The Ramkot Fort is accessible through boat. It's located in mangla dam. It's an old fort built by hindus around 1186 AD. We took the route of Dina, Mirpur khas to reach Mangla Dam. From where we rented a boat to reach Ramkot Fort. This fort is located within the island in Mangla dam. We were 12 people. The boat we hired was quite slow. It was big boat. It's slowness becomes another enjoyment and we enjoyed the scenery more than we thought. After landing on island, it is require to climb up the roughly 100 - 200 stairs. The person on gate will charge 200/person. That is probably not official but sort of Jagga(جگا) tax. We went there for BBQ. The fort is not being maintained with due attention. There isn't any toilet or fresh water access, if you are trying to stay for long. It has a beautiful scenery of Mangla Dam from top. We also enjoyed the scenic views during the visit especially the sunset view and long lines of birds flying over the water. Overall it was a memorable trip ☺️

First of all its not in India, About fort: its control by Pakistan Army and You have to take Boat from nearest Boat club, multiple type of boat there, low speed to high speed, price from 500 Rupees to 2000 Rupees, you required 30 min to 1 hour reach fort, and then almost 3 to 400 hectic stairs on hill, then you find this tremendous place, Fort is normally close as army take control but surrounding view is awesome, all side water and in the middle on hill this located

This place is worth visiting, the fort isn't as big as rohtas fort but the scenic view is amazing....There a lot of stairs while getting up to the fort...the army boating club is recommended for going up to the fort!

A Fort has magnificent views of Mangla Dam. It is under Pakistan Army control and boat ride is highly recommended to view the entire area. Good place for outing .

Marvellous fort at the peak of hills now surrounded by water bodies of Mangla Dam. You can reach there via boat from Mangla Water Sports Club or from other nearby villages. The fort itself doesn’t give you vibes of mightiness but the travel to fort is really adventurous. Take not that the fort is located on top of hill and the only way to reach is via stairs. It’s strenuous hike, highly unsuitable for ladies and children. P.S. Take your water and snacks as nothing is available over there. Only a few people visit there so no such arrangement is made.

What an amazing place to visit. Especially, its limited access make it more wonderful. There are two ways to reach at fort. One is through water by boat which departs from sports/army clubs in Mirpur. It is more costly than the second path which is through land. If your are coming from east or south through Mirpur city, you have to travle all around the mangla lake to reach Dadyal city first. From Dadyal, you have to travel to village Bhale. But adventure welcomes you there when you don't find any road to fort after this village. (Better to ask someone aroud) You would be able to see fort on the top of a hill couple of kilometres away. You have to park you vehicle a side and be ready to test you hiking skills.😁 THIS WAY IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE FAMILIES AT ALL. Searching your way through the bushes and after hikinng couple of hills you will reach this wonderful place.

Ramkot fort is approachable only by boat. And thats a 25 mins ride form mangla resiovior. Geographically fort is in azad Kashmir regions. Its well preserved and a must visit for history lovers. Boating charges are PKR 12k for a round trip with 2 hrs stay allowed. And 5 persons can sit easily in the boat. There’s an entry ticket of fort as well

Ramkot Fort, on the bank of river Jhelum, was built during 16-17th AD by the Muslim rulers of Kashmir. Sikh Maharaja further fortified it. Ramkot Fort is located on the opposite side of the Mirpur town and one has to cross Mangla dam on boat to reach there this is so beautiful Pakistan 🇵🇰

This is one the best tourist historical place situated in Azad Kashmir. We reached here through a boat crossing Mangla Dam and it was a wonderful experience because it was first ever boat trip. If you want to enjoy so take a boat trip to this fort and live BBQ in the during slow journey of the boa will double the joy of your trip. The trip was organized by a private tourism agency but I come to know that a special permission need to visit Ramkot Fort for visiting through boat. It is accessible through boat, 13 kilometers away from Dina and 79 kilometers by road from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir to Dadyal town. It was built by a Gakkhar named Toglu as recorded by traveler and geologist Frederick Drew in his book. According to Wikipedia Construction started 16th–17th century AD.
