I can confirm that they have a dual price policy for Thai and foreigners. When I asked the price of a procedure I got a higher quote than when a Thai person on social media asked around the same time. (I read a little Thai.) Also their price estimates are slippery. I went for a routine eye exam. The price I was quoted ahead of time was padded with lots of extras by the time I paid. The doctor mis-diagnosed a detached retina and recommended urgent treatment. I got a second opinion from a doc at a different hospital. She didn't see any problem. It's been two years on and my retina is doing fine, without any treatment. Finally, know that the doctor probably will not see you when scheduled. You may have to wait an additional 1-4 hours. They state this explicitly in their confirmation email. No other hospital in Thailand, that I'm aware of, has this severe problem with patient scheduling.

The queue system is very bad. Appointment: 1:30 noon But until I saw the doctor at 2 p.m. You should also make patient appointments from 13:30-14:00. Very bad. Please improve.

5 years ago i have a good experience with them, i went for eye checkup and spent 1-2 hours, quite efficient. But now, my experience was horrible, i have eye irritation so i need to see doctor, but they’re sending me to all this visual assessments and leave me waiting for doctor for almost 4 hours. I remember i registered at 3.05 pm and by 5.30 they said i need to change doctor because the first doctor has too many patients, and they send me to another eye refraction test, that doesn’t really relate with my eye irritation which from insect went into my eye. By the time it reached 6.30 i can’t take it anymore so i just told them i don’t want to continue and will go to other hospital instead. A big disappointment, not recommended!

This hospital is hugely overrated and overpriced. They have a dual pricing system so foreigners are even more overpriced than Thais. My girlfriend had cataract surgery. An initial appointment for surgery was made for 21 December but the hospital rescheduled the surgery for 23 December. We were told to be at the hospital at noon for surgery at 3pm. After hours of needless waiting the doctor arrived at 3:15. The discussion about which lens would best suit her needs didn’t happen until just before the surgery and then it was rushed and inconclusive. After surgery we were told to wait for approval from the insurance. It’s now 7:30 and we are still waiting. We’ve been told that the amount owed is ThB 76000 even though we were quoted ThB 65000. That’s a 17% increase on the quoted price! This place is a huge rip off!

I ignored the negative reviews because I had a good experience here years ago. Unfortunately, it’s now so overcrowded that I would recommend avoiding this place. I went for a routine exam and to update my prescriptions. It took 3.5 hours. The waiting areas were so packed that they even had 3 other patients waiting inside the exam room while the doctor was hurriedly checking patients. After I finally finished and paid, it turned out that the doctor did not even provide me with my prescriptions, so I had to wait another 30 minutes in their glasses shop while they made phone calls and a different doctor had to come talk to me. It does not feel like an international private hospital, but more like an understaffed and overcrowded government hospital.

I was an old patient here and used to come here only to see one doctor who is good. However, the system here is completely inefficient. There are long waiting queues despite appointments that are booked in advance, the clinic is always packed, and the staff are dishonest about the waiting queues. I had booked an appointment for 2:36 pm, I arrived at 1 pm and had gone through screening and basic vision check which took an hour. Then they informed me the doctor was on lunch break, and there were 7 patients before me. It was already 2:20 pm by that time! I told them to cancel my appointment, and suddenly there were only 3 patients in queue before me even though the doctor was still on lunch? It’s clear they are prioritizing patients not due to the appointment timing which is why it’s highly inefficient. I won’t be coming back here anymore unfortunately, I’m not surprised it’s getting 1 star reviews recently. Please don’t waste your time and go to a hospital instead!

My left eye hurts when it's open or when I think...it's kinda weaker than the right eye... doctor charges to visit is 2000 bath..u have to take appointment....friendly welcome and good service with modern equipments....first they check your pressure than test your eye number and than u get to see the doctor.......the doctor was amazing..and kind hearted...this type of pain can be for many reasons because eyes r a complicated thing..but my pain was because of dry eyes....pain can be caused because of many reasons...he numbed my eyes and confirmed the problem was outer surface issue and dry eyes.... Also gave muscle relaxant so there r no pains to consume during day may cause sleep but it won't let the eye pain. And smoking is causing this eye pain as well ... With medicines the bill was 2350

The service is simply horrible. Another Bangkok hospital victim of its success. It should called the eye factory. No doubt some doctors are competent. But one day the impersonnel, profit minded approach will likely effect the performance.

