I had some credits to burn otherwise I would not stay here. Price is very low so you are getting good value, but the you pay for what you get. There shared room has a strange persistent smell and there are clearly long term “tenants” living among travelers. Staff is friendly and help. Gym card requires request each time. Recommend not to order to food with them as I saw how they cooked it in the common kitchen and it didn’t not look very sanitary to me. Don’t use the kitchen. Views are amazing however

The hotel name on the ground not ohana it's Taragon so when I was asking about the hotel address no one knows it I spent 2 hours spinning around myself with grab to find it finally 5 minutes walk from where I was ( hang tauh station) so that's not nice. The hotel is just beside lalapot mall. First, there is no separate compartment for women, the capsules are all in a large compartment without dividers. Secondly, the bathrooms are shared between men and women and also showers (you can see naked men walking around covered only with a towel). Thirdly, you cannot close the door of the capsule from the inside while you are inside it, you can only put a lock on the door when you go out, and the lock is for 5 ringgit per night. There are no hangers inside the shower to hang clothes, and the place is narrow, so your clothes get wet. The sink is weird with multiple faucets and one drain hole. there's no microwave but there's a stove and kitchin tools . I hope this helps someone

LET ME TELL YOU A SECRET - GOOGLE MAPS DO GIVE WRONG NAVIGATION. The simplest way to get here is via LRT/Monorail Hang Tuah and then exit through Lalaport east exit (near Food Empire- Lalaport new food court). A pod per night cost rm30 per night if you walk in - some online booking site might cost you a little bit more. I already came twice and it mostly full of foreign travelers/backpackers. The least cost yet I can say that the facilities are tip top. Shared bathroom have 3 showers and 5 toilet if Im not mistaken so dont worry its never crowded or waited in line. A bit hot at evening, but it so cool at night. They have cleaner works around 7-8am. Please do hang around at their balcony with nice city landscape. HERE THE TIPS FROM ME :) - bring your own towel, toiletries & hangers - i recommend muslim to solat in Lalaport - stoves, microwave, iron, hot shower, refrig, sinks, food shelves, personal bed lamp and personal fan are provided by Ohana - bring your own pad lock to lock your pod - prepare extra rm10 for deposit purpose - need to left your shoes outside (it safe no worry)u

Here is my experience with accommodating at Ohana@Taragon Bukit Bintang. At first, it was usual check-in at 3 & check-out at 12 types of regulation. The lobby of Ohana is located on the 26th floor. My experience from the main entrance to the building to the elevator was full of foreigners from Bangladesh, Nepal, and India. The Ohana lobby on the 26th floor was okay. I understand the concept is suitable for solo travelers. I used to be one of the solos. The lobby is equipped with a mini self-service open-air cafe, can smoke also. My check-in process didn't go so well as the girl didn't explain enough about the provided parking and the room. I have to change the room as the type of the room is not what I paid for. The room is average, not so good not so bad. Suitable for what you paid. But i don't recommend this for a family. It is better to spend a little bit more for better. For solo travelers, this room/pod is totally top-class. The service provided by the cook, shisha maker and some other staff was friendly and decent. Keep it up. But please, there are a lot of improvements needed. Hope you guys are always well. Thanks.

Only stayed for one night and didn't do much because I'm a young lass and the place was quite populated by males, so just to be safe i just stayed in my pod. But other than that the toilets/showering area was fine, could be better but good enough. The place was decorated nicely, honestly quite aesthetic, i could vibe. Probably wouldn't recommend if you're a female traveling solo unless you wanna pull a me and just stay in your pod then go ahead~

Horrifying experience in private room/5 private rooms and 2 bathrooms. 6 days without a functional lock on main apartment door. Had to threaten to call police -twice!- just to get management motivated to repair/replace lock. Dangerous for tourist, also deceptive advertising. Pool area is accessible by rickety rotting wooden deck. Checked out 9 nights early, got refunded for 7, still short changed me 50RM. As I was waiting for my refund, realized why their ratings were artificially high. They keep beer *at cost* and free flowing. Food served is high sugar, high carbs. They use cult tactics to influence better ratings. Danger Danger Will Robinson.

