One of the top restaurants in Gothenburg. Simple interior, great food and the prices are very good too! Book well in advance to get a spot. It's hard even in weekdays. Try a cocktail and focus on the starters instead of the mains. Three starters or four if you are very hungry. I've been 5 or 6 times and love it as much every time!

Beautiful, family-run Vietnamese restaurant which is probably the best of its kind in Gothenburg. The food is not only delicious but also given a thorough introduction by the staff. The internals are simple and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Note that you should book a table well in advance (several weeks) since it can be very hard to get a seating otherwise, this place is very popular.

Undoubtedly the best Vietnamese food I've had in Gothenburg. Their menu is very extensive yet simple. The service is really good and they even put in the effort of recommending and explaining the dish once it's served. Will definitely go back and recommend it for others

Tried the vegan version of the Pho Bo here for dinner, solo on a Saturday night. The noodles were well cooked and held an interesting texture. Pleasantly surprised there were 2 types of tofu. Yum. Comes with optional condiments and sauces. The price portion ratio is questionable, but otherwise I'd also highly recommend the vegan Summer Rolls. Really liked the skin, the fillings were delicious. Probably one of the best I've had thus far. Comparatively, the homemade lemonade wasn't something to write home about, still, it wasn't overly sour, and came topped with a small slice of pineapple. The restaurant offers a great city atmosphere. Would suggest booking a table beforehand. They do have some seats available at the bar. Staff were friendly and diligent, came across with a genuine care about food allergies.

Excellent Vietnamese restaurant The food is fresh and very nicely presented. The staff is very very friendly, helpful and service minded. It is a long time I haven't been in such a nice restaurant. I really appreciated to be your guest and recommend this restaurant firmly to everyone. Keep it up. It will be better to make a reservation around 6 and 8 pm .

The food is absolutely 12 out of 10, Its our third visit in a row and each time it’s delicious. Everything is fresh and well balanced. Additionally the experience is topped by fantastic hospitality of the owners who explain each dish. Easy to say best Vietnamese food we have ever had and we strongly recommend it with all our heart. ♥️

Stopped by this restaurant with my family and parents. I was a bit suprised of the very nice, modern and well decorated restaurant (not what I expected for a standard Vietnamese in Sweden). The waitress was very kind and answered all the questions we had and described all the dishes when served and how to eat them. We had the duck bun, summer rolls, banh mi, and mango salad for starters, then pho, curry and a meat and rice bowl. Loved the starters, all felt very fresh with good ingredients, the banh mi was good but couldn't shake off the feeling that the bread was a frozen baguette that they just warmed. Mango salad felt like a Vietnamese version of papaya salad, fresh, spicy and tasty with the nuts. Out of the mains, the pho and meat bowl was the best, curry nothing special. I would really recommend this place to anyone looking for good Vietnamese food.

We had a wonderful meal and they handled my gluten free needs and my friends nut allergy perfectly. The food was elegantly presented and extremely tasty and staff were so friendly. Would visit again.

Cozy, family-run restaurant. For the 1st time we tried Vietnamese kitchen, liked it there! We mostly enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee indeed, preparation and the way they serve it was nice, the taste of the coffee also was different, something between Turkish coffee and espresso, a must try l think. Only recommendation is that l prefer all the ingredients in the plate being edible, they can choose edible flowers instead of asking to remove from the plate before eating 🫢🌸

Customer experience in terms of service: 10/10 Customer experience in terms of quality of food: 10/10 Customer experience in terms of taste of food: 10/10 Customer experience in terms of knowing about Vietnamese culture: 10/10 I choose this place to celebrate my partner’s birthday and i must say that it was the best decision i made. We are vegan and i must say that they have really good vegan options which won’t disappoint me. Rather they have researched well enough to make vegan dishes tasty and delicious 🤤 and i feel no lesser than other dishes too.

What an amazing place! We were seated quickly on a Saturday night with no booking, even though the place was busy. We ordered vegan summer rolls, papaya salad, bao buns and two phos. All the food tasted amazing and the service was incredibly attentive and explained all the vegan options for us, Really authentic restaurant with our server telling us the food is cooked by their family with recipes coming from their villages in Vietnam. We could not fault any part of it. A spicy pho was exactly what we both needed to warm us up on a freezing cold evening in Gothenburg! Thank you x

The restaurant was rated 4.6 on Google. Well, sometimes the ratings don't lie. I'll give it a 5-star. I'm happy to have discovered this amazing place and would love to recommend it to all my friends. Vegetarian/Vegan options are quite amazing. We find the Appetizers, tea, coffee and main course to be delightful. The staff is very hospitable and friendly. Glad that I chose Restaurant Vi Viet to try out Vietnamese cuisine for the very first time. Reserve a table a day or two prior to your visit since the place is many people's favorite, it could get quite full. The space is well managed though. Restroom - clean. Pets were allowed too.