Unprofessional I went for a consultation this morning to find that the doctor I was due to meet changed, the time I was due to meet them was pushed back two hours and no one bothered to tell me. If you are looking for patient focus and a professional approach, go somewhere else. I do not recommend taking the risk of completing cosmetic surgery at Rutnin Eye Hospital

A good private specialist Eye Hospital not far away from Sukhumvit and the Skytrain/MRT lines. Clean, well organized and the staff is polite and helpful. All doctors and nurses are well experienced in the field. Be aware that they don't have an Emergency Department so for eye emergencies you better try someplace else. They seem to be unable to keep precise appointments as my friend last week was seen 1.5 hours after his scheduled appointment time. Prices not low but not exorbitant high. Prescribed medications are a lot more expensive than in normal pharmacies ( more than double) as is the case for most other private hospitals in Thailand. Recommended

Designed for revenue generation not care. Chop the process into tiny steps and charge for each step. Dont discuss what the steps and tests are with the patient or their purpose, or provide results. Dont show the bill before payment. Second appointment redo some tests and charge again. They have good staff and good equipment but no real holistic view of the patient. 11K baht. Walked out with a very basic prescription which I had to ask for twice,( no mention of the reading, computer, driving variations which the doctor insisted I needed) some over priced eye drops and a receipt which says medical services. Wont be going back.

I had the opportunity to take my father here to have his eyes checked. A new goal in life has arisen, which is to take the best care of my eyesight. So you don't have to step foot here. I feel like I'm the one asking. Ask for help to help heal. - Normally make an appointment at 13.00, the officer informs you to register at 12.30, then you arrive on time in the middle of the traffic in this area. - I actually got checked at 2:00 p.m. because the doctor went out to eat. which has an appointment system for - The receptionist takes good care of you. At first glance, I was impressed. After that, my mental health was damaged. - The employees in the examination room department are rude. He pushed me on the back and walked quickly out of the examination room. While I was supporting Father, he slowly walked out of the examination room. - The doctor understands that he's good. I've heard that. But why are you yelling? It's a good question and he answers as much as he can. I understand that I'm old and experienced. ***I want to emphasize that some employees are very good. But some of you are the best. Pushing me on the back to quickly walk out of the examination room while I was supporting Father as he walked, this was truly unacceptable. March 18, 2024, examination room 8, 2nd floor, time 2:00 p.m.

Believe the bad reviews. It’s overcrowded, they have a bad queue management system. I was told to arrive at 8:30 for a 9am appointment, I arrived on time & it took them 15 minutes to even find my appointment in the system. I’ve been waiting 3 hours to see the doctor so far, they tell me it’ll be another 30 minutes. That’s not acceptable.

One of the best eye specialist hospital in Bangkok. Very good with clients and my dad is a patient for Glaucoma. The doctors are great and a lot of languages available for after care services and operations. Smaller building compared to other hospitals on Bangkok but the service is excellent. Also cashier system is quite efficient. One of the issues we face in Thailand hospital is payment settlement, so this is really fantastic for me. Parking is a bit difficult in peak hours but feel free to ask for other options. Nearby Q house building can host if parking is full. They use efficient time management and COVID-19 period only patient and another person can enter to see doctor may it be family member or translation. Please keep that in mind that COVID-19 prevention is in place. Only one restaurant available on ground flood called Kapric in Thai and its delicious food as well. Thank you for reading.

