Fine dining restaurant that prides itself on using local ingredients to create local flavours. They call themselves omakase for the local tongue and it's lovely to get an elevated gastronomic experience that celebrates the rich traditions of Malaysia. They have entirely new menu every few months and we were the first to try their Chapter 4: Trio. Every ingredient is served in threes: 3 types of corn, 3 types of seafood, etc. This means by the end of the night we've tried 15 different types of dishes! The portions are small to make that manageable. Every dish is imaginative, carefully conceived of to incorporate local traditions: eg eggs with butter foam and kind of kaya at the bottom for "breakfast" or polenta cake made in the tradition of radish cake etc. It seems everything is designed to evoke nostalgia, with an added twist. Every dish is extremely enjoyable and it's so fun to hear it explained with so much detail (not just the usual rote repetition that you sometimes get at fine dining restaurants), including the rationale and process behind it, you can tell it's crafted with a lot of care. One thing I will say though, I can't say any one dish makes me go "wow I wish I could have it again!" The service is immaculate. We felt very well taken care of without it feeling intrusive. All the utensils are beautiful. The place is situated at the row of shops outside Pavilion Bukit Jalil. You can park directly at block H and take the lift that gets you straight to the restaurant, really convenient

Michelin-star worthy Omakase with a focus on Malaysian flavours+ingredients. All courses were immaculate. Well balanced, deftly constructed (petai powder without the bitterness?!) and jovially explained. I look forward to more creativity from the dynamic duo.

The creation of good food using Malaysian Ingredients. I learn to appreciate the many many many ingredients local to Malaysia that were seldom mentioned or discussed in any food arena. Kudos to the chefs for bringing Malaysian food to the next level. I dined with them during “Chapter 4: Trio”. Me and my family enjoyed dishes from “The Sea” the most. They explain in detail each and every course in a very interesting way - it was truly an experience that I would recommend to everyone who enjoys unique food creation/Malaysian flavours. The 15-course meal eventually took almost 2.5 hours! Thank you to the Eat and Cook team and keep it up!

Food was unique and the ambience had a contemporary/open kitchen setting. It was not your usual uptight fine dining. Comfortable and the chefs made us even more comfortable as they were really friendly with us. I love how everything was infused with local ingredients and who knew you could have everything 'local' but yet taste so interesting. #ProudtobeMalaysian

I had a wonderful time dining here last evening. My own belated birthday dinner - months belated, thanks to the lockdown. Initially, I had plan to come by in May but I am glad I managed to make a reservation this weekend. The food was very good and each dish was tasty and plated nicely. The use of local ingredients were done creatively and Chef Lee was very patient explaining the nuance of each dish. I had opted for my meal to go with a wine pairing session and their sommelier, Agnel was very professional and managed my expectations well. I also observed the entire team work in perfect unison - prepping, delivering and clearing dish after dish. Honestly, 120 mins allocated for the entire course was pure gastronomic bliss! Will come back again when there is a new menu for sure.

We had high expectations for the new fusion fine dining establishment in the outlet area of KL called 五加汉. Unfortunately, our experience left us disappointed with some dishes that served. The raw, chewy textures, unbalanced flavors, and lack of direction in the culinary creations were notable shortcomings. While we appreciate the staff's efforts to impress us, it seems that the execution fell short of the good ideas and motivations. It's worth noting that bringing innovative concepts to reality often requires time and experience. At this point, I would not recommend this place for your time and expenses. Food + Pairing: $$$$

Finest of dinings, much represented and the food was exquisitely delicious. I had the 5 course but my my, it felt like 15 with the amount of flavors. I thought the seating area resembling a council or parliament was absolutely wonderful. What a jolly good show that was, and mark my words, I will be back!

