You don't know what you're missing. Ditch the idea that a buffet requires a massive number of dishes to get your ringgit's worth. In the case of Nipah, less truly is so much more. Nipah's claim to fame is their spread of the freshest oysters in town, along with sweet and juicy fresh prawns. And these are indeed the clear highlights - someone is always on standby ready to shuck your oysters. But I tell you, it's everything else about this place that fills my mean little heart with joy. Sort of like a centrepiece and counterpoint to the seafood is the roast beef skirt (that was served today, by the sweetest, gruffest old chef in the world!) - it alternates between lamb and beef I'm told - that is juicy soft and done just right. It sits at one end of a spread that sits across two tables - an ostensibly western section and an Asian section. The food is, frankly, pretty awesome. As I mentioned, the food is amazing but just as amazing - and the reason we also keep coming back - is the people. Everyone from the Restaurant Manager, Pn Hamsiah, to the dear old chef, Johann (sp?), to the amazing, unobstrusive but ever attentive wait staff, are the real crown jewels of this buffet experience. Just amazing. So will I be back? Dude, this is my third time already...!

Many competing hotel buffets try to spoil you for choice by giving you ever larger and endless selection of dishes until you can't decide what you want or ever feel you had it all. Nipah, true to its local namesake doesn't try to outdo others in choice but instead curate local specialties with an accompaniment of international staples which will still spoil you, yet presents the best of Malaysian character dishes to you taste buds. Their strength in the local dishes includes a multicultural fare representing the best of Malaysian food, including ulam, chicken rice, chinese fried rice, mixed vegetables, roti canai with dhall, delectable satay (this was good), curries, tandoori meats, rendang, seafood stew, steamed fish, Hainanese chicken rice, soups and assortment of kuihs. The international dishes don't disappoint as well with cold cuts and cheese, variety of rolls, oysters shucked fresh at the table, fresh seafood platter, spaghetti, roast beef, pizza, pudding and more. Downed with complementary coffee, tea or teh tarik. The ambiance of the restaurant is also well done, with natural lighting in the dining area and lovely art decor. The waiters and waitresses were also on ball to help out and keep you refilled or remove done plates. Throughout the food were kept well stocked and no one had to rush to get anything. The highlight was the head chef who was busily seen making pasta or carving meat cuts to the customers and did so with a smile. In the end you would likely get to sample most of the dish and be satisfied in the end. Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Parking: 5/5

The main thing that stood out about this place is the excellent service. The whole team was super attentive, accommodating, and very friendly. Definitely one of the best service experience I've had in a while! We went there for the dinner buffet and the food quality was good. We could taste the freshness in the ingredients. The spread is not like the bigger buffets that I've been to, but there is still plenty of choice. The outdoor BBQ section was nice, so be sure not to miss that. One thing to note is that it's a halal establishment.

Last night - 9/9/2023 - Saturday. Ist time, me & my family have buffet at this Nipah at EQ. Very impressive venue & is good for family gatherings. The servers were very professional and well-trained. Thanks to ALL the servers, the chefs at the BBQ area, and behind the food counter. They were so helpful with welcoming smile. This makes our family dinner the most memorable place. My grand daughters enjoyed their time and food too. There were many varieties of food choices. Obviously, I can not eat all of them. I would definitely come back to this Nipah with my friends & family. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After checked many of post online and the comment said it was limited food selection and really not much choice compare with others but I like the fresh oyster where you can see that are really open on the spot which really taste good fresh and sweet. Oh yeah don't forgot another sweet and fresh tiger prawns are a must try.

We celebrated our Harith Faisal Group AIA Public Takaful Top Performer May 2023 at Nipah. The buffet are wonderful, yummy and super delicious. Even the desserts are amazing. I recommended all of their menu 😂😁 I forgot to try their pizza and lasagna!! Next time I'm sure to repeat eating lunch here again with my team.

