The Kyoto Budo Centre is an impressive site and is used to host a variety of sporting events and classes, more notably Budo (Martial Arts). Regular features here are Aikido and Kendo. The staff at the front office are very friendly and usually accommodate curious minds to come in and have a very short look if any classes are going on. Highly recommended for it's close proximity to the famous Heian Jingu (shrine) as well.

We visited this place to see traditional Kendo training. The building is a really fantastic example of traditional Japanese architecture. It was interesting to see young and seasoned kendo being practiced in this incredible and authentic venue.

Nice place for martial arts. I attended on of Yoko Okamoto Sensei's classes there and would love to go back!

Awesome place. I took a visit before doing a samurai sword shopping around the corner and despite looking like a private place - visitors are welcome. I enjoyed watching some judo and kyudo practices as well. Definitely a great visit for any martial arts practitioner.

By far the best real Japanese experience you can have in Kyoto. Tomoshoshy san is very kind and helpful, his kendo lesson is very interesting and fun, especially if you are a small group of friends!

A very interesting and unique experience. Note that the place may seem closed, but go in and check. Typically there is one sport lesson taking place at a given time and you need to find the relevant building. If you wish to see more than one sport, spend here more than an hour.

Amazing experience! About 16 of us. Taken through the history of Kendo through a potted history of Japan. Built up the instruction little by little until we went into combat with our partners at the end.

So much Budo history, spirit and feeling in such a beautiful old building.