The hospital is nice, but the Moommong Shop inside is VERY unprofessional! -- They sold me the most expensive high index glasses lenses that are exactly WRONG for me. I explained to them my problems but they either ignored me or have absolutely no idea what they are doing. 35 000 THB on glasses that are useless. Yes, I will be returning them. -- For comparison, I have a pair of old glasses (from a different shop in Thailand). They are perfect, cost a fraction of the cost, and yes, the same prescription. My reason for going to Rutnin was to push the boundaries of perfection. It's not that there is something wrong with the product, it's that it's the WRONG product for me. I truly don't care about the price as long as I get the best possible product for my needs. The "high index" glasses they sold me are sharp ONLY in the very middle, but blurry and distorting on the sides and top/down. I have experienced this with other glasses. I explained to them that I need glass lenses that cause minimal distortion. Some people don't mind this because they are thinner and lighter, but I do mind this because it makes them unusable for computer work. If I look straight, the text in the corners of the monitor will be noticeably blurry. I was overly clear in explaining this. -- My old glasses don't have this problem at all. I explained to them that I need glass lenses that cause minimal distortion. The staff insisted these lenses are the best choice. Yet, I got the lenses that causes the most peripheral distortion. Reading about these lenses, they are exactly NOT recommended for me. There was no language barrier. I explained for them for 30 minutes my experiences and requirements. The staff spoke English well but I asked my wife to translate to thai anyway. I explained to them clearly that I came to Rutnin exactly because recently, another shop had no idea what they where doing. -- The staff also insisted NOT to add anti-glare coating, something that high index lenses should have. They insisted to NOT get any special coatings such as anti-smudge, anti-fog etc, which was weird to me. Instead they claimed these lenses were good enough. That too is a complete lie. The glasses glare very much. Unfortunately, I did not know about the issues with high index glasses at that time. -- But that's why you go to the most reputable and know eye hospital, right!? To have professionals help you. It took me exactly 15 seconds of Googling to understand why my new glasses are horrible; and an additional 2 min to find these issues are very well known and opticians don't recommended for people like me. The reason I accepted ordering those lenses was because I did not know know then what I know now, and because Moommong claimed those lenses were the best. At least 3 staff were involved in helping me selecting frames and the best possible lenses. There was no reason for me to doubt "professionals". Now I got my new glasses by mail and the peripheral distortion are comically bad. -- I want to repeat: The hospital, nurses and doctor were all nice and professional. It is the Moommong "By Rutnin" glasses shop inside Rutnin that are horrible.

The waiting time for seeing a doctor is beyond what is reasonable. Waiting 5 hours is not acceptable. Then to be to told to come back for the procedure again? I don’t have any complaints about the competence of the doctors but the appointments should be take into consideration the capacity of the doctors to see patients.

Needed to get a prescription for spectacles and was worried that it would take very long as most of the comments said the wait would be long. We called to take appointment and was advised that prescription won't need appointment. Can just walk in. The receptionist told me to come after 5 pm to avoid the crowd. We did this just it and it was incredible. We didn't wait. 5 mins and our names were called and it was done in 5 mins. Altogether, spent 15 mins in the hospital and it cost 825B. Happy with the service.

Wasn't sure whether to give them a 3 or a 4. If you live in an area that doesn't have access to the machines necessary to adequately diagnose a perplexing eye problem, this is a great place. However, it is crowded, English is limited, and you can be referred down hallways that seem endless and get lost in the labyrinth. This can take hours. (I would never go there for routine eye issues.) Nonetheless, the staff there have been able to diagnose things that no one else I've seen could. They have the equipment and the know-how! A much needed eye hospital in the region.

The specialists are skillful. Location is great. I love the hospital restaurant, price is relatively high but compromised quality. The restaurant should increase more menu choices, it’s really important cause each client has to visit hospital many times in weeks or months and we have limited choices of food there it’s better if we have more choices since hospital food are suitable for patients However, the hospital system and operation took too long with its process, weak patient could be fallen so sick during the waiting and queue and especially going to different check/test rooms in a narrow space back and forth. My mom is high blood pressure/hypertension patient and we had an appointment with doctor at 11am so we tried to be early and arrived at the hospital at 8:30, after all the process of check/test which were completed by 11 and it’s the exact time we had an appointment with doctor, my mom had to wait another 3 hours until 2 pm that we can finally meet our doctor. And by that time my mom blood pressure increase while she’s also getting shakes cuz we can’t leave the queue otherwise somebody else will take out place. So she fallen weaker and getting sick the next day. Not only this the doctor is accepting too many patients and the consultation is not effective as well as too rush that my mom as a patient didn’t even have chance to ask question about her illness and stuff. I felt so disappointed with my first time experience there and it turned out to be a dissatisfied experience. This is inefficient and I hope the hospital read all the feedbacks and do something about it.

