I
stayed
here
years
ago,
and
appreciated
the
attention
to
detail
which
one
pays
for
at
a
hotel
like
this,
and
which
one
should
have
the
right
to
expect
at
this
price-point.
That
attention
to
detail
seems
to
have
disappeared.
The
room
was
well
decorated,
but
cloth
window
curtains
in
the
shower?
No
charging
points
free
for
phones?
There
was
very
little
to
welcome
me
to
my
room.
Filtered
water
in
glass
bottles,
with
a
strict
sign
saying
that
I
would
be
charged
15E
for
removing
one.
No
refreshments,
ok,
so
I
head
to
the
bar,
after
hunting
down
someone
to
get
my
room-key
(no
one
at
the
desk)
at
10:50PM
where
the
man
working
the
bar
is
taking
orders
from
other
guests,
but
informs
me
the
bar
is
closed.
I
say
that’s
fine
but
I
am
thirsty
after
travelling
and
there
is
nothing
in
my
room.
He
begrudgingly
says
he
can
“try”
to
get
me
a
drink.
He
brings
me
a
diet
soda
with
no
ice
and
after
pouring
it
asks
me
if
I
want
ice.
Bizarre.
Breakfast
was
a
similar
shambles.
While
presented
visually
well,
I
had
no
time
between
courses
before
it
was
all
brought
to
the
table
at
once,
which
was
unwieldy.
The
scrambled
eggs
were
not
scrambled,
it
was
a
plate
of
dry,
mashed
up
sautéed
massacred
egg.
I
originally
asked
for
a
carafe
of
water
and
I
got
a
glass.
I
asked
for
my
glass
to
be
refilled,
and
that
waiter
simply
disappeared.
So,
after
20
minutes,
I
asked
the
host
(a
different
man)
for
another
glass
of
water,
and
this
time
he
returned
with
a
carafe,
which
was
dropped
on
the
table,
unceremoniously.
Curiously,
my
coffee
top-up
then
came
with
a
milk
jug
filled
with
boiling
water.
I
still
don’t
understand
what
I
was
meant
to
do
with
that,
I
couldn’t
bother
to
find
out
at
this
point.
I
checked
my
bags,
so
I
could
take
a
stroll
through
the
jardin
de
luxembourg
before
catching
my
train.
My
large
canvas
tote
had
been
left
in
the
lobby,
open
for
all
to
see
or
pick
through,
my
new
suit,
thankfully,
had
been
hung
in
the
back.
Trying
to
explain
this
to
the
front
desk
was
like
pulling
teeth,
in
both
English
and
French
-
I
was
pressed
for
time
at
this
point
and
entirely
out
of
patience.
The
reception
person
insisted
my
suit
was
in
my
room.
I
explained
I
had
checked
out
earlier,
which
is
why
my
suit
and
baggage
were
with
reception,
the
penny
seemed
to
drop
that
the
suit
would
have
been
hung
somewhere,
and
the
man
eventually
went
behind
the
desk
and
retrieved
my
suit.
He
then
asked
me
to
settle.
I
explained
I
had
settled
up
earlier,
when
I
stored
my
bag
at
reception.
He
apparently
did
not
believe
me,
and
demanded
to
know
my
room
number.
I
gave
it
to
him,
which
I
guess
satisfied
him,
as
I
rushed
out
the
door
to
catch
my
Eurostar.
I
will
not
stay
at
this
hotel
again,
while
rich
in
material
for
a
comedy
of
errors,
the
price
no
longer
equates
to
quality,
and
the
staff
are
openly
rude
and
slovenly.