**SLUM-LORD**Shameful attitude and straight up loony management operating a shady business. 👎🏻👎🏻Horrible place to stay, u could barely sleep from the noise coming from the common area as some drunk people blast music and sing karaoke past 12am. Try complaining to someone "responsible" there and you'll get a smart-bottom response devoid of any responsibility. This place should be shut down, they have nothing to do with the hospitality business they're involved in.👎🏻

online booked a single room with shared bathroom a month prior. the check-in counter was on level 26. mind you need to deposit rm50 so better have cash on you. the price wasn't that big of a difference than sleeping in the pod. recommended for solo female travelers. unless if you don't care about male and female mixed in one house. but don't worry, they usually mind their own business in their own rooms. overall stay was alright. would book again next time. :)

The cleanliness was more than poor. My bed was totally filthy and full of hair. Did not really look like this bed had been cleaned. The kitchen was also in a not so good condition. It felt more like being a guest in a shared apartment, not a good feeling. The view was ok but not spectacular as described. So far the worst hostel I have been to on my trip. Can't recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely HORRIBLE! Avoid at all costs! The rooms are tiny, with no windows. The room we were given SMELLS LIKE A TOILET! The staff there clearly knew it as when we complained they didn't even bother to come look just told us the place is fully booked so either we pay 4 times the price we paid and get a bigger apartment or we cancel our booking. Disgusting place! Room is full of bugs, the towels provided out full of stains and are like 10 years old, the bathroom is filthy! The entrance is sketchy as It gets. Lobby (which also smells like a toilet) is on the 26th floor and they provide rooms all over in different floors. The elevator is old too. Never book this hotel, you will only regret it! Edit: To the owner, What I paid for the room is irrelevant! People aren't going to ignore a good offer(lesson learnt). The fact of the master is, service to a customer isn't based on what they pay. As a so called hotel you should learn that. Secondly your receptionist NEVER even came to the room to try and deodorize it like you claim. That's just lies! As soon as we mentioned how smelly the room is she just said you'll are full and said we pay ANOTHER 215+ RMB to upgrade or ask agoda to cancel. A. Why should I pay for an upgrade when you are clearly, on purpose selling a room to customers knowing very well It smells? Don't believe me? Dare you to stay one night in room v of apartment 3A-3 B. You never offered to refund me fully. You know very well my booking is with Agoda and on the day of the booking nobody will give a 100% refund back. Sad facts. A typical scammer clearly running things that think the price a customer pays for a room is how they should be treated by. Learn a few things from MoMo's Kuala Lumpur, paid the same amount soon after I left your so called hotel, and got a private room, with a window AND a private bathroom. Clean as a whistle, and the staff are friendly as a 5* hotel. If you're too tired to run a clean establishment without scamming people I highly suggest you quit your business

Perhaps it was fair because the price is cheap, but I do wish that the dorms were a bit more well-kept, and have locks from the inside as well. I really liked the fact that it's next to Lalaport though, it makes it easier to commute using the train and also is a great hangout place.

WARNING - if you stay here and eat at Ohana KL be aware that there is a skinny oriental man with a beard and glasses who has a severe mental condition that causes him to kick off and throw things such as chairs at guests and customers over a the smallest of things. He threatened to throw my husband off the 26th Floor balcony for not having cash when they took card the week before. He threw a chair across the room also. This scared me as a woman and I said to him he should lose his job. Having spoken to some of the guests it’s not uncommon for him to kick off several times a day. He’s very close to the owner and so no one will fire him. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to be in a difficult situation. We was even asked to leave and made to feel this was our fault just because he’s the owners friend. Regardless of a condition don’t have someone like this on the front line. I also want to add here that the owners response is completely inaccurate. There were many witnesses that spotted the fragile state of the man who violently threw a chair and threatened to throw my husband off the balcony. I urge anyone thinking of dining or staying here to do so with caution and carry cash otherwise the same many is likely to start on you. Absolutely terrible establishment and response from the owner. I will be notifying any relevant authorities about the business including the tax avoidance due to them capping the amount of card withdrawals per day. I do this out of the care for safety of others.

Solo traveling, book a private room with separate bathroom for only RM60per night and RM50 deposit. Overall the room are quite nice but it may not be the best. Looking at how much I spend as long as I can get a good sleep under air conditioner its good. Good a lobby where people can mingle around so if you looking to get a new friend and a place to sleep without hurting your wallet. I would recommend this place.