Pretty good dining experience at eat and cook where they infuse traditional Malaysian food into each course. Service was really good and the chefs took the time to explain each dish in detail which I really appreciate. Cucur udang course - would’ve been perfect if the prawn was cleaned properly. The intestial tract was still visible and the prawn wasn’t fully cooked, not sure if that was intended Beef charsiu was slightly on the tougher side. The beef tendon was my least favorite dish as it felt a bit like deep fried jelly, didn’t really have much taste. Would definitely come back to try the next chapters

Visited in Apr 2023 Wanted to try out this place ever since it started featuring on Asia’s top 50/100 list. I’d say that the preparations were quite creative and kudos to the chefs to explaining the inspiration and preparation behind every dish in detail. I like restaurants like Eat & Cook with chef’s table seating concept as it allows you to see the preparations and effort which goes into every dish. The menu which was ongoing when we visited was the ‘Childhood Memories’ menu. My honest opinion is that quite a few of the menu items lacked a bit of flavour and taste which would be expected of such a well-known and ranked place. It’s possible that the previous menus were better, but the Childhood Memories menu lacked that ‘oomph’. The 2 things in the menu which I thought were really good were (a) the main course items of lobster and the Wagyu beef tongue, and (b) dessert items. So, in my view, while the ‘Childhood Memories’ menu gets full marks for creativity, local ingredient sourcing, experimentation and presentation, the flavours didn’t really match up to what would be expected of a top 100 Asia restaurant. Therefore from a recommendation perspective, I’d say that it is a place worth trying once as the experience and service is quite good. But I would not recommend it as a must go place in KL for anyone visiting.

Very impressed by the founders who went to a local culinary college in Malaysia and wanted to focus on creating dishes with focusing on local ingredients. They have different chapters and change their menu after a certain period. We tried their Chapter 5 (Dec 2022) By the time you read this, they would have moved on to another menu/chapter but regardless, the quality of the food was fantastic. The food is rich in flavour but very balanced. We will definitely be going back again. The place only has 1 private table that seats 6 and the rest of the seats are placed around the open kitchen where you can see how the food is prepared a d interact with the chefs. That makes talking to friends more difficult especially with a larger group so if you're planning on a social get together, book early for that single table for 6.

Had my very first fine dining experience here and I’m so glad we came here! The chefs and all the staffs were so friendly and welcoming! They are so passionate in even the littlest thing they do. We had “The Journey” and the chef noticed that I didn’t eat my beef course and they actually cooked a separate fish dish for me 😭 “we don’t want you to leave this place not feeling full” 😭😭😭 the chef said! And I saw how the head chef was so patient with his other chefs too. I was observing how everyone in the kitchen interacted with one another and I saw how the seniors were really giving the junior’s opportunity to shine! It’s really a great dining experience. I especially like how they were not trying to “be like someone else” but were using local ingredients and play with the flavour using their creativity! Absolutely loved the evening! Thank you, everyone in the house tonight, from the chefs to the waitress and waiters! You guys weren’t just serving food, I felt the love and passion too! ❤️ (they didn’t ask us to write a review. Normally restaurants like to ask us to write review hahaha but this time I genuinely just want to write one for them!!)

Have been wanting to try this outlet! It was amazing from the service to the food. Everything was just so scientific , the way they prep their dishes and each ingredient to make it taste exactly like local flavours. I would say the effort they made was worth coming to try even though I am not a fan of Malaysian cuisine. Service crews were super attentive too!

Amazing food experience in KL. Our "journey" through seafood from Malaysia was incredible. We ate 17 dishes most of them with seafood. A lot of creativity combining Malaysia cocine with other international dishes. Chef was great. Kudos to the Staff and other cookers. Probably one of the best tasting menu I have had in years.

