Located right in the middle of Shijo Kawaramachi, this is a great option if you want a quick meal in this area. Overtourism due to inbound tourism has become a social problem in Kyoto these days, and the impact on infrastructure in Kyoto City is particularly large, making it difficult for restaurants to serve customers smoothly. In particular, this store is not always crowded, and the food is offered at a low price, so it is a great help for Japanese people and is a popular store. It is truly a hidden gem in Kyoto.

A safe budget option in a busy district of Kyoto. Soba or udon between 300-500 yen for standard bowls.

A typical udon and soba noodles shop. Food is cheap and quick. The food is decent and hot soup is always great on a cold day! It goes as cheap as 380yen for a plain bowl of noodles and soup. I got the kitsune and tempura udon. The tempura is just tempura batter fried into a circle. The soup and ingredients also go deliciously well with the togarashi (japanese chili powder). Great spot for a quick and easy breakfast

It can get crowded, so we recommend arriving early. In one of the tourist areas and with a lot of people, you find this small "old-fashioned" place, frequented by locals, with delicious udon or soba ramen. It's run by an older Japanese couple. You eat standing at the bar, but it's part of the experience. The menu is not very extensive but it is specialized and above all it is delicious and at very popular prices of between 390 and 600 yen. Highly recommended. I hope it maintains this authenticity and flavor for many more years.

Awesome udon/soba at an amazingly affordable price. Ideal place to grab some quick soupy noodle nearby Shinkyogoku.

Cheap and delicious. Most customers are locals and they seem to be regulars there judging by the way they had a chat with the owner.

This is a place where you can taste traditional Japanese soba and udon!! I ate fried tofu soba and nisin soba, and it tasted clean and without unnecessary ingredients!!! It tasted like you can't imagine mackerel drowning in water, but it was harmonious without being fishy haha. It opened early at 8 a.m., so it was a great place to have breakfast. I really liked the ambience of this restaurant, where you can eat standing up. Plus, the price is reasonable. The owner is also kind~!!! When I saw locals eating a bowl of udon noodles and triangular kimbap on their way to work, I thought it must be a delicious restaurant! This is a place I want to visit again next time I come to Kyoto! No, I want to visit Kyoto to taste the soba here!
