My recent visit to Josephine's restaurant left me with mixed feelings. While the food itself was generally good, the timing of the meals was a significant issue. One dish arrived over 10 minutes behind the others, disrupting the dining experience. Additionally, the employee responsible for making coffee displayed a poor attitude, treating fellow staff members disrespectfully and constantly complaining. This unpleasant behavior was hard to ignore, making for an uncomfortable atmosphere. While the cuisine at Josephine was enjoyable, the dining experience was marred by issues in service and employee conduct, leaving room for improvement in overall customer satisfaction.

A very nice place in a good spot. Food is delicious so it is well worth a break during your city walk even just for a coffee. The terrace is nothing fancy but this is exactly what gives its charm compared to the neighbouring places. It is a gem in a great spot.

I had the 'Big Joe' and the recommended organic red wine. It was all good. It's a busy place, so forgive the wait. I also had a G&T, which, while good value was just ok. The place seemed to be popular with the locals which is usually a good sign. Would recommend it.

Stumbled upon this gem around the corner from my flat and gave it a try after noticing that almost every table was full (always a good sign). Wasn’t disappointed in the least bit. Friendly, fast, service, fresh, homemade food, reasonable prices, and good vibes all around. Clientele was a mix of locals, tourists, and local expats hanging out having drinks. You can also bring your dog and sit outside. I can imagine this place gets packed on the weekends (I went around 5pm on a Wednesday).

I really liked this place. The service was very fast, waitress was friendly and spoke perfect English. The food was quite cheap but very good. I had a warm dish - spaghetti with eggplant. It may sounds simple but it was very tasty and full of flavor. The place attracts trendy crowd, it is simply pleasant to sit around with a glass of wine. Drop by - you won’t regret it.

Superb staff, friendly and polite. Lovely little venue for sitting outside and traditional looking interior with relaxing background music and a view across the square outside. Menu full and incredibly well priced, fantastic artisan style breads and fresh meats and fruit. The best batatas frittas a must on any order.

Nice hangout spot. There is an open area outside, but we sat inside as it was a bit of a cold day. The staff was really friendly also. The Sangria was also really good ;)

I got a different burger than I ordered but still tasty. Pretty fast and friendly service.

Amazing spot. Half locals, half tourists (or at least people who speak English). The burger was great, around 10 euros but 4.5 extra for fries. Even the fries were amazing, I think that's a lot. Good spot for drinks, chats with friends

Cozy place, not too many tourists. So they didn't have an english Menu, but the staff could help us out with the selection. Food took a while to get to us, we we're all very satisfied with our dishes and drinks. Half of the dishes were either vegetarian or vegan. The Burgers looked decent for meat lovers. Seemed like there's something for everyone on the menu.

Nice charcuterie board, typical price beer. Not a bad place. Nice terrace.

Loved this place! Was opposite our hotel. Fab atmosphere, great people watching & the staff were just delightful. Good selection of local wines and beers - plus delicious food. Recommend the bifana 👌🏼

Best spot for a real delicious meal and a real good time. Definitely coming back for more!! My husband said the burger was the best he’s ever had. I can eat that sandwich every day.

The waiting time for breakfast is too long. We normally receive the main course for dinner much faster. The breakfast for this money is very simple and not tasty. The coffee taste is similar to instant coffee rather than something from the coffee machine.

Would 100% recommend. The food was brilliant, delicious and fresh and the customer service was just superb. Perfect for tourists and locals. Outdoor dining is also available, which was set up very nicely.

That was a burnt offering, not a meal. Oh no. Not tasty. Hello guys. Your reaction to my review is not totally correct. I did not request to not pay for the burger, but was suggesting to ask the cook, what he wants to charge for that burnt thing. Further: You just can't serve burnt food. It is unhealthy and a disgrace. So that's why you get a bad rating. I discovered late, that the bin was burned and then left it, of course. It doesn't matter how many other customers were satisfied. I was not. You need to respect that and delete not blame me of things I didn't say or do. If I experience bad did, as well as good food, I give feedback immediately. Why should I wait? Why should I not rate a bad meal? Just take my advice: Not serving bad food prevents bad ratings. Kind regards Robert

Found this place on our last night in Lisbon- fabulous 👌 We both said it was the best burger we ever had. Food was delicious and it was very reasonably priced. The waiter helped us to choose food and did not oversell. It was very busy when we arrived so it is recommended that you go into the restaurant itself to have yourself added to a waiting list- do not do what we did and sit at the first available table! 😉 Highly recommend this restaurant.

One of the best burgers I had in a while. Great selection of drinks and the price of the meals and drinks is also very good.

The pizza is OK I guess, but the price is REALLY nice, especially during a 2-for-1 end of the year/pandemic promotional period! Also - I appreciate places that allow me to buy large drinks (e.g. a 2 liter coke) for a reasonable price!

Very nice place. Clean and polite people. Excellent food. Not so expensive! When i travel to Lisbon again I make sure I visit again!

We had the best burgers we had in a while. The waitstaff was incredible and very attentive, there was a nice atmosphere, nice music and incredible food. It is like a hidden away pearl. Fantastic, popular with the locals and in a little corner of the square. We can't wait to come back another time

‼️in general ⭐⭐⭐⭐ loved the location, good portions, not 5 stars for the prices 🥪 toast ⭐⭐⭐⭐ they come with a side dish, usually salad (but some are different, so have a look to the menu), the one I took, Brie and walnuts was very good!! highly recommend. I took 1 ⭐ off for the price 👥 staff ⭐⭐⭐ well nothing bad to be said here, but nothing special neither 📍 surroundings ⭐⭐⭐⭐ in one of the best spots of arroios, very beautiful, but as soon you get out of this street, the quality pitfalls... ‼️from time to time people will ask you for coins 😪 🛋️ atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐ as said, the location is lovely, but the bar itself is kinda basic.

Extremely nice staff, they always manage to keep the atmosphere going with jokes and warm smiles. Food was is super tasty and prices are super low compared to what you get. A little hidden gem in Lisbon - definitely recommend.

We’ve just finished our brunch, oh my god! So, so good. The Josephine burger (chorizo style patty) with egg is amazing and the home fries are really tasty. My brunch partner had the brunch which is full of little delicacies and comes with a hot drink and juice. Afterwards you can bask in the sun and admire the amazing facade of the Hotel 1908. Well worth a visit.

My favorite bar in Lisbon! Lovely stuff, great sangria ;) my friends and I went there 7 days in a row! :D Without Josephine our trip wouldn’t have been the same !!! Whole heartedly recommend this place for food as well as drinks!

Fabulous hamburgers and homemade fries are available here at this great place. The staff is friendly, quick and well organised. The prices are reasonable for this beautiful place and the quality of the food. The place is surrounded by beautiful historic buildings and is often entertained by street performers. But even without the street performers, it is entertaining to watch the hustle and bustle of the square.

A good place, a pretty tasty meal, but there are always problems with alcohol. Then they confuse drinks, then they bring the wrong thing, then they bring the right order, but... look at the mojito

  • 4/5 Rita V. 3 years ago on Google
Enjoyed a lot the only thing I must mention is about the small pie with spinach’s and cheese. I didn’t find almost any cheese, which is not bad because is healthier but I was expecting a little bit more of cheese. The toast was behind great. Very good toast.

We walked here just because it seemed nice to have drinks but we saw how good the food was around us. We ended up having our dinner here. And people are very warm, service is very quick and kind. Definitely recommend this place to people especially if you are interested in vegetarian and vegan options!