My first dine in since early May21, with good reviews i found myself at Eat & Cook. What a start to continue my foodie journey. Eat & Cook is a fine dining omakase cuisine with local ingredients and flavours. I always love open kitchen concept as you can enjoy the finesse in preparation of the dishes and engagement from the chefs in explaning the type of dishes & ingredients that plates it. Helmed by 2 talented young chefs presenting a delightful journey of flavorful dishes involving playful creativity using infused local ingredients without boundaries. Come onboard the ride which last 2 hrs 10 mins of food experience. # support local restaurants # support local talents

This is my second time going for dinner at this restaurant. The execution and choice of local meat and vegetables are truly inspiring to the palate! My comment would be if there is a already a menu presented to us - it may be better to have it all stated in the menu what each dish is about instead of the chef explaining each dish to us and that means the food will not be piping hot. As for the chef table - it’s wonderful to see the chefs at work. My comment would be to change the table top surrounding the chef at work to a better type of wood so that when we take photos of the glorious food, it shows up more elegantly especially when the plating is so intricate and precise 🥰

Nice to see fine dining establishments like this popping up in Malaysia and pushing the boundaries of what is a fusion pot of Malaysian cuisine - it’s certainly about time! Loved the way they incorporated local ingredients into their traditional dishes with a twist. Definitely refreshing to the palate than your usual modern European cuisine. Service was great and along with the food served, they are deserving of a Michelin star. It’s a shame they missed out this year on one in 2022. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for them the following year, and I look forward to visiting them again next time I’m in KL.

I thoroughly enjoy visiting Eat & Cook when I visit KL-the menu changes regularly so it’s a fun place to come back to. At Eat & Cook you’re able to sit at the kitchen and interact with the talented, friendly chefs and staff who are passionate about the richness of Malaysia’s ingredients and experimenting with the traditions of local cuisine to create sumptuous and creative new dishes.

I had a very unforgettable dinner at 3rd Nov 2021 , when I step in the Restaurant was make me feel so excited, totally can't wait for the dinner start. I very satisfied with all the food and make me feel so incredibly Malaysia ingredient can be so creative. Every food/dessert served finished by me, don’t look it’s just small small portion size but totally 200% full in the beautiful night. Here I would like to give a big thumb up to all the Chef & Team. Thank you for making a chance to let us fall in love in Malaysia’s food again. And all the staff and Chef was so friendly, they explained and Introduced every single food before we eat and make us understanding what we are eating! And you can choose English or Chinese version haha It’s so professional & experiences. ❤️

A duo of young talented chefs from Perak that really understand flavours. Their philosophy of elevating local ingredients onto a dish clearly marks their ambition to spearhead Malaysian cuisine into a whole new level. Though this new kid on block has just entered the progressive food scene in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, they certainly have the potential to be so much more and it’s simply a matter of time before the culinary world knows their name. Keep it up guys. I’ll be back for more and rooting for you guys.

I think there is no one ever have the same rare experience like me in this restaurant, because until the 8th course, me and my gf found out that there is some NATURAL ingredient in our meal (COOKED WORM). At first, I found out that there was a worm in my Cai Zhang course, so I asked the waitress to check for me. They then immediately took away my dish and replaced a glass of wine for me as apologies. However, afterwards, my gf found out that her Cai Zhang course has short hair in her dish again. I was then thinking that they were going to replace me with a glass of wine again, which it really happened for the second time. 😅 I think this is the rare incident ever happen to me in this fine dine, but overall, it's actually not bad lah. But I'm not sure whether this Asian title course isn't taste as I like, or they're not maintaining at the level after getting the Michelin recommended award. And the price growth higher as from last year and isn't taste like my friend said. I'm really not sure am I going to give it a try on second chance, but the day at least still won't ruin my mood lah. Maybe luckily they have very good manner service, coz I'm very emphasize on that.

Eat and cook was truly a culinary experience that sent me back to my young days and my nice early mornings (when I used to wake up). This menu was specially made for Gastro-month to celebrate them getting into the Michelin Guide(I think). So if you go from July 2023 onwards the menu will probably be different. They have a lab as well so they probably update menus pretty often. Eat and Cook truly inspires you as a cook and an eater. You can see the teams hard-work and time put in to make sure every dish had the right tastes and experience coupled with it. There were many moments where the food sparked conversations with the chefs and brought about common grounds and relatable experiences. And that was something personal. My partner and I left feeling like we were at a friend's place. As a south indian singaporean, it was heartwarming to see Idli on the menu and they had captured the tastes of an idly coupled with chutney(uni curry butter). I could go on about all the dishes but you probably won't be able to taste them out of Gastro-month as the menu changes. Everything was an experience indeed and an enjoyable one. One of our highlights was the Angel toast w signature kaya(Roti bakar w eggs cake) with cham(hawker centre milk coffee + milk tea mix) Would definitely recommend and would definitely go again.

