There is a wide variety of food from local, western, Japanese, desserts and drinks. As a vegetarian, there aren't many choices, but if you ask the chefs, they are able to come up with vegetarian options such as pasta, sushi, etc. Food was prepared quickly and we're generally delicious. We had cappuccino and latte besides dessert and all were good. They have an interesting system where you place ice cream sticks with your table number at each buffet station and food will be served to you when ready. Service was very polite and prompt. We arrived at 6 pm and last call was at 7.30 pm and were asked, politely, to finish by 8 pm. The overall ambience, service, food variety and taste make Contango's buffet one of the best in town.

Nice place at the Majestic Hotel, and I would recommend calling ahead to book. RM125 nett per person and there are quite a number of items to choose from. There are the pasta and pizzas, western dishes and salad, seafood on ice, Malaysian dishes, Indian dishes and Japanaese dishes. Ample spread of desserts as well as juices, coffee and tea. Food is fresh and taste good. Highlight I would say would be the tempuras and sashimis and their roast beef was pretty good. Only draw back I find they are rigid, they open at 630pm and they wont allow you in even a minute earlier to sit and chat as there are hardly any seating in the lobby of Majestic Hotel. Secondly I notice they replenish their food items too slow, especially the Japanese section which is the most popular and their only refill in small quantities. Other than that, I guess it is all good. Parking is convenient at RM10 per entry.

It has been quite a while since we visited Contango, Majestic Hotel. Made CNY day 1 dinner booking reservation for 10 pax, which i already made full advance payment. Everything was ok so far until the following, which was such disrespectful to a customer like myself. 1. We ordered Drinks i.e Pepsi Zero Sugar, before having our buffet dinner. And your Contango people cannot wait until we finish our meals, already asking us to pay for the 3 cans of Pepsi that we ordered. 2. I booked for 10 pax and realised on the day that i needed an additional 1 more seat. I immediately informed the receptionist guys at the entrance of Contango to add 1 more pax, and i will pay the extra pax once we complete our meals for the nite. (10 pax already pre-paid by me via online) Again, you guys came with the bills for 1 additional pax and made us pay before we finish our meals. In my opinion, it's so very unprofessional of Contango, Majestic to do so asking customers to pay immediately like we are gonna run off without paying for that 3 cans of Pepsi and 1 additional pax buffet meal. Seriously, if that's how you perceived your paying customers as cheapo customers, By all means, i shall book elsewhere for my family gathering as i do not see Majestic Hotel fit to portray as a reputatable high class hotel. And what the fish, with your paper serviette instead of proper cloth Napkins (fyi, Chynna Restaurant, Hilton provides proper cloth napkins) after asking me to pay RM180 per pax. If Contango, Majestic Hotel is a Mamak stall, yes, i can understand. Such a low blow !!

I'm not the buffet type, as usually the food is prepared for quantity and not quality. But in Contango, from sushi, soups, local dishes to pizza and pasta everything was cooked in front of the guest! Wow! There is a lot of variety, so before you tried everything, you get full already. The buffet was very nice presented and decorated. I cannot remember how the service was, because i was so amazed about the buffet spread and its quality. I'll definitely be back.

If you love dessert, Contango is probably one of the best desserts you can find at a buffet. The food spread was also good, both Eastern and Western food was all cooked quite well. Pizza was abit of a miss but pasta station was tasty. Even got a barista who can whip up a variety of coffee/tea. Definitely one worth revisiting. Staff could have been a tad more friendly, a few looked like they didn’t want to be there πŸ˜… Got 20% off eatigo too. Will look forward to try their dinner spread next time.

Their desserts were quite disappointing too taste wise.

Ohya, booked it using eatigo much more cheaper . It's worth a try tho ?

If you are thinking of dinner buffet, this place should be at the top of your list if you are coming to KL. Worth the money you pay with the great food selection, ambience, service and quality. Made a reservation for 2 people and was very happy that they had given me a quiet cozy corner. Besides that, very appreciated that the waiters paid attention to us even when we were away from the big crowds. Please do keep up the great service and quality. Will definitely come back here again. =)

Contango is inside the Hotel Majestic , at lobby area. Very cosy and comfortable to have buffet dinner with my friends. Saw a lot of couples dining at here. The buffet dining is International style. My friend booking thru Apps "Eatigo" - there are different prices depending on the time slot. Variety of foods from Western to Orient and local foods too. Pasta , pizza , salads, Japanese sashimi , sushi , different type of noodles and rice as well as local foods from Indian, Indian Muslim, Malay , Chinese dishes ....etc. The dessert including a lot choices of cakes and ice-cream. The coffee and juice counter are brilliant too. Overall, the foods are very very delicious . My friends & I - very satisfying for our 1st time dining at here.

Khan our waiter has been relentlessly clearing most of the tables but the number of tables per waiter were just too many. Kudos to him being friendly and helpful. Should improve on varieties of pastries. Limited cakes just 2 types to choose from. As for seafood, crab was mushy not fresh. Overall a good spread.