The hospital provides many varieties of optical treatment plans. The appointment service is prompt when it comes to calling for confirmation. However, the actual appointment with doctor might take a lot of time (extra 1-2 hours waiting time). They also have a related clinic in Cambodia that we can do follow up.

I needed surgery for my left eye for a Cornea Edema . I read about DMEK surgery and wondered if it was available in Thailand . I found Dr. Pattaramon at Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok. Within a few weeks after my first appointment I had DMEK surgery under local anesthetic It took about 30 min with minimal pain. The day after the vision in my left eye was clear again and improving over the next few days. I recommend that if you are having problems with your cornea, contact Dr. Pattaramon and all the wonderful staff at Rutnin Eye Hospital

The worst hospital for eye examination. I went on 3/7/21Saturday morning to a special doctor for children and gave my son eye drops to examine the eye. He told me to go back on Tuesday 6/7/21to take a size to make new glasses and on Tuesday I took the measurement and went to the eyeglass store and the store was shocked when he saw the wrong size and refused to work for my son with glasses and told me to go To the hospital and tried to call and e-mail and went to them more than twice and the doctor was interviewed again and he treated me with disregard and refused to talk to me just because I told him the size was wrong and my son did not see that he refused to speak and he was disrespectful to me and I spoke with the administration. And the doctor was wrong and they told me come on Sunday to another doctor and you will not pay for an examination because the doctor is wrong and the other doctor said to me that you are right and the doctor is wrong and I was silent and I did not have a problem and suddenly they wanted me to pay for checking up and say no no first doctor is right and make my son scared and only want money there is no manager they don't care about there doctor behavior or my son pain

I've been here three times. The facilities and doctors are good but they overschdule EVERY single time. Every other review has same experience. I do not understand why (aside from raking in more money). I've never spent less than two hours here and they do not seem to care at all about making patients wait and are not apologetic at all. People have things to do and two hours for an hour appointment three times is just unnacceptable. Will not visit this hospital again.

Brilliant hospital, great Doctors and Staff. Great after care services . Note to those complaining; 1 Do not go to the Premier Eye Hospital in Thailand if you are on a budget or you do not have Insurance. It's quite obvious you will pay a high price for 5 star services. 2 Expect to wait in queues, because it's obviously clear that the best eye hospital in Thailand will be busy. Successful businesses attract large volumes of business.

Before my appointment on Monday, 11th December 2023, I read some of the 1-star reviews, and it did cross my mind to cancel. However, I am pleased I did not, and here’s why. From obtaining a cheerful welcome and directions from 3 guys in the car park to an equally cheerful and efficient welcome from the girls at reception, my overall experience over the next 2 hours was excellent. The numerous tests I undertook were done without fuss, with no undue delays. I lost count of the number of rooms I attended, but I was left with the impression of a professional and highly organised hospital with wonderful staff. I especially thank Dr. Piyada Chitsuthipakorn for her excellent English and explanation of my eye issues. It is an unusual thing to say, but I look forward to my return visit in January.

I was so disappointed by this hospital that has such a good reputation. Shocked by the patient care there. I waited 1.5 hours to see the doctor 5 minutes whilst there was another patient in the room, and he did not explain the effects of the treament have gave me, which caused me to not see properly for more than 9 hours, my eyes still hurt. The experience felt like it was an eye factory, not a hospital, never had such an experience in 12 years in Thailand.

