Review
I
scheduled
an
ER
appointment
with
St.
Rose
Siena
Hospital
Emergency
Room
the
night
of
Friday,
10-14-2022.
The
appointment
DID
make
the
emergency
room
wait
much
easier
and
we
were
taken
back
and
seen
almost
immediately.
That
is
the
reason
they
earned
one-star
instead
of
the
negative
rating
I
wanted
to
give
for
the
care
I
received.
We
were
at
the
emergency
room
because
our
local
Urgent
Care
which
saw
me
on
Wednesday
night,
recommended
an
Emergency
Room
should
my
symptoms
escalate.
And
by
Friday
night,
they
did
escalate.
Like
all
emergency
rooms
in
the
valley,
they
were
busy
on
this
Friday
evening
-
but
not
flooded.
My
issue
was
not
a
life
emergency,
but
exceeded
what
an
Urgent
Care
could
accomplish,
maybe
necessitated
a
hospital
admittance
for
IV
care
and
a
specialist,
and
doctor’s
offices
were
closed.
We
spent
about
6
hours
at
this
Emergency
Room,
which
gave
us
about
seven
(7)
minutes
total
with
the
doctor,
who
did
NOTHING.
Most
of
the
night’s
care
was
by
an
excellent
nurse,
who
appeared
to
know
I
was
a
bit
upset
by
the
negligence
and
tried
to
make
up
for
the
doctor’s
lack
of
contact.
This
male
nurse
was
quite
wonderful
and
did
a
great
job.
The
female
doctor,
however,
spent
5-6
hours
wasting
our
time,
while
running
around
and
avoiding
us.
She
finally
came
in
and
said,
“I’m
arranging
a
transport
for
you
to
Sunrise
Hospital
by
ambulance
because
we
have
no
hand
specialists
on
call
and
they
do,”
and
then
immediately
dashed
off,
as
I
shouted
behind
her,
“No
ambulance,
my
son
will
drive
me,
and
anywhere
except
Sunrise
or
UMC.”
But
she
was
gone.
Gratefully,
I
appreciated
the
male
nurse
running
her
down
and
expressing
my
concerns.
The
nurse
came
back
and
gave
me
a
paper
that
gave
me
a
“Golden
Ticket”
(he
called
it)
to
an
immediate
admittance
without
waiting
in
the
emergency
room
at
Sunrise,
due
to
personal
transport.
He
also
said,
Sunrise
was
the
only
hospital
with
an
on-call
hand
surgeon
for
the
night.
This
turned
out
to
not
be
true,
but
I
appreciated
his
efforts.
My
complaint
is
–
the
doctor
barely
even
looked
at
my
arm
the
first
few
minutes
I
was
there.
She
had
already
made
the
decision
to
not
treat
me
and
send
me
elsewhere,
and
yet,
held
me
in
Emergency
for
six
hours,
in
pain
and
without
any
update
on
her
opinion
of
my
injury,
further
treatment
options,
or
other
care.
Six
hours!
UNACCEPTABLE!
She
knew
no
treatment
was
going
to
be
offered
to
me.
She
even
said,
“We
don’t
have
specialists
on-call,
we
have
to
send
you
elsewhere.”
Why
not
tell
me
that
when
I
arrived,
or
within
at
least
an
hour
or
so?
If
she
had
at
least
given
me
an
opinion,
my
option
would
have
been
any
other
hospital,
NOT
Sunrise
or
UMC,
for
obvious
reasons
–
they
both
have
bad
reputations
for
patient
care.
Just
read
the
Yelp
reviews.
Sadly,
Siena
had
become
my
go
to
hospital
because
I
loved
the
daily
procedure
care
I
received
there.
I
wish
I
had
known
the
Emergency
Room
care
was
so
bleak.
I
would
have
readily
selected
some
other
hospital
for
ER
care.
