Stunning! I’ve been to Gooseberry Falls many times and every time I am just blown away at how beautiful it is. I’ve seen the falls at different times of the year and keep in mind that sometimes there is much more water then other times. But even when the water is low, it’s still pretty. There’s other areas you can walk to and another waterfall too nearby. The best part? It’s just a short walk from the parking lot! This is nice when you’re traveling with someone who can’t walk too much. You do have to walk more to get to other areas but to see the main waterfall is not far. There are stairs as well so keep that in mind. There’s also nice restrooms and a very sweet gift shop inside with a mini museum which is fun for kids and adults. The worst part? I hope you have a lot of phone storage because you won’t be able to stop taking pictures! Now, a side note, the falls when it’s at its max is very loud. This isn’t a problem for me but can be for others who are sensitive to noise. We also try to find times to go when it’s not super busy and full of people.

We had great weather to enjoy the scenery. There are quite a few steps, but the trail around the falls levels out the ascent along the way so it is very hikeable.

It was beautiful and nice. I brought my dog and we had a good time. Just park and hike. It's kind of muddy but cool. Lots of walking. Other people swam in it. Not me. It didn't look that pretty!

Gooseberry Falls State Park is definitely place to explore. Quiet large area of hiking, walking, bicycling, dog walking. Lots of trees, plants and flowers. Beautiful waterfalls on different levels. We have been several times in this park. This place is awesome.

This was a beautiful place and I went on a beautiful day. Even though it rained the night before, the paths were not very muddy. And there are plenty of wood and paved paths. The falls are not that far from the parking lot and you can get to him completely on paved paths. There are stairs that you can go down but there's also a paved path that's exact down for people who don't want to do the stairs. And with the rains the few days before the water was roaring. I'll definitely come back next year when I'm here

Fairly short hike to an amazing place!! I can spend hours and enjoy the fall area. We went under the fall , we swam , we hiked all the way down , followed the path, and unlocked more nature's beauty. Bring towels, bug spray, and water shoes for sure.

Gooseberry Falls is hit or miss, but it never disappoints. The access trails to the falls are great. It is a very short walk, but there are miles and miles of trails if hiking is what you are after. When the falls are high, it is amazing to sit back and listen and view it. When the falls are low, it is fun to have the opportunity to play and swim in it. There is a large shelter with bathrooms and water bottle fill stations. Several things to look at inside. There is a schedule of free guided nature tours and activities every hour on peak visiting weeks. Look ahead to see if there are any, example berry identification tours are cool.

Fantastic State Park! So much to do here, for all levels of ability. The falls are in easy walking distance on east paved paths near visitor center. But their are other falls deeper in the park for those that have more time and want to explore further. Beautiful trails follow the water, fairly easy to navigate. But further in you want good hiking shoes and note it is uneven ground with lots of tree roots and stones. But still easy and worth it. This park also links up to the Superior Trail as well. Dogs are welcomed and there were a decent amount when we were there, all leashed of course. Visitor center with bathrooms and plenty of parking. It can get a little crowded by the falls, but becomes nice and quiet as you venture out on trail.

I've been going to Gooseberry for decade's. And I really did love it before all the parking and designed paths. There were way less people. However, I appreciate what has been done to make it more family friendly. And more accessible. It is very clean and very well manicured. And a must visit for first timers. The path up and down to the lake is about 3.5 miles. Easy hiking.

This is such a great park! The falls are beautiful any time of year. It's a really quick walk to the waterfalls from the parking lot, and most of the main walkways are paved. The visitor center is nice and the restrooms are clean and convenient. I always stop here any time I'm up visiting the North Shore.

Literally amazing, the waterfalls were beautiful. There was about 4 in total. One waterfall is across a stream, you can get across without getting your shoes wet by jumping on the rocks(talking from experience) It is worth it, though i suggest not going across the stream with a broken wrist and elbow. It was also pretty wheel chair accessible for a waterfall. Honestly 10/10 would definitely go again. I also found teeth liners

Great state park with many walking trails and awesome views. You can do some easy hiking loops and adventure on longer walks up a few miles long. Trails can be muddy. Check weather and dress appropriately. Parking and access are free. Parking can be limited, so it's best to do a few loops around the parking lot. Chances are, you'll see someone leaving soon and can grab their spot. Restrooms in the welcome center have running water and soap.