Made an appointment for 14:00. I was told to come 30 min early. I’m on time and start the process only for the doctor’s lunch time to be 14:00???? Why schedule an appointment for the doctor’s lunch time? Why tell me to come 30 min early? Did you want to make sure I have to wait for the entire lunch hour or more? I took time away from my business for this waste of time!

It is also helpful to be open until 8:00 pm. Foreigners need to bring their passport at the first visit. The cashless payment of overseas travel insurance did not work, but it is a hospital with a well-known doctor. Rutnin Eye Hospital provides highly professional, competant and efficient service from the first diagnostic checkup to cataract surgery and post operative care. Every detail in the whole process has been logically planned and flowing. The spaces are clearly signposted to lead one easily from one area to the other. The staff speak excellent English and clearly explain what is needed and what is happening. My surgeon was extremely knowledgable and competant. The cataract operation went perfectly. She clearly explained everything. The nursing staff explained the post operative eye drop procedure. Everyone made sure I was comfortable and had a clear understanding of each process. All three appointments flowed like clockwork. The waiting areas are designed for social distancing and all areas are spotlessly clean. The Rutnin staff quickly took care of contact and payment with the insurance company. I didn't need to do anything. I can now see very clearly. Their high level reputation is very well earned.

Efficiently run hospital, clean and modern. Wait was not long. Maybe about 10 mins per station/prep area. Saw Dr S Rutnin -- presumably founder or family member of the founder. For a senior guy, took his time to explain to me the issue (or as the case thankfully is, non-issue). Also told me what to expect down the road. This is the standard of care that I am used to in Canada. And no wonder, I found out later Dr Rutnin is Canadian trained. Rutnin (the hospital and the man himself) is the best there is.

Terrible experience! Very vague on cost estimate and they want you to wait 1-4 hrs for an eye examination! Ridiculous! Seems they do not have a standard procedure in place for a LASIK pre-examination, like other hospitals where they tell you exactly what they will do and what it will cost. AVOID!

Dual price policy. Staff after being asked why I had to pay more than thai people has confirmed it's because I am a foreigner.

If you want an eye checkup, run don't walk to your nearest Bridders and get it done in 15 minutes. Rutnin will send you walking and waiting around different stations for 3 hours. Every time they circle you back to the doctor, the nurse will put drops in your eyes to dilate them, including when the doctor has already examined you and isn't going to look at your eyes any more. As for the doctors, they will aggressively steer you towards expensive laser eye surgery. If you do think you might need laser surgery, I suggest talking to a doctor at a place that isn't so obviously trying to steer all customers towards it.

That is, everything is good. Except for the queue management system. Never once have I been late. More late, less late depends on merit. I don't understand how difficult it is to make patient appointments. I have brought my parents here for treatment for many years. So bored that my father had to go to another hospital. Mother is undergoing treatment with a doctor. He said he took good care of me. Today's appointment is at 10:30. Don't be late. Late and there will be problems here and there. Summary: 15.45 has just begun to prepare for treatment. Waited a total of 5.45 hours without doing anything!

Take your mother for corneal replacement surgery. It is a procedure that can be found very little information on social media. Dr. Phatthamon is very good. He explains clearly and is easy to understand. On the day of surgery, all the staff provided good service and took very good care of us. The rooms were clean, modern, reasonable price and standard. I'm very impressed.

This hospital is amazing. I arrived early by taxi and expected to wait, but immediately they were taking care of me and starting a series of the most amazing tests possible. The equipment is state of the art, and the staff lovely and professional. Dr Rutnin was awesome. Extremely professional and so kind and friendly. The final diagnosis was again extremely comprehensive in all of the details. I was so happy to see some of my concerns eliminated immediately. I was a bit worried about my eyes and everything was explained clearly. It was worth the special trip to bangkok. My sincere thanks to all the staff and doctor Rutnin. 😁😁. Six stars.!!

It's probably the best clinic in Bangkok for eyes. The service is very fast and well organized. The doctors and staff usually talking a good English. The clinic is very easy to reach along Sukhumvit soi 21 halfway between Asok and Rachada. It has bar, restaurant and glasses shop inside.

