I give Jimmy's a 5, primarily for atmosphere. On the outside of the restaurant, I didn't know what to expect as it looks like it is part of a strip mall, but you enter and the lighting is dim and reminds you of a 1920s Era steak house/speak easy. I had the lentil soup and bbq pork sandwhich. Lots of meat and fried onions. Originally, I was going to give a 4 as it took a while to be seen once seated, but I will give them slack due to training a new waiter. I will go back again, just don't go if sleepy as it is a very cozy atmosphere.

Food was Amazing. Restaurant had a really nice ambiance! Service was Subpar. I had to ask for my Mashed potatoes to be brought out, which took about 20ush minutes. After I had already gotten the rest of my food. The waiter just wasn't on point. Being our first time there and our 1 year anniversary, kinda ruined it for us!

I like the newly updated interior. It's cozy but clean. The food is okay; our meat was slightly overcooked (pork chop), and the mashed potatoes weren't freshly made. The pork chop had only the carrots,no broccoli. French onion soup was tasty, but I've had better ones in the past. Kids' meals were decent. Their bread is pretty good, though.

My wife and I have been coming here for over 20 years. John has always greeted us warmly and feel welcomed. The staff, however , is a different story... Just kidding.. John and Maria up front are great, Rick, Cassie ,and Abby in the bar are fantastic, and Kelly and Nancy in the dining room are our treasures. Oh and by the way, the food is wonderful. I check the website almost everyday just to check out their creative specials

I have been here many times and the food has always been above average. Last night my meal was awful. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu. The description was what I received but shame on me for deciding that was acceptable. What was served was a flattened chicken breast with 2 pieces of ham and a piece of swiss cheese on top. $23.95. It had no flavor and was disgusting. I didnt complain at the time as I didn't want to upset my dad. The spinach on the side tasted better than the main part of the meal. I called when I got home and the hostess told me she'd let the chef know that chicken cordon bleu was not made correctly. This makes me laugh now at how ridiculous an answer that was. Oh well, never will I order "chicken cordon bleu" here again. The cauliflower mash is so delicious!

Our waitress was fantastic. The food came out perfectly cooked and everything tasted great. Close by a lot of the hotels and the recruitment center. Definitely recommend taking your graduate, or anyone, there for an amazing meal.

We came here bc my son whom just graduated from Great Lakes Navy Academy wanted a steak since he was "deprived" of regular food lol. It was a nice place, my son got a steak and he said there was not any flavor to it. The waitress was nice but def face paced.

Sorry but this place was not great. Appetizers were mediocre. Tuna was thin and dry and seemed like it was reheated. Calamari was chewy. Scampi was all oil and way overpowered with lemon. Steak was done nicely, to bad it was over charred and bitter. Definitely won't be going here again.

Wow, jimmy, i dont know who you are, but you run a great establishment. From the atmosphere, the food and hospitality. My friends and i couldn't have had a better experience! The steak was perfect, as well as our drinks. Our sever anne was wonderful, abby and izzy made some unbelievable drinks as well.. and we can't wait to come back with more of our friends and family. Cheers and have a happy new year to all your staff!

Do not waste your time here especially if you’re a person of color. We made reservations waited hours and then was seated in the back of the building in a corner near a register and bathroom. We ordered our food and found a dead BUG in the food. DO NOT VISIT spend your money elsewhere. Sidenote: the waitress was nice but under the influence. Never returning.

First time at Jimmy’s. Took an hour (if not more) after being seated for our order to be taken while everyone who arrived well after us was already eating/drinking. By the time we received our food everyone else had finished their meal and was packing up to leave.. We finally ordered and received our food, steak was tender but had zero flavor. Asked for a refill on water and soda, waited about 10 min and never got it, so we asked for the bill and left. Overall would not be back a second time.

Usually a classy place. Wife and I went to the bar for a drink and food around 4pm. There was a group of loudmouths at the bar with their young kids sitting at the bar. Surprised staff didn't address this. We left bar and asked for a table. Restaurant was quiet and food was excellent. Only issue was our sour server - was probably having a bad day. Not very friendly or welcoming. This is not typical for this place - was a bit surprised since most visits an excellent experience for family.

