A find! Was seeking a pub that was welcoming to customers of all ages. Thomas (pictured) and owner Sean (who serves a mean Guinness beef stew) greeted me with warmth and kindness. The surrounding pubs made it clear they didn't like travelers or peeps over 50. Not here. From their greetings to locals and tourists alike this is a spot to relax, have a great conversation and feel 100% that they are glad you're here. Loved my dinner and my new found friends!

Fantastic, friendly service. The Sixpence has a great pub menu and the meat pies are out of this world! Cocktails are mixed with care and the wine list while small is well balanced and everything is very drinkable. Serves pints and has a good range of beers on tap. Haven't gotten to the Whiskey collection yet, but that is extensive!

Love this pub, service was awesome, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Food was an added bonus and certainly lives up to great pub cooking! I will be going back again and again !

I fail to understand the reason for such great ratings. The food (starters and main course) were on the mean side, just lots of bread to compensate plus the mash was cold! So much for the attention to detail that fellow reviewers mention all the time. Add finger food without serviettes (had to ask for some like in most Dutch places) and the empty soap dispenser in the toilet then you'll guess why I'll stick to my local pub, thank you very much.

I've been here several times already and for now I can say that it is a decent bar for drinks and eat. Good beer, normal prices and the service is great.

We had a reservation for dinner through the website, but when we arrived there was plenty of room so we opted for a bar high top table for the pub vibe with the football match playing. A few loud patrons singing, but hey it’s a pub, so to be expected. The bar-woman was great, very attentive, and the food was very good. Separately, I would rate the food 4/5, but all factors considered, the pub was a 5/5.

Moody and roomy, Shelby is a good place to drink a few and enjoy a quiet conversation with friends. It's amazing that these places still exist so close to the Grote Markt madness. I will definitely visit again.

Great place, the ribs and beers were great. Live music was a bit too loud, making it hard to chat with friends, but otherwise still had a great time.

Good atmosphere, nice food, lots of beer. Service was quick even though it was busy. Though the amount of cocktails we got were on the low side. Normally the volume is a bit more. But overal a good experience.

One of the best bars in the city center with a good vibe and opportunity to play snooker. The service is welcoming and smiling. Recommended for spending time after a difficult day!

Very cool pub with great music and nice atmosphere, great for spending the evening for some drinks or pub food. The beer selection is quite vast as well as the choices for food. I absolutely suggest the sweet potato fries with parmesan on top, really delicious. The staff was also super friendly, despite the large amount of customers to be served, and they helped us choosing a whiskey since we are not experts at all. It would help to have a whiskey menu though!

Amazing place! Great entourage, fantastic service, the food is... oh my gosh I don't even have words... God Bless the chefs, brilliant music. We had the best night. Definately coming back!

Extremely long waiting times for a drink. Wife had to wait 30 minutes before being served. Food was a little over priced but wasn't the worst. They switched the football game off on 93 minutes with five minutes stoppage time.

Such a lovely place. Amazing music, feels like it was carefully selected. Thomas and Shaun were amazing hosts of the day. Great drinks selection. Down for whiskey or whisky? It's a place. Design of the place is fantastic. Calm colours, not too little and not too much. Worth the visit if you in den haag or worth the after work drink if you need to calm down your inner deamons. Excellent.

Last Thursday I was enjoying a fine beer at Hoppzak when I realized I didn’t have diner yet so I decided to try Six Pence right next door. The friendly Irish owner invited me in and gave me a perfect quiet table where the great Italian staff served me a good glass of wine and an amazing sirloin steak. I’ll come back for sure to this nice Irish styled pub with skilled kitchen staff.

Had a great time here! I'd definitely recommend the chicken wings to accompany your cold pint!

My friends and I came here on whim and were pleasantly surprised to find great seats with amazing views of the sports as we had come to watch the Euros. The waiters were flexible and allowed us to move seats around. The snacks were great valued and well portioned. Highlight was the sweet potato fries for 4 euro, which my 3 friends and I shared. Definitely worth coming for a pint or to watch sports with colleagues/friends!

Came here before a UEFA 2020 football match hoping to find a seat, luckily there were some free spots that had not been reserved. Atmosphere is really cozy with some tasteful Peaky Blinder's references. Food/snacks are really reasonably priced and a nice variety of drinks. Staff is very attentive and friendly, even during busy times. Would come here again!

Spent the weekend in Den Haag, which also meant we spent the weekend in Sixpence! Sean and his team; Thomas, Chico, Zoe, Cameron, Christian and Tornieke were the best hosts we could have asked for, all very very friendly and full of laughs. Food and drink were excellent! Would highly recommend a visit!

Had a fantastic weekend in The Hague and Sixpence was definitely a highlight. The staff Zoe , Tornieke, Christian, Cameron, Chico and Thomas were all great! 11/10 would recommend. Ah

We visited yesterday and what a night, it was an awesome experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with low lighting, and a friendly staff. The pub was crowded in a good way, buzzing. it was easy to navigate the space and find a spot at the bar or at one of the tables. One of the highlights of Sixpence was the pool table, which was well-maintained and located in the back of the pub. It was a great way to break up the evening and have some fun with friends and strangers. Another standout feature of Sixpence was its impressive selection of whiskeys. The bar had an extensive menu of Irish, Scotch, and American whiskeys, as well as some lesser-known options that were worth trying. The knowledgeable bartenders were happy to provide recommendations and help us navigate the menu. We ended the night with a old fashioned. Like a good night should. Overall, I would highly recommend Sixpence to anyone looking for a cozy Irish pub with a pool table and a great selection of whiskeys.

My favorite bar in the Hague. Best Guiness on tap. The service is fantastic as well as the owner. All are helpful and professional. The food is delivered quickly and it's always tasty. Great place to spend evening with couple of friends or even by yourself.

It is an amazing pub⭐️ I only had the chicken wings and they were fantastic. The menu that they offer looks great, so I am keen to go again and try some other food. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

Great place!! Loved it - food is English, so it has its own flare so to say (not blamazing but fairly eatable for sure!). Service is the best ever and it's open when others are closed so... Thank you, you saved our evening!

Great Pub, nicely decorated, super tasty food. Fast and friendly service. We had the Cheeseburger pie, Ribs and Beef&Stout Stew, just perfect! Wanting to try everything on the menu. 100% recommended

No regret, cozy pub. IPA draft beer and sweet potato. if you need to get some relax time, this pub is the place for that. just one thing to consider. the tables,.. always full.

One of the best places in town! Best slow cook ribs I’ve ever had, the meat quite literally fall of the bones. Drinks are amazing with very good pricing. Highly recommend for a date night, or just having a few pints with the friends!

The place was good and service was nice. But giving 1 star because of the not so detailed menu. My wife is allergic to egg and we ordered a cocktail Negroni from the menu. The ingredients never mentioned that it will have egg in it. When she drank it , she felt something is wrong and asked the person he said yes it had egg. They should write all the details and mention everything as other person can be allergic to something. Also we could not sleep the whole night because of extreme stomach ache.
