Restaurant Chinese noodle restaurant

👍 Very nice traditional Ipoh Sar Ho Fun 怡保沙河粉. Supposed taste of the 50’s. Have been not been around that long to verify but the ingredients look traditional with hor fun, shredded chicken , prawns and chives . People often mention chicken, soup, noodle, prawn, Ipoh, staff, taste, boss, good, order,

We come for the famous Ho Fun recommended by friend. We tried their dry curry chicken hor fun and curry noodle in our first visit. Food taste is average to us.

One of my favorite breakfast (or brunch) places in KL. If you do not have time to go to Ipoh to eat Ipoh Chicken noodle, try Pau Kee as their chicken noodle and homemade wonton is really delicious.

Business run by a couple of uncle and aunt, ordered the kai si hor fun, it seems really tasty…full of prawn oil above the soup, but taste bland😅instead. But i have to say their hor fun is slim and smooth, good quality. Chives韭菜 was given a lot👍. The steamed chicken was really tender, sadly their sauces didn’t bring the chicken to another level. Price is reasonable, lady boss was friendly, hygiene can be improved.

My all time favourite since it was at the original location at Ching Hai, Jalan Tong Shin. Love all.. Curry, soup and dry versions! Glad that Pau Kee still continues to satisfy me with their smooth hor fun! And chives.! Lovely!

Excellent chicken slice prawn wonton kueyteow soup, Ipoh style. Flavoursome broth without being overwhelmingly strong. Can taste the fresh ingredients and crunchy prawns in the wonton. Still being prepared by an elderly couple. Best come early morning before the crowd and cars pack the Imbi area.

We were there Monday morning. The hor fan is really nice, light and refreshing. Perfect after a weekend of heavy eating. It’s one of those simple fare which is familiar from our childhood.

#throwback1/6/2023 Backed to this place for lunch after a long long time because I have been missing my no.1 Lee Tong Kee for years. The prawn won ton here at Pou Kee is great but the sar hor fun was not as good. The shop is quite run down and not so comfortable for dine-in. Maybe I should come back for breakfast the next round.

Our favorite and had been on our listas the best Ipoh Shredded Chicken Hor Fun. It is run by a couple for over 50 years, moved to current place from Jalan Alor many years ago. Sadly, there will be no successor. Their prawn wantan must not be missed. Hor Fun is smooth and blend along well with its tasty and not heavy MSG broth. There are pictures posted on the walls of the shop visited by some famous Hong Kong celebrities. The only challenge is parking by the road and nearby the shop especially during lunch. There's a car park opposite Dorsett though and you just need to walk a little bit of distance which may not hinder us if we crave for it.

I was at Just Kitchen next.when I noticed the sign next door stating Ah Leong Curry Noodles. And I thought I must try it. Which I did and it was good, though I thought the curry was a more on the light side, not very "lemak" or not so "creamy" as such. But I did a takeaway of the Ipoh Hor Fun and it was splendid. Simple but flavourful.

I've come here every time I'm back in KL since I was younger and my parents first brought me here to eat. Literally one of my favourite meals in KL. Simply done incredibly well and doesn't break the bank (the meal in my photo was RM18.30). Their wantan are morsels of prawn filled goodness and the noodles are cooked to perfection. Family run, efficient and friendly service. Love this place and hope they continue for many years to come.

This was my first visit to this eatery with an order of shredded chicken flat rice noodle soup and prawn wonton. The noodle portion was small. If not for the additional wonton, I would still be hungry. Taste-wise was just mediocre.

Today is the 4th day of Chinese New year and first day for Pau Kee restaurant after holiday break. The rice noodle is smooth and goes well with either soup, dried or curry version. The bean sprout is the crunchy, juicy, chubby variety and fits the smooth poached chicken. The restaurant opens from 7.30am to 3pm daily. Prices are reasonable RM45 for 4 dishes.

This is the dry version of Ipoh Hor Fun at a very unassuming little shop off Jalan Imbi. Atmosphere is somewhat like a traditional kopitiam. Seats are limited, however there is a aircon seating indoor. This place accepts cash only.

