Tourist attraction Archaeological museum

👍👍 A great family experience, the children really liked the excavation activity, plus the ticket prices are affordable, an activity to add for general knowledge of the history of Canada and Old La Prairie. In FDS there are more activities than during the week, but it's worth it! People often mention kids, museum,

The museum is a very cool experience and especially with kids! The staff is super helpful and nice. The place is well adapted to handicapped and kids. It's a bit small but it's packed tight with objects. There is one guided exposition with a cool archeology activity!

Beautiful treasure in the corner of Vieux La Prairie. My daughter is here for summer camp and she tells me about the activities she did during the day with the group. We hope to do our own tour of the museum.

Nice, small museum. Staff is very knowledgeable. The guided tour can easily take 1.5 hours, ehich is surprising for such a small place. The permanent exhibit retraces histrory through artefacts from the native americains through to now. There is a junior archeologist dig at the end of the visit, very cool, the kids loved it. Interesting for kids and for interested adult.

If you love archeology and a little bit of La Prairie's history, this is a nice place to start. It took us about 1h30 for the visit. Don't forget to make your reservation online before your visit. It's free!

Small museum on the outskirts of Montreal displays the history of the country side from the 17th century. Some exhibits are in French, however the staff was very helpful translating, providing tours in both French and English. There are also interactive activities for kids, such as an archeological dig, teaching children how to unearth artifacts then use deductive reasoning to place it in the right time period. There are sometimes special exhibits as well. When visiting in Aug 2018, there was an exhibit on forgeries. Admission prices are reasonable (see picture of rates).
