We really enjoyed the show! the girls in the local outfit were absolutely gorgeous and great dancers! We contacted Shashika via Google chat and he was able to reserve the best seats in the theatre for us. He definitely made the difference in our experience!

Book in advance and discounts might be possible. If you are small getting a reserved spot on the front rows or above would be ideal because to the back it might be difficult to see. I think the price is a bit high for what it is but it was still enjoyable. Some parts need to be better rehearsed by the performers. It would be nice to have a small introduction explaining what we are about to see and its significance for Sri Lanka. If you are in Kandy this is probably one of the best activities to do.

This place performs daily Cultural Dance Show and this is very famous with foreigners. The Cultural Show starts by 4:30pm and finish by 5:30pm. As the place is just next to Kandy Tooth Relic Temple, this is easy location to go for the foreigners to go to see temple after the dance show. The location also having very nice overlooking the Kandy Lake and by the evening time, the road is very busy as no place to park due to lot of foreigners coming to see the dance show. So, better go little early, if go closer to 4:30pm, very difficult to park and once the parking on the road is full, police not allow enter the vehicles to the road. Cultural Dance Show is very especial event which will demonstrate Sri Lanka traditional dancing styles, and the show also include some especial practices like fire eating, and fire walking.

Touristic but ok the LKR 2000.- for 1 hour live traditional music, dancing and some actrobatics. The performers are good! Take a seat at the balcony once you're in, the view is better. We did not make a reservation and there were sufficient seats.

After a long day we really enjoyed this traditional dance, music, cultural show. We discovered that the Cultural Centre is the first Cultural Dance Show of its kind to be established in Sri Lanka. It gave a nice display and insight into Sri Lankan arts.

Ignore the negative reviews. This place is fantastic - if you go with ridiculous expectations of course nothing will ever meet it. But this performance is beautiful, enthusiastic, culturally significant, and all around well curated for an hours worth of entertainment. Should not be missed, and is well priced.

An enjoyable experience from every performance. The show lasted an hour with 7-8 sessions. Would love to know some background on each dance. We booked in advance with Shashika through WhatsApp for a discount and reserved seats.

This cultural show/event is to showcase the cultural heritage of Kandy. The dancers perform to traditional music played by different types of drums. This event ends with the fire walk on charcoals. It happens everyday between 5pm-6pm It is timed in a way to capture the visitors who are visiting Temple of the Tooth in the evening. It will cost you LKR 1000 per person which is bit too steep for the quality of the performance. (For front row seats contact your hotel or driver/ travel assistant) Some dancers looked disinterested and not much coordination was seen among the artists. could have been much better if organised in a better way. I have seen better performances, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Great family show, fun insight to local folklore and customs for the kids! Special kudos to Shasika for organising tickets and the best seats in the house!

Thoroughly entertained by the show here. Tickets were a breeze with Shashikas WhatsApp correspondence. Make sure to WhatsApp and reserve with him directly to get the best seats and a discount. Thought it was a scam, but nope it's their official tickets :)

Great performance to visit with kids! We really enjoyed the dance and fire show! It would be great if there was introduction to each dance, because the sequence doesn't always follow the brochure (that can be picked up at the entrance, offered in many languages) Nice costumes! Make sure to get the tickets in advance. I got ours through WhatsApp and we had seats reserved in the front row.

This experience was absolutely amazing, the dancers and musicians are so talented and friendly and it really tells a wonderful story. We booked through Shashika who we spoke with on WhatsApp and he organised everything so efficiently and reserved us the best seats in the house. I would recommend this experience to everyone

We decided to visit the show at short notice. They responded promptly to our WhatsApp messages and even reserved seats for us on the balcony. The show was very impressive. We loved the musicians and the different dances and costumes. The acrobatics we're amazing and the finale was very exciting. We were mesmerised for the whole hour. Great fun, highly recommended.

What a great experience in Kandy. Traditional cultural dance show, all the performers are very talented and we had a great night. Special mention to the fire walkers, that was incredible. Our Tuk Tuk driver arranged us seats and didn’t need to book in advance. A must see when in Kandy. Definitely recommend.

We enjoyed the show, it was good entertainment and an interesting cultural activity. It's a plus in a trip! Special thanks to Mr. Shashika (contacted by whats app with the number associated with the Google page) who helped us organize the activity and get excellent seats in the room. They can also help you with other activities, it was very professional and helpful!