This review was done 6 months ago. It is best to come on weekends as the streets are not so busy. Pau Kee is one of the handful establishments that remain true to Kai Si hor fun. The rest, namely Lee Tong Kee & Chan Tong Kee, are no longer in operations. The hor fun is smooth & silky. However, the broth is a bit weak and doesn't have the oomph. Toppings were minimalistic ... The prawn & meat dumpling or siu kow was flavorful & fresh. It would have tango with my taste buds if the size were a little bit bigger, whereby the juices of the meat oozes out to give it a delightful rhapsody. The staff & service were great. Polite, courteous, and offer suggestions to complement the meal. The food order was slow as Uncle was the only one doing the preparations. Dumplings came 15 minutes after the drink which took about 5 minutes. The hor fun came 10 minutes later after the dumplings. Together with a glass of Teh C kosong, the bill came up to RM 18.60. Despite that, I gave it a 3 star rating for food and a 4 star rating for the services of the staff manning the air-conditioning seating area 16/06/23 Sister in law's last item on the food list of food she wanted to have before flying back to the US was Kai See Hor Fun. Went there almost 12 noon. Found a car park in front of the medical clinic. Sat on table #23, a non air-conditioning table right under the nose of the owners and staff so that they will not forget my order. BAD MISTAKE on my part. Lady boss took my orders of my eat in selection and take away orders. I ordered a large bowl of hor fun soup and a portion of chicken and beansprouts. I asked for breast meat. For takeaway, 3 packets of kai see horfun soup and 2 portions of chicken. She took the order without writing it down. She repeated - 3 packets hor fun, and 2 chicken to go. I reminded her of the eat in order. I ordered an iced Chinese tea. The ice disappeared fast as the tea was warm. I noticed that those who came later had their orders first. A couple who sat next to me at table #24, changed their seating to #32 and she can remember that. 30 minutes later, her staff who sent the orders out, noticed me sitting like a zombie. She walked closer to her lady boss and asked her about my order. She remembered. My order came in 5 minutes with the noodles first. The portion of chicken thigh came 3 minutes later. I reminded the staff of the chicken breast. She said they don't sell chicken breast. I guess it is saved as kai see for the noodles. But lady boss didn't bother to give me that information! I finished the meal quickly, for I was afraid that the takeaway orders would take some time too. They were packing it after I finished my meal. I wanted to pay the staff but she said Lady boss will "kira." I was holding a RM 100 in my hand waiting to pay. Tick tock, no lady boss. It took 15 minutes for the staff to remind her. She then asked another Chinese guy to do the counting of the amount on his head mentally. Note:- Don't you think it's funny that the staff has to prompt or remind the lady boss of her "job." Lady boss ever so busy with the prepping for the husband (so that he won't run out of it). Her back is always facing the customers. She blanched the beansprouts, the chicken whole leg, the dumplings, etc. Actually, a staff could be taught to do it but she wants to work as a staff and not the boss. Maybe it's their "family trade secret." On the other hand, the staff is free to "act" like a boss to remind the owners if the customers of a certain table has paid for their meals or not. After 1 hour of observation and waiting. Came to my table, holding a round plastic tub with change. He said RM 58.60. NO receipt and the menu were without any prices written on it. Gave him RM 60 & got RM 2 back when I handed to him some coins. I don't think I want to come here again .... I will try out the last "thoong kee" in ttdi and maybe have a much better alternative than this Slowest restaurant in town!

Looks better than it taste. Hor fun was ok, but the soup was bland, only can taste saltiness! U won’t be able to taste the prawn in the soup. Dry hor fun was just ‘salty’. Small portions and expensive for its size.

The Kai si hor fun really meh here. Should try the shop nearby, somewhere in pudu, called Guang Ji, they serve the best kai si hor!

Chicken hor fun is excellent. As good as hor fun from ipoh. Well price is expensive but it is at the heart of kl. Worth a try.

Located just across our hotel and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t check it out and glad we did. We came here around 9am and the coffee shop already filled with people. Love the bean sprouts and chicken hor fun just like the one we had in Ipoh! This place is definitely worth a visit if you miss Ipoh food! Pretty authentic!

Good services. The curry noodle was good and reminded me the curry noodle I was having in "Pasar" when I was youth. The boiled chicken and beansprouts were so so and not the signature. Overall worth to go. Price is reasonable (comparing with the pork mince noodle located at nearby which is pricey)

Having lunch here, the noodle is taste overall ok, portion is moderate however small size noodle portions is a bit too small. And price is still acceptable in KL area, Big size noodle RM10. However when peak hours need wait quite long and sometimes need wait for seat. Parking is hard to find nearby.