Booked a family room for 4D3N and had a pleasant stay throughout our trip. The reception is located in the 26th floor. The room may need some improvement and the aircon was a little bit dusty. The family room was spacious but the lighting inside needs improvement, it was quite dark in the dining area. Overall, it was a good stay at OHANA

The smokers 💀 Lobby is full with 2nd hand smoke. So if you plan to do some works at the shared area, be mentally prepared for that💀 I woke up to smoke too. So be mentally prepared for that💀 Toilet and facilities are great. Rooms are great too. Worth the price. Laundry will cost you RM14. Bring along slippers for you to go to washrooms. ______2nd Visit__________ The smoking smell at bedroom area is greatly improved. But a bit hot if you got a room at the corner of the floor💀. And it was hot at the shared area and no aircon😭. And the 2nd hand smoke lol. There are a lot of nice LOCAL Chinese food at the back. So you can go there for breakfast. Very close to the embassy area. Recommend to those who just want a place to rest your head for a few days.

We stayed in a private family room which is at a separate location in the building. It's like a self check in Airbnb room. Room is large and can be divided into two rooms; one with a double bed and small balcony and the other with two single beds with a tiny kitchen area, the bathroom, and the entrance. It has a fairly large floor to ceiling patio/balcony door and decent view. The aircons are old but working fine. But the good story ends there. The entirety place is not maintained good and is in bad condition, and has a strong mold smell. WiFi is weak. The electric hot water heater makes breaking sounds when the shower is turned on, still the water is lukewarm at its best. This room can be useful if you are used to a run down, smelly, moldy environment

Cons 1) The lift to 26 stinks smells like garbage, 2) Every Time you need to access the 1st floor you need to ask the guards to open the door for you, 3) If you like sleeping with bugs, 4) The common area smoker are annoying with vipe and smoke, 5) Shared toilet has no holder for shampoo and no place to place your clothes. Pros 1) The view is nice at 26 floor

This is really nice place, affordable to stay and near to every location. Helpful staff and beautiful view from the 26th floor. I stayed at the bunk bed and it costed me RM30, which is worth to the facilities. Not recommended to solo female travelers but if you're with group, it's fine.

Dirty!! The bathrooms are anything but clean, there is never toilet paper and there’s water everywhere from the showers. They don’t have 24/7 reception, they don’t have breakfast included as stated on hostelworld, they super hot in the room, Wi-Fi is also not really working.. there’s for sure better hostels for the money you pay for Ohana. - it has a nice view though -

Roach infestation, they will crawl on you at night. Also, the owner is the most hostile, unfriendly person I’ve met in my 5 years of traveling the world. Openly confrontational to over 5 guests while I was there for ridiculous things. His team kicked a young girl out at midnight to go to the streets because another girl was having a mental health issue. Blamed it on demons. Host is the skinny little guy

The pods are nice for more privacy in a hostel, and each pod has a curtain, outlets, a light, and a fan. Guests were quiet. The showers are right by the toilets in the bathroom so they smell and everything is always wet. Good water pressure and warm water. The AC worked well. Check in staff was friendly and flexible with a late checkin but one worker yelled at me and threatened to fine me for having durian in a container in a bag in the fridge, which he only noticed when I took it out (you couldn’t smell it). The ironic part to me was that he came inside with his cigarette to yell at me, which to me is more smelly and dangerous for my health (and illegal). I did not deserve to be talked to so disrespectfully. Towels are not included but the sheets were clean. The only other negative is that no taxis or gps location took me to the right place- they all took me across the street at the sky hotel. It is nice that you can do laundry there- it’s 7 MYR for the washer and 7 MYR for the drier. Overall I’m not sure if I’d stay here again- it is a walkable area which is nice. The pool was not clean/usable.

    * Pros - Good privacy for each bed, large room for stuff, large suitcase storage area, security with tap-card, located at the 25-level with city view for free - Public swimming pool & gymnasium at the 3-level. - Totally affordable price & take credit cards - Friendly staff & willing to help - Good atmosphere for meeting people in the public area, but also a bar sit area for one person only. - Clean and they clean up daily, which you will see when you stay a whole day in the hostel * Cons - The place just makes you feel at home and you will like to stay forever.