Had a interesting cultural experience! Booking was super easy, wrote the number (shasika), just the displayed number here, at 4 pm and got very good seats (with reservation) from him! And guiding was also perfect onsite with pictures in the whatsapp chat! I would recommend it to everyone who has some time between 5 and 6 pm to watch that show in Kandy! Ask him also for a One-Day-TukTuk-Tour! Was amazing! (Incl. Ambulawaw Tower, Tea, Gem Fac., Botanic Garden,...) with english speaking driver.

Fantastic energetic dance and drumming troupe. A real cultural highlight. The venue was hot with most best seats booked in advance, while we just turned up 30 minutes prior to the show and found good views upstairs.

We read about this show online and got in touch by WhatsApp. Shashika was very efficient and replied right away, offering us a discount and front, central seats. We highly recommend pre booking as the place does get full! Beautiful dances and costumes, not to miss!

What a great show! We recommend this show so much. There is no better place to see the spectacular and famous Kandyan Dance. Short walking distance to the Temple of roth to see the evenings Puja after the show. Our contact to Shasika was great too. After requesting he organized us the best possible seats!

We were about to arrive in Kandy and were googling the famous Kandy Cultural shows. I dropped a WhatsApp with Shashika who promptly responded and reserved us two seats in the front row! One hour later there we were, enjoying the show, which was really nice, colourful and with skilled artists. I would definitely recommend it! :)

We purchased the tickets and saw the show. It was nice to see the local dancers, costumes. I wouldn’t compare it theaters..it’s more like a show but good though. Price 1.000 SR per person.

You can see traditional dancers here in the evening, it is a great show and was better than our group thought it might be. Some very good drummers and great dancers with a bit of plate spinning and fire tricks thrown in. Recommended.

So the price doubled... 1000 rupee per person. Think if you show up as the show starts you can maybe get non-reserved seats (3rd~4th row back from stage) for 500? Dancing itself was ok. Some of the dancers seemed to take it more seriously than others. Fire walking was pretty impressive though. Worth 1000 rupee not really... 500 sure~ this was the red cross one too. There are a few all together

Although verrry touristy, its a nice hour spent watching a typical Kandian dance performance, but nothing to cry over if missed. The snacks are majorly overpriced (500rs for a little bag of chips!). If you want good seats, come an hour early to reserve seats.

It's very touristy I wouldn't call it professional , if you're expecting something you'd find are an la show you will be dissappointed . But keeping in mind you're in sri lanka . The dancers look like they love dancing they put their hearts into it , it's cute and quaint . Some dances are better than others. And it's not always in unison. But with all this it was still a fun time and 1000 lkr is about 5 USD which is not that steep for an hour show

Was an amazing show to see. I really felt the sri lankan tradition and history. They play an amazing fireshow and dance with traditional clothes. Really worth the watch. The theater is a bit run down, entrance was unorginizied and not clear. The toilets are terrible and so dirty it smells like sewage.

We enjoyed it! We had low expectations because of the bad reviews, but with a lack of other activities we just went for it. Surprisingly fun, several nice dances were performed and the music/drums were also nice. We found it a pleasant entertainment for just 1000 roepies.

We were so lucky to get in touch with Shashika who reserved the best seats for the show ! He sent us tickets and pics of our reserved seats via WhatsApp before the show. The hall was full and we were just in front of the stage like VIP guests! The show was great and we enjoyed a lot. I highly recommend this cultural dance show! Thanks again Shashika !

Came in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Yes there were a few mishaps and the dancers weren't really synchronized but we had fun. Tickets are 1,000 rupees per person. The guy showing you to your seat will ask for a tip for some reason.

Amazing traditional show. I loved the performance and the costumes that show you the historical side of sri lanka, in terms of culture. There were several dances each was made for a specific purpose, and there was even a walking on fiery coal section. Definitely recommended.

If Kandyan dancing is your thing ... This will be perfect for you. The dances are fine, but a little more explanation might help. Some impressive gymnastics by the male dancers, and firewalking as well. At 2000lkr it's not a total rip off, and it's very close to the exit of the Relic of the Tooth. Your driver will probably insist you go, so he gets his free coffee and cake.

Worth to see it! Amazing performance.

  • 4/5 Carol A. 1 year ago on Google
Great show, with lovely and talented performers. The fire walking and breathing was the highlight. Only issue was the website and other online info shows a start time at 5:30pm and the show actually started at 5pm.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Complete tourist trap. Do not let your tuk tuk drivers take you here. Dancers out of time, talking on stage, filthy costumes. Even the dancers looked bored to be there. I’ve seen 3 year olds perform better dance shows.