One of the better hotel buffets I have tried. While the selections of food is not alot, but most of it tastes great. The bbq was quite good too, as was the satay. The chicken rice is really really good. The only thing lacking is something cold to eat. No cold drinks except cold water, or any cold desserts like ice cream/ice. Other than that, the service is pretty good.

Pleasant place. I was delighted to drive at their spacious car park compared to many narrow ones around town. Food selection is decent. Esp love their prawn curry, roast beef, and fresh oysters (freshly open and serve upon request, which I think minimize contamination). Satays are tender, served hot upon request too. Friendly and attentive service by the chef and crew. Quite quiet on the weekday when we head over for business lunch.

Our first visit to Nipah on June 24 to celebrate our best friend’s birthday. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff and was quick to show us our table, and he remembers my name before I even mention it, which I did not expect. Mind you, not many do that. Kudos to him! We proceed to explore what is available for the day. First look was not impressive because the options are limited. I dared to say with the amount we paid, we can get more varieties from others. Nevertheless we went on and took our food. There was 2 disappointing experience which I had feedback to the manager of the day for service improvement , which I truly hope they will look into it seriously. Other than that, we had enjoyed our moments for the rest of the afternoon.

Had one of the worst poorly presented poached eggs and Latte breakfast in terms of food taste and presentation. Table service is attentive and good. After the next day I had to have a perfect 5 stars breakfast from a 5 stars hotel and restaurant the Thirty8 of Grand Hyatt KL.

Stumbled upon this during our staycation elsewhere nearby. Very pleasantly blown away with their borneo fare hari malaysia rm88 nett buffet dinner on monday night. Sarawak laksa, manok, awesome braised yee mee, ulempingess what?! I am back again, this time with a party of 4 after our fantastic experience with their Borneo cuisine Hari Malaysia celebratory experience. This time, we chose their Northernfare on a wednesday evening. We met with Chef Hafiz and the Nipah's manager Ardi and were we amazed with what experienced! First up, the beautifully baked red snapper, was so fresh and moist, with all the flavours sealed in. Then there was the awesome assam laksa...siap with the kao kao sambal petis. Cleaned that up together with the sumptious Rojak Pasembur with the Nipah special tangy gado2 like nut sauce with huge crispy seaprawns+ crabsticks. Then we tried the lemping pisang prepared by chef hafiz that we tried on the borneo fare evening. The aroma as the plate landed and it didnt last very long on the table. Then we had the tender rendang tok perak and the moist and flavourful chicken ala- utara with 3 tyoes of keropok. Next up, the best roti canai ever + the special nasi kandar style fish curry (bawal hitam mind you + lots of bendi) that disappeared within 3 minutes! Their haji samuri- beating freshly grilled beef + chicken satay with their superb peanut sauce with just the melting fats in between the skewer was really syiok! And to wash it down with freshly made-to-order teh tarik kao kurang manis only made us wanna come back yet again for their Pantai Timur fare on the upcoming monday evening with more friends. Their bread butter pudding put some of the royalclubs' famous puddings t

Having business dinner here. The buffet dinner has outdoor (grill seafood and various meats/satay) and indoor sections. I love both of them. I find their Hainanese chicken rice very good. It goes well with chicken curry, poached chicken, spicy mussels, baby octopus cooked with few types of mushrooms, etc). They started serving Christmas cakes… yummy! (Now I am hungry!)

Great selection for buffet local and western, the quality is good. The satay is only one plate per table though, sadly. The highlight for me would be the skirt steak, so juicy and tender. The rock oyster is fresh but a bit tiny.

We came for the buffet at this restaurant, the service was good enough which still committed to follow the five star hotel standard. The seafood was good but hot food limited. I was feeling cold when I wearing the cool summer outfit stay at the table for 40 min just because the air conditioning outlet is directly top of our dining table. I can clearly see the green plants next to me swinging under the air wind. At that time the table was full which I have to walk around the restaurant, that’s not comfortable for us. I hope could be better to ask the table preferences of the customers or blanket provided should be great.

