I had to give 3 stars not because of the foods but the receptionist at the cafe. Came here twice, one for dinner and one just now for lunch. Everything was splendid but sadly we are very disappointed by the staff at the receptionist by the name of Aishah and another lady there today. They’re very rude and we feel that this is not acceptable given that it’s a five star hotel. We had a misunderstanding on the bills but they could’ve sorted it professionally without being rude but that is not the case. All the other staffs are very very friendly and we feel very welcomed so I hope the management can take note on this so it did not happen again.

We dined here for the first time after a business connection session. The lunch buffet was simply amazing with uncountable varieties. Very filling though. There was a special counter for local food that served Sarawak cuisine. Really enjoyed it. Apart from that, the comprising local, Western & Japanese desserts were also equally attractive and appetising. The noodle counter is another one that should not be missed. The service was excellent. Such a lovely ambience. Comfortable tables & chairs. There's a waterfall outside the window that's soothing to the eyes too and relaxes mind too.

Their lamb chop is by far one of the best lamb chop I ever eaten. Well cooked with optimal juiciness and tender. Served with mash potato and veggies. The sauce fits well with the lamb chop. I have ordered their mojito, quite refreshing with its mint leaves and key lime. I would say it's a perfect blend of refreshness.

It is a joyful dining restaurant with a nicely done setting. There are tons of variety of food to be chose from and they are all beautifully decorated. The cold smoked prawn and mussels are very fresh; the lamb soup is very tasty; pizza, creamy chicken, satay and etc are all good and marvellous. You can have plenty of fresh salads too. The dessert is even better; I had a variety of pudding, ice cream, ABC and sweets. The service is good and staff is nice and attentive. Overall, it's a good experience.

Very very bad experience, me and my friend were there having dinner last week, pricey and limited choices, it’s fine let’s not talk about pricing and choices. but I doubt the hygiene and the freshness of the food because both me and my friend were having bad food poisoning and one admitted to hospital the night itself. Please be sure ur food freshness if you gonna claimed yourself as premium hotel buffet. Not recommended for anyone who looking for buffet dinner.

The buffet spread could have been better. Noticed that they lack cold cuts, cheeses, sashimi, oysters, pizza and a few other items. The satay and beef lasagna are quite good. Rather disappointed that they serve only coffee and do not have tea for those who can't take coffee. The service staffs are quite efficient.

16/9/2023 - Saturday. My husband & I have our 1st morning breakfast at the Intercontinental Hotel, Jalan Ampang, Sarena Brasserie. The layout of the buffet counter was very well designed. The seating area was spacious. The servers were very attentive, pleasant, and helpful. I was impressed by this ( I guessed ) change of new team/servers. Most of the servers speak good English. Way back then. Not many servers were speaking good English or whenever asked those X servers for assistance. They are kind of looking back at you in blurred 🙄❓️. Since after the pandemic. We are back to this hotel. We were very impressed by the new staff/ the new team. This time, the services were top-notch. Thanks to ALL the staff, servers, and chefs for your services. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

