I recently spent three nights at La Manigua. Needless to say, it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The lodge is beautiful and maintained impecably. The food is excellent but the most striking thing is how attentive Juan Pablo and his staff are with their guests. La Manigua is not just a beautiful lodge, it's an experience. If you're thinking of traveling to La Macarena you owe it to yourself to stay there.

Most beautiful place I ever was able to spend some nights. I am really impressed what kind of paradise Juan Pablo and his team built in the middle of nowhere. Perfect place if you want to visit the cano cristales, encounter the forest or just observe nature (birds, monkeys, turtles) in a really peaceful quite and familiar place. The food is delicious and the team really helpful and kind. They organized several tours for us, as well as a overnight sleep in the forest with hang mats. The huts are really nice, you have hangmats to enjoy nature or take a jungle bath in the outdoor showers. Juan Pablo, thank you and your team for an unforgetable experience! I would always recommend to stay in la Manigua!

La manigua is a magical place. Everything in the place goes according to its mission: energy is solar powered, no trees were cut down during its construction, they provide you with eco-friendly shampoo and soap, and they use dry bathrooms. That doesn't however make this any less of an incredible place to stay; the room was beautiful, with its own balcony, a net where you can lay down to see the monkeys and the stars, binoculars so you can do some birdwatching, and even some incense so that you can keep bugs away while you're enjoying yourself. The food is also amazing, and all the people working there are super nice. Aside from the place, Juan Pablo makes sure to plan an amazing trip from start to finish that is catered to all of your needs. You will get to see Caño Cristales, a colombian marvel, an many other incredible places, like Raudales or Caño Cristalitos. Juan pablo makes sure there's not a moment to lose, and you'll be able to enjoy things like a cacao workshop or a nighttime walk to see the animal life after dark. Even when you are at the hotel, you are surrounded by nature and animals, which makes every single minute special. Our stay was great, and we want to come back again. We enjoyed every second of our time there, and we could tell that Juan Pablo cares as much about the guests as he does about the community and the ecosystem of the region.

This was hands down one of the best hotel experiences I've had (and I've traveled). The hotel and setting are beautiful. The rooms were basic and clean but felt luxurious, and the outdoor shower was a (cold) treat. Meals were balanced and delicious. Everyone went above and beyond to meet or anticipate our needs, giving us a few surprises. And I personally loved waking to the sound of the birds and monkeys in the tree. The lodge founder is a scientist who, along with a wonder team of attentive staff, created a wonderful eco-conscious experience in the jungle. All the guides we spoke to on excursions raved about Juan Pablo and his efforts to spur community based sustainable tourism not only in La Macarena but neighboring communities too.

Mind you, the lodge is in a very remote area and yet, the organisation and service was amazing. We were soprised by how friendly and polite everyone was. All readily to ensure you have a good experience. The Lodge seems very well connected and involved with the community, which is something I highly value. Food was very tasty, amamities were very nice. Rooms are as in pictures. The toilet and showers are outside but still covered so you don't get wet if raining. The water is cold but who wants to shower with warm water when it is so hot!! WiFi is only available and the bar and in the dining hall. Helps you disconnect from the busy life and enjoy the experience with nature. Have in mind the place is located in the middle of the jungle, so be prepared for humidity and everything feeling damp all the time, for mosquitos, noicy monkeys, and heavy rain. The main attraction here is visiting Caño Cristales which is open between the months of June and November. So plan ahead! The Lodge helped organise everything, even the plane tickets. Finally, we loved our experience in the magical rivers thanks to our guide, Ana. She was very knowledgeable and kind, and full of stories.
