The birthplace of, and story + art of Piet Mondriaan. A nice collection of art, story, and activity (for kids) in this museum. A great visit for 1-2 hours. It was nice that some art of another artist was displayed as well. My daughter really enjoyed the video room, and coloring in the style of Mondriaan after the art collection! Centered in the city so easy to go for lunch or shopping afterwards. All in all definitely a recommendation from me of this house, focussed on the life of such a important person for "the style" Movement.

Quick overview of Mondrian's work, from begining until his death. During week day was quite empty. There are quite some stairs, but i didn't pay attention of there's also an elevator. Good to check if you need any accessibility help. This museum accepts museum card.

I like this museum. They have very goood exhibition about Piet Mondrian’s life and awesome cinema room on the top floor, I liked it a lot! There is a cafe and small souvenir shop with nice things. I wish they have more information about ideas that he expressed in his art. It’s free with museumcard.

Behind the original centuries old façade in gorgeous Amersfoort, is a spacious, modern museum with impressions from mondriaan's life, work and being, through images, objects of and paintings by Mondriaan and other artists.

Fabulous use of the birthplace of Mondrian to showcase his story and the evolution of his work. Light, airy and with fresh colors. Don’t miss this gem on the canal.

Totally loving this museum. It shows a comprehensive look on Mondriaan’s life and evolution of art. The museum is divided into different rooms showcasing Mondriaan’s journey with stories and some interactive tolls as well.

Super interactive museum, you get a free audio guide with your ticket which is free with museum card. You'll learn about Mondriaan's life, his early art stages, his recent art and more. There's a recreation of his studio and in the last room there's a transparent cube with projections that is a total show 🙌🏼

I had very low expectations of this place but was really pleasantly surprised. The exhibitions are in a logical sequence and well labelled and explain much. The staff are superb and really pleasant and helpful. The building has been well restored and modernised and is within easy access of the rest of Amersfoort centrum.

Really lovely experience! Not busy at all even though we were there in the weekend. We bought tickets in advance with student discount. There were lockers where you could put your back and also a cute gift shop and café. The videos were great, we really loved it!

A lovely insight into Mondrian's life and philosophy, especially if you speak Dutch and French and you can appreciate the many documents. Don't expect to see the classic works here, though there are reproductions of them everywhere, including in a very cool animation at the end. Definitely worth the visit. The English translations could do with some work (compared to the original Dutch and German translation, both of which I understand). I think for international visits it would also be nice if they translated more of the secondary material, but I think it's completely enjoyable without.

Our last minute decision to take a detour on our way back to Rotterdam really paid off. This is a lovely little museum, where the work of Mondrian is presented in innovative ways that make this a most enjoyable experience.

Really lovely exhibition, particularly the video and projector installations. The experience in total lasted around 1 hour and does not contain any of his most famous works and so I think the price is a bit high. The museum is generally insightful and has a creative way of showing you how Mondriaan lived and his development as an artist is clearly shown. Overall enjoyable but I found it a bit expensive for the amount of content.

A nice museum about the life of Mondriaan. A variety of exhibits keeps you busy for at least an hour. I enjoyed the extra exhibition on birds and fish as well.

Fantastic museum with a lot of well thought out displays. Clear labelling and spacing between objects, Interactive and innovative approaches to depicting Mondrians life and work. The French gentleman volunteer who explained many things to my group was definitely the highlight of our visit however

Excellent place to learn about the life of one of the most influential abstractists. Staff was also super friendly and helpful, too!

  • 4/5 Frans C C. 1 year ago on Google
Focus on the life of the painter. But also a very worthwhile exhibit towards the end that makes one experience the development of the painters art through time in an original audiovisual experience room. Recommended. (And they have coffe and cakes etc too.)

Amazed by the Mondriaan museum. Loved the start and the finale audio visual presentation. It was too good and an immersive experience.

Takes around an hour to see the whole place. Thoughtful exhibits and great multimedia additions. Exhibits from local artists inspired by Mondrian and a recreation of his studios make this with a visit.

Excellent museum: quite small, but it tells the story well, has some interactive exhibits and is very family friendly! Their Mondriaan art projection room and the creativity room are an absolute delight (and a lifesaver to parents!). The cafe has excellent mint tea and apple tart. Overall, highly recommended, you can easily spend 2-4h there!

Very well done overview of Mondriaan's life in the house where he spent his childhood. Not many of his paintings, but earlier ones. Can be done in 30 to 60 minutes. Make sure you don't miss the cube experience on the top floor.

Great tour, showing his early work and personal development. It lacks modern works unfortunately.

  • 5/5 Arjen van W. 2 years ago on Google
Very nice! we visited the museum some 6 years ago and it was boring. Now we were absolutely surprised. it was dynamic, interesting, nice. Hugely improved!!

  • 5/5 Deborah H. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely museum. Really interesting and well appointed. Some early Mondriaan sketches and paintings. Would have loved to see an original of one of the well known ones, but I suspect that is well out of their price range. The highlight was the final show which really put the art into perspective as to the time and place and culture. It made Mondriaan's work truly come alive. And if that wasn't amazing enough you exit into a studio where you can create your own Mondriaan inspired art If you desire! Lovely staff too. A great afternoon.

An interesting museum that manages to make Mondrian's life accessible in an original and experiential way. Suitable for the whole family.

  • 4/5 Letizia C. 2 years ago on Google
Small museum in the birthplace of Mondrian, that doesn't exhibit artworks from the painter but it tells about its life. Very nice video installation. Temporary exhibitions are also present. The last room is used for workshops and art activities.

This is the place where Piet Mondriaan was born. Is a small museum where you can learn the story of the artist, and there are some work piece of his youth. Really interesting the multimedial part, especially the one in the room 6.

Really awesome, some of the rooms really put you in the shoes of the artist. Absolutely worth it and would visit it again!