At Serena, you will experience a spectacular buffet spread which boasts authentic good food selection choices. This will cater well to the various foreign nationalities who are staying at InterContinental at any one tme and locals alike. An absolutely stunning selection of food. Kim Soon the Food And Beverage Manager,Mr Kamin The Executive Chef and Raja The Assistant Restaurant Manager are the true professionals here.Attentive and very helpful. you truly feel quite comfortable under their expert care. As for the service crew and chefs, we always have a very good experience every time we visit. We could say ..they are one of the very best in our lifetime. There is a new addition to the buffet menu that will promise to delight many. The Udang Masak Sambal Petai dish is truly authentic and very Malaysian. You don't often see that served up often in major hotels.A definitely brilliant idea! Make sure you also try the Lobster Termidore,Spaghetti Carbonara and Seafood Chowder done by Yusoff. They were our favourites. We keep returning for more! The a la carte food choice is also available here. Serena is a highly recommended brasserie that will definitely not disappoint.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have been a patron of Serena Brasserie for many years as part of the Gourmet Collection member. I have always enjoyed the food, the experience and the hospitality and have celebrated many life events at the restaurant. There were some minor issues during each visit but I usually overlook due to the overall positive vibes. Unfortunately, my recent visit on the 3rd June for the Tex-Mex buffet, I have experienced my worst ever dining experience in all my years patronizing this restaurant. Below are my observations: - #1: Going to the restaurant without reservations. This would be the first time walked-in to the restaurant without making reservations, even though I was staying in the Club InterContinental. Biggest mistake of my life. My family of 4 was given a table right at the far back corner, even though there were empty tables in the middle. It was next to impossible to get the attention of the waiters. I initially thought it was ok to be seated so far away but after a while, I felt that the manager could have placed me at a better table where it is within line of sight of the waiters. #2: The food were not replenished quickly enough. The sushi, sashimi and seafood (oysters and clams) are usually the most popular food in any buffet. When I was there at 7:15 pm, I noticed that the above-mentioned food were almost empty; the sushi/sashimi trays are empty, the were two crayfish, zero oysters and mostly empty clams. People were walking back and forth the area and none of the staff were even aware that people are loitering around the area. I had to complain annoyingly to the manager why were the food not replenished. Only then did he direct one of the crew to remove the empty trays and replenish the food. When I wanted to pour myself some soy sauce, guess what? It was empty. Why isn't the crew checking the condiments to ensure every is topped up? I had to pass the empty pot to one of the passing chefs to get it refilled. #3: The seafood were not fresh When the oysters were replenished, there were all shrunken and not fresh at all. Same goes with the clams. The sashimi were also not fresh and the colour of the meat look drained as though they have been prepared days earlier and put on ice and refrigerated. How I know this? Because I could taste the ice and the meat was saturated with water. #4: The oysters were contaminated. Because the oysters were stacked on top of each other, the shell flakes could be visibly seen on the meat. Please do a better job ensuring the food is presentable. This is a restaurant in a 5-star hotel. #5: Super limited food. For a price tag of RM208+ for an adult, I expect a wide selection of food and options. What was presented that night was really pitiful and just not worth the price tag. As for the drinks, there was only plain water and ais kacang. Were there any juices? Absolutely not. Juices should be standard offering in any buffet. #6: Non-attentive staff, managers included. This batch of crew were the worst. Nobody offered to clear the plates off my table. I was stacking all my used plates on the next table. The occasion where a staff walked to my area, they would see the tables filled with plates and just walked off. Gone are the days where the waiters would asked whether I wanted a cup of coffee and gladly get me one. Now, even when I walked to the coffee machine to get a cup myself, none of the waiters offered to help me. Instead, they were more focused with their conversation rather than helping a patron. #7: Lack of interaction. Back in the heyday, the restaurant managers would make it their duty to ensure the patrons had an excellent dining experience. They would anticipate the needs of the diners to give their best. At times, when the situation gets busy, the managers would get their hands dirty to ensure, clearing the table, inspecting the food levels, interacting with the diners, etc. I no longer see this. #8: Conclusion Significant improvements required or else I am never going back to Serena Brasserie.

Dropped by to have a try since I have some vouchers to redeem. OK buffet... not bad but nothing impressive either. Roasted lamb and satay is good. Other dishes that we tried are ok. Some are cold despite being served in a warmer. They should work on the freshness of the seafood section.... its really unappetising for me and looks like some items should be discarded already Only drinks available are coffee, tea and plain water. Other options would be additional charge. Not sure if the lunch quality is affected due to Puasa period Overall I feel it's not worth the full price of 198++ per person based on what I experienced today

During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of experiencing the Serena Brasserie lunch buffet at Kuala Lumpur Intercontinental Hotel. Priced at approximately 198 Malaysian Ringgit per person, the buffet presented an impressive array of culinary delights. From the freshness of the oysters to the exquisite beef Wellington, and the diverse offerings of salmon, sushi, and local Malaysian delicacies, the variety catered to a wide range of palates. One noteworthy mention is the attention to detail in the presentation and flavors of the dishes, which truly delighted the senses. Even their black coffee stood out for its refined taste. However, beyond the gastronomic offerings, it was the impeccable service that left a lasting impression. The waitstaff exhibited a level of friendliness and professionalism akin to that of a trusted confidante. Their attentive and personalized service elevated the dining experience, making it evident that guest satisfaction is a top priority for the establishment. In conclusion, the Serena Brasserie lunch buffet at Kuala Lumpur Intercontinental Hotel offers not only an expansive selection of delectable dishes but also a remarkable standard of service. It's a testament to their commitment to providing a memorable and refined dining experience.

Environment ok. The only seafood selection that is nice are oyster and prawn, but always out of stock. Long wait time to replenish. Otak-otak not cook/grill properly, watery inside. Lotsa different types of chicken and prawns. Beef and lamb not nice not tender enough. Watermelon juice not thick and slow service. Should have a juice section itself for convenience. Worst lasagna, not cheesy meat fragrance and layered.

Wonderful wonderful service all round. Fish and chips was a delight, the rest is ok. Bread is not as fresh as it should for a place like this. Great, professional, attentive and knowledgeable manager (i didn’t catch his name. He is a Sabahan). Pity that he will be leaving in January. With his aptitude and attitude, there’s a very lucky future employer waiting for him. One extra star here is for him and his crew.

Came here for Sunday Brunch, the service is great. The food is great with lots of variety. The seafood on ice is the star highlights in my humble opinion, they are premium shell fish and served fresh. The meats are cooked to perfection. There is a playground area cater for the kids and they even have a clown walking around to entertain the guests and their children!! Definitely value for money!