If you're looking for an authentic and delicious Vietnamese dining experience, look no further than this family-owned gem. The team here is truly passionate about their food, and it shows in every dish they serve, including the vegan options. The chefs take great care in selecting the freshest ingredients, and their attention to detail is evident in the beautiful presentation of each plate. The waiters are incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the food they are serving. They are happy to help you navigate the menu. We really connected with one of the waiters, and she gave us excellent recommendations for other restaurants and cafes in Gothenburg. We even bumped into her in the city where she remembered our names, and we got to say hello to her baby son in the stroller 😍 After finishing our first dinner at this restaurant, we immediately booked another reservation for the next day! And we were not disappointed. Normally, I'm not a big dessert person, but the desserts here were a real standout, and they provided the perfect finish to an already very delicious meal. In conclusion, if you're looking for a truly memorable dining experience in Gothenburg, look no further than this family-owned Vietnamese restaurant. The passion and care that the staff and chefs bring to every dish is outstanding, and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Book now!

The food was amazing! We especially liked the bao with duck and hoisin sauce aswell as the chicken curry but everything was very very good. Flavorful and nicely presented. Generous portions for the main courses. Very kind waiters! We will definitely come back.

This is our favorite restaurant in Göteborg by far. We tried almost everything at the menu and we liked every food we had. There are two great things about this place, first is the knowledgeable friendly guy who is running it. Second is the food which didn't get asimilated into the Swedish taste.

This place is a must! We've had the Banh Mi Tofu, Summer Rolls with Tofu and the Chicken Curry. They were all absolutely delicious and perhaps the best we've ever had. Service was also top notch and she even offered to ask her mother in the kitchen to surprise me after I couldn't decide what to get because everything looked so nice. So friendly and fun! If we weren't on vacation, I'd come here every week! Huge recommendation.

Very nice restaurant! Food was super delicious. They even provided extra vegetables for noodle soups. The staffs were very friendly and professional. They explained drinks and food to us and gave us nice tips.

Without any overstatement, the food and the service was extraordinary good! The Banh Mi was by far the best we ever had. It’s a small family owned restaurant and all people are super kind and take their time to have a small conversation and give you suggestions and explanations to the food. Highly recommended and it was definitely not our last visit here!

Took my family here a few weeks ago. My mum has a number of dietary requirements and they were amazing! So helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and everyone was talking about it for days afterwards. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go again!

A rather average and overpriced experience. The locale itself is well situated, but not charming at all with a sterile look and no (?) music. it feels more like a communist style lunch place (milk bar). The staff is very friendly and attentive however, as well as knowledgeable, which is much appreciated. The food itself however has a flashy presentation, but behind that lies a lot of the same and overused ingredients. The Vietnamese salad (cucumber, carrot, tangy lime dressing) looks great, but it seems a large batch is produced and put into every dish. We had one appetizer and two mains and half of all three dishes was this exact same salad,. Apart from that more inexpensive ingredients like a lot of just cold and cooked rice noodles and some protein and stir fry. The stir fry itself was alright, but too salty. Okay vegan options though. Overall, would not recommend. The prices are way too high for the quality.

This restaurant was such a wonderful find! This family run establishment has wonderful food and wonderful service in a cozy ambiance. It is obvious that the food is prepared with love, using the freshest of ingredients! They have great options for vegetarians, vegans and pescatarians as well. I highly recommend even if you’re only visiting Gothenburg for one night!

Most of the points go for the Ambience and excellent service. Food was good too, but maybe not the greatest Vietnamese food I have eaten in this part of the world.

  • 5/5 Pal D. 5 years ago on Google
Wow the food was so, so good! I was not so hungry so I thought I'd just have the pho, nudle soop. But the portion was huge! And staff was super friendly and took the time to tell us alot about the food. Make sure you book a table on time, because this place is popular!

Vi Viet is consistently the top rated Vietnamese restaurant in Gothenburg for its quality cuisine, service and high value to price ratio. The Pho is particularly great here. Keep in mind that you should book tables in advance if you intend to visit at say Friday/Saturday evening to get a seat. Service was beyond excellent - a particularly commendable behavior was that waiters would ALWAYS ask for allergies when each course was ordered.