Can't beat the value. As with any hostel, much of your experience is marked by the type of guests that are there at any particular time. Apart from that, ohana does a great job of making sure that you have a pleasant quaint stay while you are in KL. Every thing is kept moderately clean, such as you might expect from a place that charges 30 RM a night. Great place to sleep after going out to explore during the day. Perhaps the best thing is the location. Extremely Close to the Lrt, lalaport and berjaya Mall. At the same time walking distance to bukkit bintang area and a bunch of other notice landmarks in the city center (if you feel up for a good sweat). For the budget traveler, pudu is an amazing old Chinese area filled with cheap Chinese, indian, and Malaysian food, priced for local working class citizens. The food in pudu is honestly why i stay here.

A pod without air-conditioning, common washroom and shower, stingy atmosphere, no place to put your luggage, shoes off in common area, and the list goes on. I guess these come with the price tag. Double check of this is what you really want.

Easily the worst bed of any hostel I've ever stayed in. A tired, lumpy, battered foam mattress not even fit for camping, in a windowless room with no clothes hangers in the closets. Don't be fooled by the swimming pool either, it's the worst kept pool I've ever had the displeasure to swim in, missing tiles and plenty of places to stub your toes. I took a solo room, for greater privacy; the shower was cold and the room was impossible to ventilate.

The reception was very disagreeable, she said there was no room, I said it was available online, she said I couldn't get it without making a reservation online , I did that, and then she said the AC in the room was not working. It was very strange. She was very aggressive when she talks. Unfortunately l left , because l was not welcome there. Even though it's annoying, it's okay, I can go to another hostel. But you should go to a therapist!! because no one deserve what your behivior. You are about to explode my friend.

Wifi reception is great in common area but not so much in rooms. Staff was super friendly. If you want to wash your clothes, you will have to pay 8 Ringitts per use of washing machine.

  • 2/5 N A. 4 years ago on Google
Place wasn't quite what we expected. 1. The hostel was located in a seedy-looking and undeveloped complex/apartment, which you'd be able to tell by how the building is a little crooked, the windows in the hallways being wide open (meaning anyone can just climb up on the edge and commit suicide), the pool looking gross and poorly maintained (same goes for the gym, which is kind of sad), the ceiling having some openings (signaling random or incomplete building maintenance), the elevators looking outdated and with some nonfunctionable buttons, and the lobby looking barren and depressing. Overall, a big letdown. 2. The first room we were put in was nothing like what we saw in the photos. It was dusty, dark, depressing, and the window was facing another building, meaning no view at all. The second room was better simply because it had a bigger window and a better view, but that's it. The bathroom was disappointing in that the sink looked gross, the showerhead wasn't working properly, and the curtain that was there during the first night was off the hinges and was outright disgusting. Kitchen and dining room were eh. The housekeepers didn't know how to do their job right, which as a result, the rooms had a lot of dust and bits of other people's hairs. Overall, it was NOT what we expected and it was depressing. 3. The lobby was actually nice. Ish. They had a TV and a PS3, but apparently they were just there for display because they don't work anymore. Some of the people working there were alright, but the way they managed that dinner event thing they host every week is disappointing, and I would encourage anyone to eat out or have their own food instead of what they have. One of the staff members tried to socialize with me, but the questions he asked were invasive. Overall, unless you can get a better room with them, one night is more than enough.

Very nice decor and sky views of the city. Common area was nice with a pantry and seats to relax. Staff was friendly. Bathroom was clean. The time I stayed there was many guests, so i liked the atmosphere. Though i can imagine it can get a bit of noise during night activities cos they have regular events everyday. I stayed one night, it was a nice experience.

Quite possibly the best hostel in KL. The staff was pretty curt and not particularly inviting. The beds were nice and clean but it was awkward because most of the people at the hostel were locals who were living there. Its quite hard to walk through the dorm because everyone's wardrobes and personal belongings were blocking the way. The security is very good though because you can lock your bed.

Ohana Suits in Kuala Lumpur is truly a gem! The homey atmosphere makes it more than just a hostel – it's a delightful home away from home. The lobby's perfect view adds a touch of serenity, making every moment memorable. The staff is very welcoming, especially Alif is a great man. 💕 Highly recommend for a cozy and enjoyable stay in Malaysia!