A review on 23rd Apr, ramadhan 2021 lunch session. Limited choices of buffet food on display but don’t judge a book by its cover! There are plenty other make-to-order menus. Ambience, hygience, taste, freshness, quality, presentation, and customer service are excellent. We truly enjoyed dining here on our special day. Highly-recommended are the chicken satay, lamb stew, laksa goreng, grilled beef, curry mee, assorted salads, and desserts (based on what I tried). Seafood is fresh - I personally like their raw mussels dipped in Thousand Island sauce 🤤. For dessert, I truly love their baked cheesecake. Imagine a strong aroma/taste of curry mee could be replaced with the richness of cheese once you taste the cake🥰. However, the chocolate tart is a bit bitter while the pavlova base is too sweet. Good job everyone! Thank you so much for a such pleasant dining experience❤️.

We had their lunch buffet and it was very good! the service was wonderful, staff were polite and accommodating. place looks terrific, very pleasant place to bring friends or family. food was a bit hit and miss, but that's to be expected for a buffet. some standouts were their satay which were thick and delicious, perfectly cooked, be sure to request a plate or 2. they had q oyster station which was nice, though no sashimi weirdly. their local foods were actually delicious, and their chicken rice especially was surprisingly good, with a small difference in taste and color from normal. their desert corner was a standout with many selections of cakes and fruits and other local deserts. im especially a sucker for bread pudding. overall, definitely recommended

Laksa is a "visiting card" of Malaysian cuisine. Curry laksa is a thick coconut soup, the main ingredients of which are soy cheese, fish cake, clams, shrimp, chicken, mint, egg noodles, and egg. The soup is served with sambal paste.

The staff here make the place great. While staying at EQ Hotel, Kalai greeted my 3 year old daughter by name everyday we came to eat. Hamsiah organised a surprise birthday treat when she found out it’s my daughters birthday. The head chef was very jovial and friendly and he certainly livened up the atmosphere.

They say first impressions are the most lasting. With businesses closing left and right I think they'd do well to be a little less hoity toity in insisting on us handing over our full name and phone number just to dine at their establishment (this is in addition to the compulsory government-required regulation). If you learn to give zero licks about what other people want you will not succumb to the pressure. Remember, whatever people want from you is always for their benefit and never for yours.

I need coffee and bacon stat! Nipah to the rescue! You know how most hotel buffets are boring, bland and full of the same old brekky fare? Well Nipah bucks this trend with a gorgeous breakfast buffet that consists of a mix of local Malyasian delicacies and the best of Western & Asian variety. If you want a tasty omelette they have a chef ready and willing to cook one up to perfection with a smile - the best part is you can choose all your ingredients and she’ll incorporate them into the omelette for you. The coffee is self-service, but it is real ground coffee not pods, so you get a really tasty coffee and you can select what you want easily without the wait of busy staff to bring it back for you. Located on the ground floor of the EQ hotel, the Nipah restaurant has fantastic lighting and you can watch the world go by from one of the windows, or choose more private inner seating to enjoy your meal. We had such a great breakfast that the following day we came back to try the buffet lunch and we were not disappointed. Amazing curries, bbq ribs, spring rolls, and of course fried rice all got a turn … but the highlight was the staff-special satay skewers of beef and chicken with a delightful peanut sauce. Now, we’ve all had satay before, but you have not had the best of the best until you’ve tried the original Malaysian version - it is somehow echelons above the rest, in simplicity and bags of flavour! Really enjoyed our time at Nipah, our only regret is that we didn’t get to try the buffet dinner here!

Nice buffet place that serves Malaysian and Western fares. The buffet is mainly categorized into 4 sections - seafood, meats, local fare and desserts. The seafood here is super fresh, especially the oysters which are shucked right in front of you. The meat station also serves beautifully roasted lamb or beef. A must here is their satay, which is ordered and served directly to the table. This is one of the best satays in town, can’t get enough of it. Their Signature teh Tarik is also superb, being on a sugar high is totally worth it. I also absolutely love the interior of this place - modern, cosy with a sense of nostalgia. Service was good too, and staff was very helpful and attentive.

