Great place for a sight seeing visit. Beautiful big castle, great view. Also there are two different museums inside and we enjoyed both - Also with children. History and miniature museum.

A visit to the Plassenburg is definitely a recommendation when visiting the upper part of the Franconian region. It is an impressive facility and the view is overwhelming. and the tin figure museum, well, if you like it, you can visit it too.

The castle can be reached with a city bus or on foot (in about 30-40 minutes) through narrow and picturesque streets and alleyways from main train station. Once at the top, you can have a nice view of pretty little town of Kulmbach. There's museum, a souvenir shop and a restaurant in the courtyard. Also, you get public WiFi.

Was unable to go inside but a fascinating place to walk around and look at without much legwork. You can drive up into the arcade, but unsure the parking situation on weekdays.

Incredible beautiful place. You can take long walks. A lot of forest around.

Nice castle, with a pleasant walkup through a sidehill park. My 81 year old Mom did it and liked the exercise, so it's no big deal, or you can take the bus, as parking at the top is limited. Free access to it's Renessance courtyard.

The view from the top is beautiful. The castle also houses four lovely museums.

Only worth visiting if you want the view over Kulmbach. We have seen better. There is no parking at the castle. Roads are either one-way or lead nowhere if you follow Google Maps. Signage in town insufficient. You can do a self-guided tour to the first floor army museum and can see one room with an ancient bed plus the church. It cost about €4.50. A guided tour includes another floor. The walk on foot to the castle is 22° incline, very steep. Recommend to skip castle. There are better ones.

Parking: free parking in the castle itself and along the right hand side of the turnaround. Attraction: worth a walk around the outside of the castle (20min) the museums inside are unimpressive. Cute town worth visiting but castle can be skipped

Really beautiful place. You can enter for free. The best was the view from the city. Recommended

You can find a classic German castle with an extremely gorgeous view here.
