Finally went in here after seeing this restaurant chain all over the city. But sadly, was hugely disappointed. The food were really lack of seasoning, the taste is barely there, yet the price is not worth it. I ordered the Beef Kway Teow, and it was ‘just okay’, nothing special. My family also did not like the food here. Please re-evaluate your food quality.

Portions are really small for the hefty price. I had the Indian mamak which was lacking in taste while my husband had the hainanese chicken rice- he was served with dehydrated looking chicken wings. Definitely will not recommend.

Was looking for a place for dinner while shopping in Pavilion and decided to give this shop a try. Place was clean and comfortable. Can’t talk much about service. Food was average ( definitely not one that make me go back for) with a decent choice. Beef hor fan was ok, chicken rice was serve cold.

Just arrived in KL from the Philippines and this is our first meal. The food was amazing! We can't wait to try more Malaysian dishes. Would definitely recommend Grandmama's to my friends who will travel here. Get the curry laksa, any of the nasi, and the char kuay teow!

Had this Nasi Ayam Istimewa in Grandmama, Pavilion. It was good and service tip top. The only thing i dislike is the lighting there a bit dark but well this is personal preferance only. The original Nasi Ayam Istimewa comes with a beef rendang as the side but i requested to have it changed to something else, they gave me curry chicken. Good job for being fexible.

This is my best discovery during my last trip to Kuala Lumpur. The dishes at Grandmama's are prepared the traditional way so if you are curious about Malaysian food, you have to visit this restaurant. A bit expensive though but serving is generous and even good for sharing. I super love the fried chicken which was perfectly crisp and juicy on the inside. Very flavorful also. Excited to dine again soon!

Having a bad experience here. Beware make sure you have correct food as displayed. They serve food with missing items and without mention the ingredients is out of stock until asked. Just few minutes only they give the missing ingredients which mentioned out of stock?? Kind a joke for me. But appreciate there the waiter manage to request the missing ingredients although she is not the one checking our order

    1. Very disappointed with the food presentation for the price given. Better go out hawker stall buy chicken rice also better presentation. I understand the price charged but given with such presentation is so not worth it. 2. Very disappointed with the service. a) The Hainanese chicken rice took so long to come. Call the waiter and ask regarding the status of the food, no update was given back. Waiters are all not vocal at all. Have to ask second time only we know it’s still cooking. b) During CNY there were so many people queuing outside of the shop. And there were so many empty places in the restaurant but don’t know why they don’t let in. Cleaning also slow, letting people in also slow. Never coming back again.

The photos are better than actual food. The favor just fine. The service need to be improved more. When me stood at the door, the waiter didn’t know how to invite us in. When we asked for the recommendation of menu, there wasn’t any introduction. When my friend finished the meal, I couldn’t enjoy mine…

Ordered chicken satay, comes with 5 sticks rm18.90 which is a bit overpriced but the peanut sauce is nice. Char Kuey Teow Rm19.90 - it's not tasty, chef might have forgotten to add soy sauce. Fried Mee mamak rm21.90 is nice and tasty..

The best place for authentic local Malaysian food is along the roadside stalls. However, if one prefers air-conditioning and a better ambience, Grandmama serves fairly decent local Malaysian cuisine at reasonable prices. We had Char Kway Teow and Nasi Ayam Istimewa. For dessert, I would recommend the chendol.

Recommend this authentic Malaysian restaurant! As a traveler I wanted to taste local Malaysian dishes. I tried the food market in KL but the street food can be not clean sometimes and gave me bad stomach. Thanks god I went to Grandmama's in Pavilion. Every dishes are full of flavour and the staffs are very attentive to me even tho I'm just dinning alone! I highly recommend the Chicken Satay and the Char Kway Teow. For dessert, definitely have their Cendol! It's very refreshing. ☺️ Once again, the staffs here are the friendliest I've ever seen. If you're nearby, give this place a try.