Literally my favorite restaurant in Libertyville! I absolutely love their food, my family has been going there for over 30 years! The lamb is amazing. The steaks, pork chops and prime rib are wonderful add al forno cheese or blue cheese or horseradish cheese crust to any steak. The Pasa dishes are huge and flavorful! Appetizer selection amazing, try the stuffed mushrooms or the Mediterranean shrimp in garlic. They have wonderful seafood selection. The portions are large, dinners come with homemade soup or salad (all homemade dressings), also vegetables and choice of potato or rice also homemade bread. The atmosphere is lovely and elegant, the staff is excellent! Wonderful selection of beers and mixed drinks! Attire is casual to dressy. Highly recommend this for a date night or the whole family! Book your special events in their large banquet room!

We had the best lunch here after my nephews graduation from Naval Station Great Lakes. Our waitress, Nancy, knew exactly how to make our group feel special - banter, great service, awesome recommendations, and support for our recent graduate. The food was delicious. We ordered a celebratory spread: porterhouse, Jimmy's pasta, lamb chops, stuffed mushrooms, calamari, cheesecake, Lemoncello cake. I would fully recommend this restaurant for anyone in the area!

Well, on our grand adventure to pick up our brand new sailor we decided that as a last hurrah before we departed back south, we would get some food. We stopped off at jimmy's charthouse and I must say it was a fantastic decision. The food was extraordinarily good presentation was beautiful. The price warranted the food, I'll be at a little expensive. The food was so worth it.. But that pales in comparison to our server. A fine gentleman named Alex who was absolutely on top of his game. He was very quick about making sure we were taken care of he was super polite, super courteous and a very knowledgeable. As much as I hope to never find myself back in this state if I do I believe that we are going to make this a absolute stop in our travels.

Don’t go here.Very dark atmosphere can hardly read the menu or see your food. “Hiding something?” We found a piece of metal dish scrubber shred in out stuffed mushrooms. The server spoke to the manager and took it off the bill but wasn’t very concerned about it other than that. No free dink, No 10% off ,No what can we do to fix it. Then the dinner I ordered the London broil with bordelaise came with a pasta sauce on it rather than what it was supposed to be. It was brought home for the dogs to enjoy! Just awful first time experience Never going back and telling everyone to stay away.

Very yummy food and big portions!!! Expect to pay at least $20 per dish but its worth it! Comes with soup or salad. Our waitress was a little condescending though:/ my brother took us and said that was the only that happened so Im guessing the rest of the staff are friendlier. I recommend the jimmy’s pasta

Our son, who just graduated boot camp, wanted steak. We found this restaurant and it was great. The atmosphere was really nice. It was actually hard to decide what to eat because the menu was awesome. Everything tasted great and the service was excellent. Nancy was our waitress - she is very personable and funny. The char-grilled calamari was listed as an appetizer today, and it was really good. The steaks we had were cooked perfectly. The lamb chops were amazing. The cheesecake was spectacular. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are around. Such a nice place. We already placed a reservation for tomorrow.

We sat in the bar area this time and had Izzy as our server. She's great! Super friendly and she offers awesome recommendations. It was very busy the evening we went and we had an extra loud party next to us, which is why i gave the atmosphere 4 stars instead of 5. But the food was delicious as were the drinks!

Food was pretty good but steak overcooked and scallop special was very overpowered by the horseradish. Not bad, just felt like a chain steakhouse. Pretty loud in the dining room and poor wine selection. Just a bit overpriced for what it is.

We chose to eat here to celebrate our sailor's graduation from Great Lakes. The atmosphere was perfect and our waitress was amazing. We all loved our dinners. We tried everything from octopus to steak. It was all very delicious!

This was our first experience eating at Jimmy's Charhouse and I was impressed with the food and the service. I had the biggest meaty Cuban sandwich that I had ever seen. The sandwich contained so much meat that it was impossible to eat with the bun on, had to eat it with a knife and fork. I'm a big eater but I had to get a Togo box since I only eat about half of the sandwich. Make no mistake, this was my best ever Cuban.