This is 3rd time for me in this hospital, before I visited it on 2016 and the doctor was very bad, just listening to me without any advices or comments or treatment, today 14/08/2023 is my appointment at 10:50 and I arrived to hospital at 10:00 and still waiting my turn to see the doctor, it's 11:25 now and I talk with reception and they asked me to wait, my doctor name today is Dr.Piyada Chitsuthipakom. I hope she will be better than the last doctor who I met before on 2016.

Suffering conjunctivitis, I visited the Rutnin Eye Hospital as a ‘walk-in’ patient where I was seen by Opthalmologist Dr Pattaramon Bunnapradist. The doctor spoke very good English and was very experienced, professional and caring. After the usual eye tests, I was diagnosed with ‘viral conjunctivitis in both eyes’ and prescribed eye drops, and made a quick recovery. I was delighted with the service I received at Rutnin, from the moment I walked through the door and was quickly attended to by the delightful staff at reception, to all of the staff I met that day. The is a very professional hospital and the costs are extremely reasonable. I highly recommend.

Khun doctor Roy was saved me from blindness after retinal detachment. He will forever my hero. For all who annoyed about waiting times: If they give you wait, you have easy thing to treat and there are other peoples more in troubles with an emergency case. Be cool and drink a coffee. Or go eat something down in the restaurant. The Suki Yaki is very delicious...... 😊

Very very bad experience! My wife appointment was for 1:00pm, we arrived at 12:30, did the registration etc and the process, then were sent to wait for EXAMINATION around 1:25pm, with 10 People before us in the queue. Eventually after several request she was taken in at 2.50pm. We had another appointment at Bangkok General Hospital which we had to cancel. What’s the use to make appointment when the Dr doesn’t follow the timings. Also in this time of pandemic, to make patient’s wait for 2-2:30hours. Really not worth the experience

  • 5/5 Andrew B. 3 years ago on Google
Better diagnostic equipment, combined with dedicated doctors, than that found in the eye department of a general hospital. Great service where they automatically re-label your existing prescriptions with revised instructions, even a prescription filled at an outside pharmacy. Well organized. Recommended for anyone with an eye issue.

made an appointment for 11:25. They told me to come at 11:00, wait for 2 hours and get to see doc at 13:00. It's like they think you're free all day.

Notwithstanding both the quietly confident surgical skills and exceptionally comforting bedside manner of dear Dr Duangnate, I would be remiss not to also laud Nurse Rainee & her amusing yet helpful admissions gang, the lovely staff at reception and each and every professional along the way who contributed to a top-notch experience! Overall, I’d rate my recent surgery equal to that of enjoying a five star hotel, surrounded by loving and caring family. A sincere thanks to all!

I've been getting eye checkups here for over 10 years. It's difficult to get an appointment with my ophthalmologist. So many times I have been in Bangkok but could not see the doctor because of scheduling issues. Also, their prices have gone up astronomically. I understand they have a reputation as being the best eye clinic in all of thailand, but it always feels like you're being herded like cattle the way they shuttle you from one testing station to the next. It has become very impersonal. Also I find that I don't have enough time to get the kind of feedback I want from the doctor. I'm looking elsewhere now for an ophthalmologist.

The staff at Rutnin is courteous and helpful. I had an excellent experience with my opthalmologist and the various medical technicians. I highly recommend Rutnin for eye care. I've used their services for many years.

Booked an eye examination at this hospital today. Terrible experience. I was given a piece of paper after seeing a nurse in Triage and was running around on my own to 5 different departments. (Room 7, Room 16, Room 3 … 😵‍💫) Each asking me to sit outside and wait. In total I was there for 4 hours. In the end I just got frustrated of the waiting and wanted to leave. Asked to pay the bill. Went to the cashier downstairs and was asked to sit down and wait again to be called. (seriously?) That was another 15 minutes wait. Cost me 7,500 baht in total for the eye check. Never again

The doctor diagnosed me with conjunctivitis. However, after about four months, I did not improve at all, so I went to another hospital, where I had to have a tube inserted due to blocked tear ducts. I have no faith in this place at all.