Wow, what an absolutely beautiful and well-maintained state park!! My husband and I stopped here as part of our drive up the north shore, and it was even better than we expected. Loved all the trails and bridges, clean and in great condition. The restrooms in the visitor center were also very clean.

Beautiful state park. The falls are gorgeous. The walking paths are fun and easily accessible. You can walk on either side of the falls. The views are breathtaking. A definite must-see while in northern Minnesota

A beautiful state park along the north shore. The 5 falls hike is not physically demanding and takes one through views of the waterfalls at various points. Kids love to play in the waters.

Beautiful state park with some awesome maintained trails and great view of the waterfall areas for all levels of access. No bugs, clean restroom, kid friendly and parking can be tricky but easily found if patient.

This is a beautiful state park! The walking paths are nice and easy to walk on, the waterfalls are beautiful and peaceful. It wasn’t super busy either so it was possible to get pictures without people in them. Postcards in the gift shop are 25 cents each, which is an incredible deal!

Such a beautiful place. This was my first time here even though I have always lived in Minnesota there is so much to see. This is a state park to spend a lot of time exploring and hiking. And I would highly recommend finding a place to camp to get the full enjoyment of the park and wild life.

Gooseberry Falls State Park offers specified walking trails to the gorgeous upper & lower falls. Picnic areas are available, as are restroom facilities with in the park. So much beauty here beyond the falls, including diverse flower & tree species lining the groomed trails to unique rock formations. Maybe the best part for me was being able to walk out on the rocky base that surrounds the waterfalls. It allowed me to feel so in touch with the surrounding nature. A truly special feeling. Honestly, trying to pick one best thing here isn't possible, it's simply an engaging place that gives at every turn!

Enjoyed a couple hours at Gooseberry Falls, starting with the Upper Falls, working our way down to the hike down to the river/lake. The falls weren't as powerful or full as I had seen photos of earlier, but they still were beautiful. It was a pleasant day and people were walking near the edge of the upper falls, and in the water at the lower falls. The hike after lower falls was more than the 1/2 mile we thought it was. Not too strenuous but not accessible by wheelchair as the main falls were. Some of the path was small stones, other parts dirt, and still other were planked paths. Found some wild roses at the end of our trek. Highly recommend.

We love Gooseberry Falls State Park!!! Alway clean and very well maintained. We walked the river trail down to the lake. While not a difficult walk it could be a challenge for those with poor balance, weak ankles, knee or hip issues. You can still enjoy the river outlet at the lake by walking the trail up along the road or drive down to the shelter house (turn left out of the visitor center parking lot. Parking is limited at the lower shelter house. There is a gravel/pebble Beach and an amazing view of Lake Superior and the rugged shoreline from the lower park. We feel it is a must see whether you walk or drive down to the lake. Lower shelter house has clean running water bathrooms!

I love this state park! It has some beautiful trails and gorgeous falls. It’s a great place for kids, as it’s an easy walk to the falls, and they love climbing up the stairs and seeing the water coursing through the creeks and down the slopes. It has a wonderful gift shop as well, with some unique items and fun books. And of course it’s a beautiful drive to get here.

Goosebury falls is worth the stop if you want to easily see some falls that are very easy to access. There's only a short walk on a paved path to be able to reach views of the upper and middle falls. We saw people of all ages throughout the park. There is a trail that goes all around the falls to have some views from above, but requires a bit of a hike.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was beautiful. The parking lot was fairly full but despite the number of people it was still a great experience. Everyone was getting a chance to get their pictures and play and climb on what they wanted. The trails were great. We started at the upper falls and them worked our way back down. It was extremely enjoyable for the whole family and we can even bring Grandpa and his cane back with us.

Gorgeous park, nice trails and beautiful views. Sitting at the edge of the lake late at night provides some stellar views of the night sky. Always a wonderful trip here.