Great place to enjoy best food in town. We had our mesmerising evening here. Great ambiance, beautiful place, easily spotted, best location, nice decoration, good food, best service, friendly staff and super helpful chefs. We would like to thank all the chefs here that gave us best experience to enjoy what EQ standard are. I fall in love with the sour spices soup ala szecuan style that absolutely confort me. While their Chicken Rice... Was amazing.... One of my Chinese officemate agree and mention that this is very delicious and overreacted to it when they normally compare with famous Hainan Chicken rice they ever tried before... Kudos to the chefs. Nipah look very simple but full of flavour. The food choices are great and amazing. Helpful and friendly staff mage a different... Thanks to Ms Hamisah Rahani that gives her best to please our group that night. She made our dinner very welcome and arrange us with best place seats fits our group. This is Equivalent Quality standard that we found here in EQ... Will definitely come for more as we already missed your good people and food here

Went here multiple times since Standard Chartered Bank is in the same building. So far, nothing much to complain, lovely ambiance, good service. Food wise, A la carte or buffet, quite good. The buffet, although there were complaints on the selection / variety, to me what matters is the quality of food served. For oyster lovers, they have fresh oysters included in the buffet. And if you're a Standard Chartered card holder, you'll be entitled to get some discounts. Quite a good deal for me.

Must be honest, was very unimpressed by the breakfast buffet. The plates were not clean, had to wipe them prior to getting food, the selection was limited for the price, majority of the items were not warm. The salt shaker had old jam on it and we did not feel comfortable using it. The attention to detail needs to be focused on, had a better experience at other buffets on the trip. The staff was friendly and engaging.

Had a company event there at Nipah. Buffet spread was really bad and paid RM88 per pax. It was a waste of money, spread was limited and taste was also bad. Food wasted because it was not nice at all. By 8pm, there wasn't even top up of the buffet spread. So basically on top of the limited spread, the portions were also limited. It was really bad and I do not recommend this place. Other hotels are way better and above the EQ standards.

Discover the best of local, pan-Asian and Western cuisine with a delicious difference. Previously known as Nipah Coffee Shop at the old Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur, the brand new Nipah is nothing like the old coffee house. The same popular dishes have been recreated with a rich variety and history. From classic local Malaysian dishes like freshly made upon request roti canai and satay to Western favourites like customised pizza and pasta, we cover all bases, even decadent desserts prepared by Pastry Chef Paul Kelly. Don’t miss out on the sumptuous lunch and dinner with unlimited servings available daily! Hotel Equatorial is Kuala Lumpur's most anticipated hotel opening of the year. Formerly known as Equatorial Hotel Kuala Lumpur, it has since been stripped down completely, rebuilt and rebranded. But even with a new, shiny look, it's no stranger. One of the features that Hotel Equatorial has kept is its all-day dining restaurant, Nipah. As an excuse to properly check out the hotel in the flesh, we headed over for lunch and though we walked away with a tummy full and satisfied, we also realised Nipah is set to have one of the best buffets in Kuala Lumpur. The experience begins the moment you walk into the vicinity of the restaurant's open space. As much as we love sitting near the buffet spread, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows naturally beckoned us. This generous shower of natural lighting is only one of the many reasons why Hotel Equatorial is certified gold under Green Building Index. Despite being at the heart of busy Jalan Sultan Ismail, the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur life were left at the entrance doors. No trace of it within the hotel itself. Everywhere we looked was a hearty splash of greenery and a warm envelopment of rose gold or copper touches. So, yes, it is indeed a very cosy space and an almost endless array of food is the perfect accompaniment.

Very limited choice. Lousy local food. Desserts are tasty. Not worth the money. But hotel interior is beautiful.