One word…DISAPPOINTED!!!! We booked Serene Brassiere for 9 people for Christmas Day and in correctly assumed that the restaurant would be offering a Christmas buffet lunch. The restaurant made contacted with us at 11:40am 20 minutes prior to the reservation time to inform us that the buffet was not being offered but we could order from the ala carte menu. I asked to speak to the restaurant duty manager and complained stating that I booked 2 weeks ago yet they only informed 20mins yes 20 mins before the reservation, what type of service is this??? What made matters worse was that he gave very little regards to the matter. What choice did we have as my guess were due to arrive at 12 noon. The wait staff did not know the menu well and we had to explain and point to the items on the menu to order. On top of this we had to ask them for plates and cutlery as well as sharing spoons (COVID SOP????) as we were sharing entrees and then we had to ask them to take them away so the mains could be placed on the table. The mains were average at best, but the kicker that made a bad situation worse was the desserts. We order 3 desserts to share, the pavlova, brownie and cheesecake. The serving size of the pavlova was smaller than a child’s palm at ~RM40!!!. The cheesecake at ~RM33 was ~2cm wide x 6cm long. The brownie tasted dry and stale and all this took more than 30minutes from order to be deliver to the table. I previously stayed at this hotel for 8 months in 2014 / 2015 2 - 3 nights / week where the service was impeccable. I have to say that our experience and service was so disappointing and not to the usual IHG standard expected - in particular the manner to which the lunch duty manager responded in such a disgruntle manner. Customer service is what the hotel is about and if this is the service provided maybe the staff at IHG needs additional training, failing this you may find less and less patrons. By the way we were not the only other patrons that complained on Christmas as we observed another couple expecting a buffet lunch, but maybe they made the correct choice and left the restaurant without ordering.

t was a very crowded restaurant on Sunday morning. Can tell that the staff are overwhelmed with requests and lack of tables. There was long queue that forming outside the restaurant. Wanted to give a 2 star rating due to the response of service standard to the crowded mess. Was directed to an already occupied table which was a let down. But things start looking up when I see the staff effort to resolve situation asap. The food was also replenished when I went back second time to the originally emptied tray. Food wise and drink - the food is good. Taste is better than some big brand hotel I had visited. Can also tell that the chefs are more seasoned and experienced which probably explain the maintained standard of food. Drink was plus when I can order double espresso ice latte. Not diluted and full bodied with good notes. I want to take time to complement a good service staff - Mr Alejandro. He upped the standard of this restaurant when he came over and asked us how is our breakfast and offered to bring us more drinks or help if we needed. In such a crowded restaurant, and having someone come over and check in, warmed our heart more than the stomach. I hope that more service staff can be more like him so that overall service standard can be sincere and no longer in an industry that just smile and get things over with. Thank you, Mr Alejandro for making the breakfast a memorable one.

Wanted to give 5 but the chicken was a disappointment. Me and my colleagues found out that most our chicken were not cooked well enough. (Refer to the picture) Please improve on this. Others like seafood & fish were well grilled. Aglio olio was good.

I personally felt that there aren't many selection of foods. I went last Saturday. They served mainly Mexican foods, there was a counter with Mexican chips, condiment and the dips. And then a fish. Some grilled sausages, salmon, prawn, beef and lamb. The entire section looks real small tho. and then there is some seafood with cold prawn, oyster (looks pretty shrunken and pale), clam, salmon and crawfish with a few types of sushi. followed by the dessert which mainly cakes, ice cream. there is also an Asian cuisine counter which has sambal ikan bilis with petai, curry mutton, stewed beef and a few more. Comparing to the hotel buffet, I must say that the selection indeed is quite limited. Basically just 2 rows of foods, the largest section counter is the salad and fruits. the rest are served in very little selection individually. Last but not least, the taste was average, would say nothing special. Well..perhaps Westin or Shang ri la would be better.

Sago gula melaka is a creamy sago pudding served with thickened palm sugar that gives off a flavour of caramelized toffee. Sago are little starchy pearls sometimes known as tapioca pearls. They are cooked until they turned almost transparent. But, your sago memang tak sedap. The coconut milk is a bit burnt. Kecewa. Thumbs down. But the grilled salmon is very much recommended. Maybe the fish can be cooked a tad bit lesser time, cuz the texture of the flesh of the salmon a bit tough to my liking Overall okay lah. The service is quite fair because the crowd is rathe empty. Keep up the good work & keep on improving. 6/10.

So so so disappointing! Food was average at best, we had high expectations since it's a 5 star hotel but the buffet dinner was anything but 5 star. More like 3 star. Food was bland, cold and some were just not good even for me who is not a picky eater. The dinner cost 180 per pax, so for 2 it was 360. It was marketed as a special Christmas festive buffet and I believe it was higher than the normal buffet price, it certainly didn't justified on the extra charges apart from the turkey and beef brisket. Even the pasta station was not good, the roadside stall near my house is miles better than the hotel taste. This hotel as a whole seems to be dwindling down in terms of service and quality. I hope the management takes these matter seriously to improve.