A must visit if you are tired of seeing chefs playing safe and have been eating what you are used to over and over. I visited Eat & Cook during Childhood Memories and also ordered non-alcoholic pairing & loose leaf tea. I was a bit disappointed with the non-pairing option as it didn't pair much with the meal. There were 4 kombucha. Using NON kombucha brand and kombucha made in house didn't have flavour characteristic that could cover 2-3 menus that were very different. To me, it was more like Kombucha tasting than 'pairing'. Also, I couldn't finish some of the dish as it was too bitter for my palate. However, I still loved the dishes. They were creative, different, and adventurous. My only downside was the main course didn't get served til the last 25 minutes of the booked time 😱 The kitchen was getting rushed, the front of house was super anxious cleaning plates as fast as they could. As a diner, I also felt anxious just because it was too obvious everyone had to rush. I was the first person who got out of the restaurant and that was already 15 min after when the course was supposed to be finished. ⚠️ There's a little gap at the entrance. I almost broke my toe. Thankfully only my toe nail got chipped. Just be careful if you are not wearing covered shoes. Probably better to visit with covered shoes. ⚠️ From KL to the restaurant, the traffic is VERY congested. It took me over an hour for 20 min distance. Give yourself extra 30 minutes, be on time, start meal on time, you will be fine. I spent over 700 RM. Although there's a risk of having a meal rushed towards the end, it's still worth a visit. "Just indulge, don't doubt."

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly especially ShiYan. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers satisfied is their main priority. Food is awesome and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

So on one hand, I want to sing my praises about everything, and on the other hand I want people to just experience this for themselves. It’s more than worth the discovery. You can tell the chefs and the team are passionate, the service is attentive but not intrusive, the ambience is understated yet absolutely welcoming - no pretensions here - and the food is, well, a locavore’s dream come true. I’ve still got a hankering for the coconut cloud and crab shell panacotta, but you’ll find your favourites! Enjoy!

Great Dining experience all around! staff were attentive, with the head chefs introducing each dish in their tasting menu, patiently explaining their modern interpretation of traditions Malaysian favourites. We found the Ikan Bakar to be a standout and especially liked their creative use of less prominent Malaysian culinary ingredients such as Budu and sayur manis throughout their dishes. They change their menu every 3 months or so, and we look forward to be back soon for their next tasting menu.

Booked dinner for my husband's birthday. Food was great and ambiance is very nice! I like watching our food being prepared in front of us too. Since it's omakase style, you won't know what you'll be getting (to eat) beforehand but rest assured that every fish will taste really good! Service was really amazing; they contacted me beforehand to ask if we had any allergies or if we could eat certain meats a week before our booking. During dinner, our plates and cutlery were cleared immediately after each course and our drinks were constantly replenished. Very attentive staff! The chef explained each dish as they were brought out to us and made the experience feel like it was catered just for us. My husband is allergic to shellfish so his dishes were altered and different from mine. Definitely will come again another time! I told my parents about this place and they were very interested to try as well.

The food was really bad – the flavors were confusing and didn't go well together. The raw salad was the start of a disappointing lunch, and grilled squid didn't make sense. The oyster was gross, and the abalone was too tough to eat. The only good thing was the well-cooked aged duck, but it lacked flavor. The canele was too dense and wet. Even though I'm not big on desserts, I was happy when it came because it meant the meal was finally over. Yes, the lunch was a real struggle and it was a waste of money. I left the restaurant very disappointed; they don't deserve a 1 Michelin star or the title of Asia’s Best Restaurant. I do not recommended this place at all.