Great place for authentic Malaysian food for dinner and to take home. Servers went above and beyond. They helped me find a charging spot for my phone so I could plug in with my phone and personal items on a chair beside me. They had quick service and taught me a few things about the country when I asked! 10/10 would recommend! They have frozen entree packets to bring home as an option if it make sense for you. I got the laksa! It’s one of the best noodle curries I’ve ever had. There is a bit of heat to it! Enjoy! The Ayam Masak Merak photo is of the frozen packages to take home if you have the ability to keep it frozen. Server said this was his kid’s favorite.

Vibrant and welcoming space with an outdoor area. However we didn’t enjoy our meal as much as we would have. Food was in small portions at high prices. 😗 Traditional Beef Rendang was dry and tasteless, I felt like eating meat they cooked in Chinese soup. 😓The sauce was also bland and lack of richness. Paku with Sambal Belacan had a great taste but was way too spicy. 🥵 Wish there was a level of spiciness that we can choose. Others dishes were ok but nothing to brag about. I don’t think I’ll return as there are so many other eateries in the complex for me to explore. 😏

Given our proximity to Pavilion, this has become our preferred spot, especially during birthday or festive celebrations, primarily for their standout curry fish head. The ayam goreng rempah is an absolute must-try, boasting a rich blend of spices that never fails to impress. The culinary experience overall is acceptable, as with a menu that reliably delivers on taste and quality. Cap off your meal on a sweet note by indulging in their tempting desserts, such as the ice-kacang or cendol. These delightful treats add the perfect finishing touch to a flavorful dining experience.

Wanted to try their nasi goreng kampung however it's not available. Opted for their nasi ayam istimewa instead. Food presentation was a little disappointing. Their fried rice is yummy and came in a huge portion. When we went to the counter to settle the bills, one of the service crew was shouting foul words towards the kitchen crew and making other customers looking back to see whats going on. Please check on this crew as he was unprofessional and making everybody uncomfortable with his rude shouting.

Always love Malaysian food as it has been our heritage since young. Not a malaysian if you never try their "sangat sedap" authentic local all time favourite Nasi lemak with fried chicken drumstick & my hubby ordered the "must try" Beef kuey teow, it's flavourful with wok-hei! Thumbs up!

Similar to Madame Kwan, this restaurant serves local cuisine at a premium price, although the food was pretty decent. Their signature dish is Nasi Lemak Istimewa, which is Nasi Bojari, but tastes better than Madame Kwan's Nasi Bojari. The chow kuey teow is ok, but lack of aroma. The Banana Fritters was good. The service was good, fast serving of food. Ok environment, not crowded. They charge RM 1 for plain water.

Serving great food and relatively affordable prices. Grandmama provides delicious dishes from a wide array of items in a food menu. I had the curry laksa and it was creamy and flavourful. Nothing too spicy or too rich. Try to whack on some of their harmless sambal which just adds to the wonderful flavor. Other dishes i’ll recommend is the nasik lemak with selectable sides and the moonlight horfun! The portions are pretty big as well so you’ll be happy and filled. I’ll head back the next time i’m back in the area for sure

Not too bad Chinese halal food served within 15 minutes or at least the first serving... With all (there were 9 of us) sampling our respective meals under 25 minutes. Didn't disappoint. Ordered the Ginger Beef Stir-fry Kuew Teow...it's a yum!! Others ordered Curry Mee Laksa, Fish Ball Noodle Soup, Hainanese Chicken Rice...all no complaints. Will return to sample more dishes. Unfortunately didn't have the luxury of time to sample their CNY offering. No food pics too..too much in hurry to sample our meals ????

My new favourite place to eat with family and friends. The staff is so kind and attentive. The foods was good and the price is considered very reasonable for a restaurant in Pavilion shopping mall. I've tried mee rebus (merdeka specials) and my friend tried laksa johor. It was so good we end up finish the whole bowl and plate. Will come again for sure. They also provide plastic bag to put our face mask especially during this Covid-19 PKPP phase. What a nice gesture to go extra miles for their customers 😁

The vacuum packed potatoes curry chicken I ordered online was a disappointment. The chicken pieces were not tasty and the tiny portion of the potatoes were not the quality types that I used to buy. There is hardly any santan taste in the curry. Overall I rate the food at 4/10. Price wise, it's expensive too.

