😠 Quality has gone down A LOT in the last year. 👎🏻 I got their premium kaisen don and some of the sashimi smelt VERY fishy… and the salmon slices tasted off. 😖 Told the waitress and she wasn’t very helpful or that concerned about it. This place used to be my go-to Japanese spot in this area, but t... People often mention Japanese, sushi, quality, fresh, good, sashimi, service, salmon, Japan, taste,

Everything was great! Clean, fresh Japanese food. The servers are friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were served very quickly. The ambiance is also excellent; even if the tables are in close proximity to each other, it didn't feel like a food court where it can be too noisy. It's also not as pricey as other Japanese restaurants with the same quality of food. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here and we'll definitely come back again and bring our friends. One possible downside for some people is that because of limited seating, you really have to call and make a reservation otherwise, you might have to wait a while before getting a seat.

Before the pandemic, I used to go Japan quite often for business and I loved the sushi there. Apart from some notable omakase place, pretty hard to find similar sushi restaurants that reminds me of Tokyo. This is one place that actually fits the bill (food quality, great sake and service) and evidently by the many Japanese patron it has. A must try and I definitely will visit again

A tiny establishment that serves pretty authentic Japanese foods hidden in the corner of Plaza Mont Kiara. Orders are done over the tablet, making the service pretty good and quick. The sashimi is exceptionally fresh and goes well with fresh wasabi. My favourite hot dish is definitely the mini udon, which is very wholesome on a Christmasy night. The tempura was very light and so so crispy. Overall a perfect meal. Reservation is a must because there is very limited seating

Lunch is good value for money and they provide weekend as well. We ordered lunch nigiri (30RM only) and lunch kaisen barachirashi (30RM only) with some alacalt sushi. we are full but only 180RM. you have expensive choise, like kiwami nigiri (180RM) but I feel more like reasonable if you order alacalt style. the taste is good considering this price. We visited on monday lunch time but the table are almost full.

Went here after a few years break (I left KL), the quality is still very high with big generous slices of premium fish. Definitely a place to eat tuna

Seated at the counter table, I was happy that the chef serving me is Japanese. That usually gives some indication of quality and authenticity (hopefully). The menu has many options from below $100 to few hundred ringgit. I chose the omakase set ($1xx) that comes with chawanmushi, soup and deep fried prawn head. The ingredients are fresh. The deep fried prawn is very tasty too. My only complaint is that the size of the sushi is too big. This goes to show that the products have been tailored to fit local customer’s preference. When I put the sushi in my mouth, I had a mouth full every time and it down graded my experience. I would still come back if I’m in the area and I’m desperate for sushi. P.S. service was good

Super satisfying dinner at Sushiya! One of the highest I rated so far. > Staff service: 9.3/10 (friendly staff and master chef is very professional) > Food quality: 9/10 > Food taste (soft shell crab don): 8/10 (love the sauce) > Food taste (salmon sashimi): 9/10 (thick and very nice!) > Food taste (sweet egg): 9.3/10 (gosh the after taste just came after you start to chew in the mouth) > Cleanliness: 9/10 Note: Price is slightly on the higher side. If you want quality food and sushi with comfortable environment, look no further. Recommended.

Very good Japanese food. Sushi is very well made. The rice is Japanese rice, nicely flavoured. Sashimi is fresh and pieces are cut in just the right thickness. Best to call and make reservations ahead, walk-ins are turned away. Dining time is 1.5hrs but the chef and team are so efficient, we were done and ready to go in an hour. Price point is a little higher than the usual shopping mall Japanese fare but well worth the money and you walk out satisfied.

Amazing sushi made by skilled Japanese chef, with decades of experience. No complaints on any of their menu items, they are consistently delicious and fresh. With frequent patronage from Japanese expats, it shows the quality and service that you can expect here. Only downside is limited seats, hence it’s better to make a reservation beforehand.

Very fresh seafood used on the nigiri. Tempura was a wonderful delight. However, for the price , the rice used to make the sushi and nigiri is very disappointing. Honestly it’s a shame because it could have been better if more thought was put into the rice. I would also suggest them to provide their customers with real chopsticks instead of disposable wooden ones which we have to crack open ourselves. Perhaps the restaurant should also consider hiring staff who don’t sound imposing and condescending. One of the waitresses made everyone uncomfortable with her attitude and fake Japanese English accent. (Not sure if she’s really Japanese) but it was really just her attitude that hit a sour note. The whole dining experience was affected.

All I can say is that everything was top notch! The otoro, chutoro and salmon toro were all superb!! Thick and luscious cut, the salmon slides into your throat and otoro glitters your lips like a natural lip balm! Everything was extremely fresh and speed of service is commendable! Grilled yellowtail collar was superbly done, crunchy on the outside while it maintains juicy inside!!

