What a treasure this place is. I’ve been going to Rascal’s family restaurant for over a decade and I had never tried Taste of Thaiyai which is next door. Frankly, I actually prefer this Thai place over Rascals now. The food is excellent and generous. The Tom Yum was Yummy. The spring rolls were excellent. The wings were perfect. The beef curry was very complex and tasty. Also had the shrimp salad and it was fresh and light. They were very busy for a Wednesday evening and there were a lot of take out orders as well. The entire restaurant was full yet the staff was friendly and professional. The service I give a solid A+ My only regret is not having tried Taste of Thaiyai sooner. Exceptional. Updating Aug 17, 2023 I’ve been here for another 8-10 times since my first review. This place has continued to be consistently good and has even gotten better. Tonight we had the Tom Kha, special spring rolls, duck curry, beef curry and it was all excellent. Service is friendly and quick. A+ again!

Solid place for food, great and unique selection of dishes that set it apart from other similar restaurants. They got your standard pad thai, but they also got a selection of less known dishes. Definitely a place to try out!

What a treat! Lovely people serving awesome food. It is the little details that tell you how good a place is. The delightful dipping sauce with crushed peanuts that accompanied the spring rolls was layered with flavors and textures (vs. the usual sweet slurry in many joints). The Tom Yum had just the right level of tartness and was a big hit even with the kids. The staff is courteous and attentive- they nailed the spice level for each one of us. This is five stars for the value for money (shrimp entree was still at $15.99 after all the recent inflation) combined with the service and food quality. The decor is spartan but it’s neat and clean.

Very good food! The best part? We loved the crab Thai fried rice. It was delicious and the portion was huge so we got to share it. We also ordered a beef curry which was also good. The worst part? Not much to say otherwise. Maybe it could be a little cleaner but honestly, I’d have no problem returning.

This place was great. Tried a variety of dishes and would order them all again. Quick service and large portions, too.

Drove past this place and saw the great reviews after looking it up, so I had to try! I ordered online to pickup which was very convenient. Large quantities for the price and the egg rolls were some of the best I’ve had! The dipping sauce was delicious and the egg rolls were so flavorful. I also ordered the pad se lew with chicken at a medium spice level. Great flavor and the spice was perfect for me. The chicken was a little dry but overall it was still delicious. I definitely will come back!

Taste of Thai Yai is our favorite local Thai restaurant. The food is pretty consistent and always fresh! We’ve always called ahead and done pick-ups at the restaurant. They tend to be very busy in the evenings, so expect a 20-30 minute wait for picking up your order. Their pad Thai is classic - super flavorful and generous portions. My only complaint is that sometimes their noodle dishes can get very oily. Not every time, but I’d say maybe 20% of the time I have to drain the oil from my noodles. Otherwise it looks at the bottom and makes the second half of the dish a little gross. We love their cream cheese wontons, the pad see ew, and the khaki pad bai kra pow (spicy basil fried rice). They once gave us the wrong fried rice, but it’s been great every other time. Overall, we’ve had very good experiences here and will keep coming back!

Best Thai place in Apple Valley! Maybe even in Twin Cities ❤ Never had a bad meal there. Both fried and fresh spring rolls are the perfect start to the meal. I LOVE their veggie curry. A ton of great looking vegetable. Taste on point. Try it!

SOOO GOOD! What a hidden gem. The wait staff were so incredibly kind and accommodating! We shared an appetizer of Spring rolls which were so fresh and yummy. I had a curry dish served medium heat and it was perfect! I can't wait to go back. Thank you!

This place was so yummy. We got here late after a tournament and even though it was late, they were super nice and welcoming. We got the chicken egg rolls and they were crispy and light. I tried my staple of pad see ew and it was amazing. We also got the green curry and it was very flavorful. Everything was very clean and it there was only one other table there since it was so late. It was very nice to get such great food and service, especially with it being so late.

I very good family owned restaurant! The woman who took our order was very polite and she explained us the dishes very well as this was our first time ordering from here. We got one of the dishes made from silver noodles and it was yummmm! The spice level was just as we expected and not too spicy. Liked the way the vegetables were cooked.

Take out is always delicious. Got the ram long song recently, a peanut sauce with spinach, and I’m definitely going to be back soon. Great vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free options. Highly recommend, there’s something for everyone!

Amazing cuisine, quickly prepared. I ordered takeout and they let me schedule a time in advance to have it ready by. The house specialty spring rolls are GIANT and tastey. Their curry is also delicious. Dishes can be adjusted easily. Definitely want to stop by again to try more dishes.

I've been going here now off and on for 15 years and they have the best Thai food that I have had so far in the Twin Cities, including the absolute hands down best spring rolls! The service is always prompt and your food comes out swiftly. Portions are plentiful. You know the food must be good in order for them to be in business in that location for this long.

Love this place! The special egg rolls are some of the best I had around the area. I usually do pick up, and they are fast and have not messed up my order. I would highly recommend this spot if you love Thai food.

First visit - we waited near the entrance for 9-10 minutes until someone told us we could have a seat at any table. We were not given menus for over 10 minutes. Once we ordered, we received our appetizers and my food in a very quick time frame - within 15 minites of ordering, however the rest of my family waited over 45 minutes to receive just 2 of their meals which made this a bad experience for our first visit. They did comp 1 meal from our bill, and sadly we did not have extra time to have them sit and enjoy their meal as we had spent an hour of waiting. The staff was very friendly - just miscommunication between the servers and cooks. Cream Cheese puffs are awesome! 😊

I love it but why won't they give out Sweet N Sour sauce? Every time I order Eggrolls and specifically ask for Sweet N Sour, they give me peanut sauce. Every time. And then when you catch it and ask for Sweet N Sour they give you cups that are barely filled. Why won't they give out the Sweet N Sour?

I'll be honest I've lived in Apple Valley area for over a decade and one of my biggest regrets is not eating here sooner. This is the definition of a hole in the wall with amazing food. What we ordered... Special Egg Roll, Cream Cheese Wantons, Thai Fried Rice Hot and Pad Thai. Cons... the inside isn't very fancy, atmosphere is meh and all food came at same time including apps. That is it. Pros... The service was quick and friendly. The food came out quick and value is very good The egg rolls were great and the sauce on the side was amazing. The wantons were delicious and had great sweetness to them. The Thai Fried Rice was amazing and probably some of the best I've had. Very spicy and great flavor overall. My wife enjoyed the Pad Thai and while not my jam, I still thought it pretty good. I'll be here again and will be making this place a regular.

Food was not good. Seafood was old. Shrimp was rubbery, fried rice was sweet, spring roll was pre-made and almost frozen. Barely ate any of the food, management didn't even offer a refund. Charged us full price of $64. I will never go back there.

The service was chaotic and all the food doesn’t arrive at the same time. Servers were also wearing coats. A few minor upgrades would really help the overall experience. Get rid of the table numbers, put up a screen in the corner to hide all the wire mess. A shirt with the name of the restaurant would help too. Food wise the spring rolls were good. We didn’t like the sauce. The papaya salad was good. The pad see ew was okay and the same with the green curry. The rice was average. I’d try again, but probably for take out.