The restaurant serve some local cuisine, the setup is quite spacious, the staff is friendly to introduce us the best food to try in their shop which are sedap char kuey tiaw (17.90) and signature mee goreng (17.90). We only wait about 15 min to get our food serve. The sedap char kuey tiaw langsung tak sedap, no wok hei, and taste bland. The signature mee goreng is sweet in taste, I think they add in tomato sauce. Both recommend dishes are not sedap at all. Overall. Service is friendly, but food need to be improve.

Food was served fairly quickly. Taste was more or less at what my expectations were (shopping mall food). Environment was clean. And plenty of staff who are attentive to your needs. The only minor problems were the rocking tables (probably due to uneven floor surface). And one the ingredients were not evenly distributed when we ordered two of the same dish.

Food not worth with the price. Requested drumstick for the Chicken Rice but when serving the waitress just says 'no drumstick'. The part served was all bones with soggy green vege n bean sprouts! Food so so. Portion small and ingredients they use very little not worth RM20 - RM30. Environment not too bad but Service & Taste of Food really need some improvement for this kind of "Fancy" Price. Waiters not really listening some request too. *Bad experience as we ordered 3 warm water (RM1 each) but bill listed RM5 (+2) for warm water. Explain to them but still want to argue with us saying we Re-fill 2 water? You can check CCTV, I don't mind. Right now I forgive you but what if other people experience this? Luckily I see my bill first before paying. Keep it up.

One of our favourite local restaurant in MY that offers a variety of local cuisines. Our favourite orders are nails istimewa, fried chicken, fried sang har noodle, sate and ice kacang!

The Char Kway Teow is worth trying and worth for money as the portion is big. The Cantonese noodle is delicious and the seafood is fresh. Not forgetting Mamak rojak but a bit spicy for me. Service is super fast and my food is ready within 7 minutes. 👍

The food portion is good. But taste wise not my palate. All dishes taste ok, but the steam chicken is exceptionally awful. The steam chicken is not fresh like been steamed for days. Both taste and texture is off… The seating in the mall but somehow I don't feel the AC and is quite warm. Btw not sure about the food or what, 6 of us had the dinner, 5 experienced food indigestion, we have no appetite to eat for the following day.

Foods was great. This is our 2nd times here. 1st time we had hainan rice chicken in Genting, we were very satisfied. This time we ordered curry laksa, another hainan rice, fish head noodle, nasi lemak and the ice batu campur. Amazing. All is delicious, no complaint at all. We love it and definetely will come back next time we visit KL. Keep up the good work..

The food is reasonable for the price. Food is good portion and tasty. They have a parents day special meal for rm35.90 that is pretty good. Place is clean and good service The censor is not great but chilled mango pomelo cream and ABC Is pretty good

We were looking for good Malaysian food and we found this restaurant in Pavilion. It was the best experience! Food was good, ambience was extraordinary. 😊

Upon my return to Malaysia, I have been seeking and perhaps capturing the focus on rediscovering Malaysian all-time faves. Ice Kacang was my childhood. Went to many places, all too quickly just to be brushed as wrongly constructed. Often too much of everything, too sweet. Indeed reluctant to try at first, so decided to give it a go after some convincing from the host. The outcome is simple and not too ambitious. Hence, simplicity is a good thing when it concerns basic ice kacang. I got them to remove the ice cream and serve it separately. Overall service was efficient.

Food was superb! The Nasi Lemak and Char Kwetiau was the star out of all the food we ordered. We came to eat during the busy lunch rush and we had to wait a while to order our food.

Impeccable service and the food tasted amazing. My favourite is the nasi lemak istimewa cause the rice tasted fab with the beef rendang! Food was served quickly and fresh, definitely will come back (:

Food is good. The nasi lemak is good... much better than Madam Kwan's! The rice is excellent, the curry is flavourful and pekat. Generally much better and cost effective than Madam Kwan's. Only downside... the staff were not very conversant in English... unfortunately for an outlet smack in the midst of KL's tourist belt!