Imagine if you’ve been craving for authentic sushi restaurants just like the ones you found at the market street in Tokyo or Osaka. Sushiya is like a little piece of Japan that hits you hard in the feelings, bringing back memories of pure food discovery of Japan. Their nigiri quality of fish and the cut thickness was exactly just like the ones I had in Japan. Price wise wasn’t that sky high like any pretentious omakase in KL. It was right about or just slightly higher than sushi eaten in Japan. If you want to experience what real sushi is but at the same time not paying omakase prices, sushiya is the place to be.

This review is meant for the outlet in 1U. My second visit. A great pleasure to have known Chef Kenny, who was absent during my 1st visit. A true veteran Japanese chef who knows everything about Japanese ingredients. Not an outstanding meal overall, but, an outstanding chef who strives to offer his possible best 👍👍👍

Easy to book via phone call. Easy parking in plaza mont kiara. Nice restaurant ambience. Order via tablet system was simple enough to navigate. Best to reserve beforehand as all tables appeared full when I left. Food wise, everything was well made and fresh. Engawa don could use a bit more portion of engawa inside. Noticed a few Japanese customers around which is always a good sign for Japanese cuisine. All in all, a quite satisfactory meal. Bill came up to about 380 for 4 ppl which is a little on the high side, but suitable for my party of fairly light eaters.

Had a very nice and generous bowl of premium kaisenchirashi. The raw seafood is very fresh and premium quality. We shared tempura, unagi, unagi roll, and grilled amberjack collar. All were very well prepared, with good quality ingredient. Portion is reasonably generous. I think is a nice family restaurant for casual premium quality sushi and sashimi or even cooked seafood meal.

Follow my insta @janefoodbaby for more!! HIDDEN <HIDDEN GEM> Lol walked to Starbucks few times also never realized this Japanese restaurant beside it. Everything also seems to be speakeasy these days 😜 We were quite lucky to get a seat by the bar without any reservation. But I see people who came after us (and in bigger groups) had to queue for quite some time. It's quite a small restaurant, with social distancing SOP in place, they really can't accommodate that many pax. I had so much fun sitting by the bar watching the Japanese chef preparing food, esp when he sliced the sashimi. Overall, the service here was efficient and great! Chef even asked us a couple times if the food was good (maybe he got too self conscious with me constantly staring at him slicing sashimi haha). Order was done through an iPad, which serves the purpose of being "contactless". Food/Price: 1. Salmon sashimi 5pc (MYR 35) - Just look at those thick and fat slices of salmon sashimi!!! ugh I can still imagine it melting in my mouth. Btw not sure if there's stg wrong with me, but I was pretty obsessed with their wasabi. 🤣I think this is a pretty standard price in KL for salmon sashimi. One can argue that Mitasu can give you 10-20x more with the same price hahaha 2. Ume assorted nigiri (MYR 60) - 8pc for this price I think it's damn worth it!!! Starting from the Left row - red snapper, salmon, squid, maguro (bluefin tuna); Right row - tobiko gunkan, saba fish, ebi, tamago. Out of all, squid is the worst cause it's tasteless (not to say I didn't expect it). Saba fish was surprisingly good (slightly salty), though I had second thoughts about eating saba fish raw. All these while I only ate grilled saba hahaha. Maguro also one of my favs. 3. Tempura don (MYR 30) - Light and crispy batter & generous amount of tempuras given. The amount of rice probably too much for us. I enjoyed the food here and will definitely return whenever I'm in the area. But I think I'll try and get a slot for Mitasu before coming back here again just to refresh my memory on the taste/freshness of salmon & tuna sashimi at Mitasu. At this price point, I'd definitely prefer this place over... Rakuzen or Sushi Zanmai 😜

Located beside HSBC. Quite easy to miss if you are not looking for it. Friendly service by the team. The foods are delicious and fresh. Service was quite fast and prompt. The price is reasonable for the quality. Would highly recommended this restaurant.

We really like this traditional Japanese restaurant especially the freshly prepared sushi and smoked duck salad. The grilled mackerel was superb too! Really nice!

Staff was very friendly and the chefs were fun too, if you sit at the counter seating, they serve the food directly to you and you can watch them prepare it fresh. The food is amazing and fresh, albeit quite pricy. I would strongly recommend this place for a special day or even to bring a special someone. :D

Always best choice to be here. I can feel sushi as movie scene in Japan. there are many Japanese to have dinner and drinks. My wife's choice is sushiya special maki and sashimi. Price is bit high, but it is reasonable to see quality of food. Recommend!!

We ate here for lunch. have to book in advance because the place is full during lunch. Its a good place for premium japanese food. Lunch menu is affordable. Fresh ingredients. The sushis were great. Just like in Japan. Some items on the menu are also available on Grabfood.

This place used to be my go-to Japanese spot in this area, but this was my final straw, especially cause the food is not cheap here too.