You need a parking permit. ($35 for 1 year). Plenty of parking. Public restrooms available. If you decide to loop around to the 5th Fall the hike is moderately difficult but doable. Loop on each side of the river can be made and is about 4 miles depending on where you end. Be ready to share the trail with more people of you go in May through September.

State Park overlooking Lake Superior. Flowing waterfalls (probably seasonal). Tons of great hiking trails. The hike along Gooseberry River was particularly pleasant for us. The park can get pretty busy. For folks with a state park pass, I recommend parking where the permit is required and avoiding the 2 hour visitor lot.

Amazing facilities and a great quick walk over to the upper and lower falls. At 9am on a Monday it was not very busy. The bathrooms were open but visitor center closed until 10am. Busy trail so prepare for company. Great viewing for such little effort. Hope to explore more next visit.

Gooseberry falls is so handy! Just off the highway, lots of free parking, the pathways are well defined, lots of steps, One pathway is under repair, lots of area to get out in the water! The bugs weren't bad at all, temp was 67- 70. Great day to explore! There's the upper falls, and then under the bridge, it's spread out, but a place to play for kiddos! Dog friendly! Lots of places to sit!

This is a great place! Easy to get to lots of little hikes that you can do. You can pretty much go wherever you want on these gorgeous falls. I love that there is no restrictions. You can wherever or climb wherever in this gorgeous area. There are about 45 really good waterfalls right around this area within a short hike.

I was raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul and for the last 11 years have been making 3-4 trips a year to the beautiful North Shore from Fargo, ND. Making Gooseberry a stop is a BIG must. Bring your best walking shoes, lots of water and your fur kiddo if you got one. It’s a beautiful park, full of adventure. If you make it at the right time, the falls will mesmerize you- and if you don’t, just come back another time 🥰 The gift shop has something for everyone to take home. Be prepared to wait in lines for restrooms- it gets busy here! Also, be prepared for a walk once you park, if you find parking! Most days are good but during busy times of the year it can be hard. Enjoy you visit and take care of our beautiful North Shore ♥️

Wow! I love this place so much. The walk is short and they've got a great shop with really some of the nicest shirts and sweatshirts and t-shirts and trinkets I have ever seen. It was my birthday so my husband bought me a beautiful rust color North shore sweatshirt and a burgundy gooseberry Falls sweater that was stunning and I've gotten compliments on it since. We walked all around the falls got in 17,000 steps It is beautiful. You can walk as hard and long as you want but plan on taking a lot of pictures. There was a lot of people there so you have to take your time and be patient to get pictures without a lot of other people in the background. I highly recommend it I would love to come back here once every few years as it is beautiful and different in each time of the year. The last time we were here my son was in UMD and it was winter. Totally different experience this time. I will say the waterfalls are much more beautiful this time of year They get rusty color from the leaves in early winter.

My spouse and I were pleasantly surprised to find so many folks visiting Gooseberry Falls on a cold October morning. Just goes to show the lure of this state park! Excellent trails and an overall fun experience to walk around the river and the surrounding paths and campground. Parking at the visitor center is also free. Great for my dog as well. Highly recommend!

Such an amazing gem on the north shore. Plenty of trails. And it was totally worth the state park pass to have lunch on a rock bed of lake superior. The falls were so pretty! And it was nice that our furry four legged buddy could come with along the trails. Just a note though dogs were not allowed into the visitor center unless it's a service dog.

I believe this was my fifth visit to Gooseberry and I find it more impressive each time. The mid-July wildflowers were particularly stunning as well as the vast, rugged shore. If at all possible, push past the falls and explore further. The trails are not overly difficult but are filled with fabulous vistas.

This was such a nice hiking trail, with easy access to so many falls! The location can't be beat. They had a really nice shop with souvenirs and the bathrooms were clean. There are some paths that are wheelchair accessible, and there is plenty of "off roading" rock hopping available for folks who want to risk wet shoes! Will definitely come back if ever in the area.

Very easy hike. You could take a wheelchair down some of the the paved trails. Walking down the trails you see many native flowers and fauna and little dugouts in some of the rock face. There is an upper falls and a lower falls area. I had fun running around on the flat rocks and climbing the bigger rocks once we got to the falls. It is beautiful with many little falls.
